Webmaster Tools Links To Your Site
-
I logged onto webmaster tools today for my site and the section 'Links to Your Site' is showing no data. Also if I search using link:babskibaby.com it only shows 1 link. My site had been showing 500+ links previously.
Does anyone know why this is?
-
Yes Anthony, Once I have contacted ahref support because of link difference in OSE and Ahref.com. They told, they provide more fresh data.
-
Hi SanketPatel-
Open Site Explorer is my favorite backlink checker as well, but ahrefs usually has a much fresher index. OSE updates approximately once each month with ambitions to do so more frequent.
So if something dramatic happened a few days ago (like 100 lost links), ahrefs would be the quickest place to diagnose the problem. Compared to waiting another 20 days or whatever for the OSE index to update.

Thanks for adding, I only prefer opensiteexplorer for backlink analysis. See the total number of links counts. It means opensiteexplorer has crawled more pages.

This seems inline with what ahref's is reporting, 41 linking root domains with 201 backlinks.
ahref's report here:
https://ahrefs.com/site-explorer/overview/subdomains/babskibaby.com
-
As per Opensiteexplorer, you have 52 linking root domains and total 384 Links. You can checkout more links here :

I can't look at your GWT data, so I'm not exactly sure what is going on there. I suspect if you give it a day that data will be back in there.
I can confirm that the link:domain.com query is 99% useless and is not an accurate measurement of anything.
Use ahrefs.com/majestic and opensiteexplorer to check your backlinks. I'm sure they are still there.
Data/Tools are not reliable 100% of the time. Focus on your referral and search engine traffic instead of overall link numbers.

How are Server side redirects perceived compared to direct links (on a Directory site)
Hi, Im creating some listings for a client on a relevant b2b directory (a good quality directory) I asked if the links are 'followed' or no 'followed' and they said they are 'server side redirects' so no direct links. Does anyone know how these are likely to be perceived by Google ? All BEst Dan

Why can no tool crawl this site?
I am trying to perform a crawl analysis on a client's website at https://www.bravosolution.com I have tried to crawl it with IIS for SEO, Sreaming Frog and Xenu and not one of them makes it further than the home page of the site. There is nothing I can see in the robots.txt that is blocking these agents. As far as I can see, Google is able to crawl the site although they have noticed a significant drop in organic traffic. Any advise would be very welcome Regards Danny

Quality links are beneficial, but are neutral links detrimental?
So obviously a link profile featuring quality / authoritative / relavant in-bound links is preferable, but here's my question: If I'm starting work on a brand new domain, should I build links that one would consider neutral (i.e. from a non-spammy, but unrelated site) or should I not bother and only focus on quality links? Thanks

Weird 404 Errors in Webmaster Tools
Hi, In a regular check with Webmaster Tools, I have noticed a sudden increase in the number of "not found-404" errors. So I have been looking at them and noticed something weird has been going on. There are well over 100 pages with 404-errors. The funny thing is, none of the ULR's are correct, For example, if the actual url is something like www.domain.com/latest-reviews , the 404-error points to a non-existent URL like www.domain.com/latest-re And when I checked where they were linked from, they are all from these spammy sites. Anyone know what could be causing these links, why would anyone link on purpose to a non-existent page? cheers,

How can you get the right site links for your site?
Hello all, I have been trying to get Google to list relevant site links for my site when you type in our brand name, Loco2 or for when Loco2 comes up in a search result. Different things come up when you search Loco2 and Loco 2. We would like site links to look like how they do when you search Loco 2. However Loco2 is our brand name, NOT Loco 2. Does anyone know why Google is doing this and whether we can influence results? We have done as much as possible via Google webmaster, in terms of specifying the links we DO NOT want Google to list for Loco2. However, when you search "Loco2", results only show simple site links. Ideally what we want is: Loco2 to be recognised as the brand NOT Loco 2 The same results (substantial, identical) for Loco2 as for Loco 2 (think o2 and o 2) For the site links to reflect the main pages of our site (Times & Tickets, Engine Room forum etc.) Many thanks in advance! I have a site that has both http:// and https:// versions indexed, e.g. https://www.homepage.com/ and http://www.homepage.com/. How do I de-index the https// versions without losing the link juice that is going to the https://homepage.com/ pages?
I can't 301 https// to http:// since there are some form pages that need to be https:// The site has 20,000 + pages so individually 301ing each page would be a nightmare. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a great tool for URL mapping old to new web site?
We are implementing new design and removing some pages and adding new content. Task is to correctly map and redirect old pages that no longer exist.
