Selfgrowth.com - guest post opportunity or useless article site
-
Hello,
Is anyone familiar with if selfgrowth.com is safe to put an article on, or is it a useless article site?
Thanks.

It's certainly a safe site.
As with all article sites, its value has been diminished significantly. As far as article sites go, SelfGrowth is probably one of the better ones out there. I know when I've had a surplus of content on a previous site a few months back we used it. Rankings did increase, but it's not like we used SelfGrowth exclusively, so impossible to say there's correlation.
A link from there wouldn't likely hurt and might pass on a bit of 'link-juice', for lack of a better term. However, I'd only ever use it if you're overflowing with time-sensitive content that you don't have anywhere else to put. Other than that circumstance, I'd nearly always recommend doing some targeted outreach and getting your article onto a related blog in your niche.

Links from other sites in our network
I work for a large publisher with many websites, and it's common for our biggest sites to link to smaller sites within the network. These links are follow, site-wide, anchor text-optimised footer links. I think it's obvious that these links are harmful to the smaller sites that are being linked to, but it's hard to convince others of that, particularly because the toolbar PR benefit is very obvious. Do you think it would be better to: a) Remove the links completely b) Keep the links, but make them nofollow c) Keep the links (as it's not harmful) Thanks

Open Site Explorer Question
Ok, so Open Site Explorer question: Say you enter a link and filter as follows - Followed + 301, only external, this page, ungroup. Now lets say 50 links appear from the same domain, when you visit the domain one of those Go Daddy type parked domain pages appear with lots of adsense as they usually do. Link back... No where to be seen. What's the score here? Is this domain showing up because OSE is yet to update for this domain?

Best way to set up a support site - sub domain, separate site or com/support?
My company is setting up our support site. It has been suggested that we set it up as a separate domain - www.company-support.com, rather than setting it up as a sub-domain (www.support.company.com) or the usual www.company.com/support. The person who proposed this believes it wlll create link juice, but i wonder if splitting the traffic will create more harm than good? Opinions please!

Open Site Explorer
Typically when using Open Site Explorer to analyze links, how long does it take for them to show up? I have some links that are on high page ranking sites, yet they still do not show up with the Open Site Explorer. Thank you
