Can I add a paragraph of blog content to a product page?
-
I have a great blog post about one of my products, which means there's some copy in the blog that I would like in the product page. It would constitute perhaps 5% of the copy on the product page if I copied it.

You are most welcome
If you have any more questions, just ping me. ill try my best to answer.

Hi Jarno
I would lose my product page from SERPS and the blog is not the canonical page for 95% of the product page's content.
-
Brocberry,
have you thought about rel=canonical and specify the blog as original? Or have you thought about it and considered it not to be an option?
This could solve your entire problem and the content is not considered to be duplicate in any case.
kind regards
Jarno

Thanks Sinisa, I have sent the link by private message. An example of duplicate content contains "harmonic techniques".
-
Hi again
As for the linking part - it's fine. Of course.
And as Marie has stated below, no one know when Google flags someting ''duplicate''. Just try to avoid a lot of copy and all would be good, imo
Although, presonaly, i would write a brand new description using the info from the blogpost.
Cheers
ps. Could you paste the link to your product page?
-
Hi
The blog post links to the product page and the product page links to the blog.
I haven't included it as an additional description, I have taken one or two paragraphs from the blog and worked them into the original product copy.
-
No one knows exactly how much of a page has to be duplicated before Google sees the page as a duplicated page. However, if your blog post is only 5% of the copy on the page and the rest of the page has good unique content I can't see this being a problem.
-
Hi there
In my opinion, i dont see why not. An aditional description on your product page is a great feature as for users and for bots, but if you are worried about duplicate content, maybe you could summarize the blog and include the key features (words) of your product and link the whole blogpost to the original blog?
hope this helps
cheers!

Is Google indexing something I can't see on my page title?
When I do a search for my businesses website (colourpages.com) it returns a listing which is great but the title tag includes Hull Colour Pages which is our old brand name - we changed to colourpages.com 2 years ago yet Hull Colour Pages is still pulling through on the title tag. I have checked the source and it's as follows: <title>Plumbers in Hull - Reviews - colourpages.com</title> I have attached a photo which shows the issue - http://imgur.com/Cva3001 Is Google indexing it from old history that is no longer visible or am I missing something? Is there a guide to best practices for site content and blogs?
We have been working hard producing good content for our sites and now we need to know what are the most current best practices regarding placing and organizing content. We do the usual social media blast with Twitter, FB, G+ with each blog post. But it seems there is more that can and should be done. What about authorship and schema tags?

Duplicate content harms individual pages or whole site?
Hi, One section of my site is a selection of Art and Design books. I have about 200 individual posts, each with a book image and a description retrieved from Amazon (using their API). Due to several reasons not worth mentioning I decided to use the Amazon description. I don't mind if those pages rank well or not, but I need them as additional content for my visitors as they browse my site. The value relies in the selection of books. My question is if the duplicate content taken from Amazon harms only each book page or the whole site. The rest of the site has unique content. Thanks! Enrique

Is creating lots of sub product pages with some variation a good idea?
I have a service for quote comparison for web design, graphic design etc. My main sales page is http://www.designquotes.com.au/compare-quotes I am thinking of creating 20 or so product specific pages such as this: http://www.designquotes.com.au/business-card-design-stationary-quotes Additional pages such as CMS Wbe Design eCommerce Web Design Logo Desing etc Some of the content is repeat, the main content that changes is in the content slider at the bottom. Is this a good idea, or should I be creating more high quality content like the one below? Will the page be considered low quality or get duplicate content penalties? http://www.designquotes.com.au/web-design-buyers-guide

How to Define Best URL Structure for Product Pages?
I am working on my website to edit structure with help of Google's search engine optimization starter guide. There is really good instruction to define URL structure which help us to perform well over Google's organic search. I have resolved issues regarding category pages but, I have confusion to define best URL structure for product pages. My website's product page URL structure is as follow. http://www.vistastores.com/marketumbrellas-californiaumbrella-slpt758-f13-red.html http://www.vistastores.com/homefurniture-winsomewood-93630.html URL structure is constructed with following terms. 1. Root Category Name (Market Umbrellas or Home Furniture or ....) 2. Brand Name 3. Manufacturer Part Number I am not happy with this structure and also not performing well over Google's organic search. I am thinking to include product name or title tag in URL after root domain. But, it may create very long URL and create issues in organic search display. Does it really matter to perform well over Google's organic search? How can I define best URL structure for product pages?
