MozBar & OSE
-
I'm doing some research for an e-commerce store, and I'm getting very different link counts from the Mozbar & Opensite explorer. Any idea why? Which is more accurate?
-
Hey Chris,
All of the data for both the Mozbar and OSE comes from the same index, so you shouldn't really be seeing different information between the two. Can you please let me know the URL that you are on when using the Mozbar and then the full OSE URL that the Mozbar directs you to when you click the link for the root domain stats? I am looking for the actuall opensiteexplorer.org URL, i.e. http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=www.seomoz.org. That information will help me investigate if you are experiencing a bug.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Are you using the exact same URL on both? Including whether it has www, trailing slash, etc?

Can we disavow all spammy looking sites in OSE with a spam score of 5 or above?
Hello, We'd like to use OSE to make a disavow list. Can we just go through everything with a spam score of 5 or higher that looks like spam when we visit the site and disavow all of them? I'll be using Moz pro, are there any other free tools that I can utilize? What do I keep in mind? Thanks!

Website blocked by Robots.txt in OSE
When viewing my client's website in OSE under the Top Pages tab, it shows that ALL pages are blocked by Robots.txt. This is extremely concerning because Google Webmaster Tools is showing me that all pages are indexed and OK. No crawl errors, no messages, no nothing. I did a "site:website.com" in Google and all of the pages of the website returned. Any thoughts? Where is OSE picking up this signal? I cannot find a blocked robots tag in the code or anything.

Spacing after list items in Q&A
Hey Moz The Q&A interface lacks any spacing after a HTML list item so it makes things look a bit messy. It looks right when being edited but wrong when posted so. example list more list list keeps going Paragraph after bullet list with no space. example list more list list keeps going Paragraph after number list with no space. Any chance of fixing that? It will make posts more readable and satisfy those of us fussy enough to go back in and edit posts so they are laid out correctly. (Sorry, I am English, I can't help myself). Cheers!

Does PR & DA not apply to Google?
My PR & DA are much higher than my competitors, but I noticed that they outrank me in some searches. What's up with that?

OSE Advanced for specific directory only?
Pls how do I set up Open Site Explorer Advanced to look for backlinks to files in ONLY a certain directory? so if the domain is 1234.com, I don't care about links to 1234.com. OSE can find those very neatly! What I do care about is ONLY links to 1234.com/profiles and I can't seem to figure out a way to do this. the /profiles directory has thousands of profiles in it - and we think we have hundreds of thousands of backlinks - so ideally, I'd like to use regex or DOS like filtering to look at only those which start with 9 or 8 or whatever.

Does OSE Anchor Text Distribution CSV include internal links or external only?
Quite often when I'm using OSE and perform a CSV export, it looks like the total inbound link count and many phrases come from internal links for the domain in question. I haven't had the time to try and figure this out and don't know exactly how to go about figuring it out. So the initial question is does OSE's anchor text distribution CSV include internal links or are they external only? And alternately, how do I test for this? I deal with sites that have tens or hundreds of thousands of pages and hundreds of thousands or millions of links...
