Rankings like this mean what?
-
I have just redirected our old domain to our new domain using a sitewide 301 redirect. That was on Dec 6. Since none of the pages are showing in the serps unless you search specifically for a paragraph in quotes. But I am also very concerned because scraper sites are coming up before my site. Here are a few examples:
and here is one I just took off the site and put somewhere else:
and yet another:
Notice the pattern, all of the results have my site (the originator of the content) at the bottom. I am very concerned with this as I'm sure this means Penalty up the ..... something.
What is my best move at this point? Is there any chance of getting out of this?
Just be thankful you are not in this position, it sucks. But I'm still positive I can do something with this site.
Thanks
Rob

May have been a mistake but the main reason is that the .com was a hybrid mix of html and wordpress and ever since I added the blog as 'part' of the site it only made the Panda issues worse. I was originally hit by Panda 1.0 and have never been able to shake it off. If you look at the wayback machine for the site you will see that it has completely changed. Then Panda 20 struck and left me holding my tail meaning that 98% of my pages were not even showing up in the serps. So I was thinking that moving only the wordpress install and then porting over the html pages into wordpress will give it a fresh start. But since I have done that, now nothing is ranking, last week the home page at least appeared in thh top 5 for the brand term. But that has me concerned because the majority of the backlinks are branded or at least the url, so if I can't even rank for my own brand it seems like this whole change killed it completely at this point.
You mentioned 6 weeks for one of your changes, perhaps I still need to be patient with it.
Now that the site has been ported into wordpress on the .net, perhaps it's best to move that back to .com since the url has a pretty solid MozRank compared to .net. I know doing that will completely screw up the rankability for month or three though. So I really am at a standstill as to how to procede with this project to get back into big G. Every other traffic source is doing fine, but for some reason as we all know that G traffic just tends to taste better.

Weird...I just checked out both in OSE. Everything seems like you did it the right way at first glance. I had a site that I was working on do something similar...only for one redirect but it was a high traffic word that we ranked well for. It sucks to say the least. It's taken about 6 weeks for the new page to start showing a page authority close to the previous page. If you don't mind me asking, why change from the .com to the .net?

Hey Shane, thanks for the response. Yes the 301 is page for page, not all pointing to the main url.
To me it seems that none of the link juice is being passed which is strange because even a search for my brand has the site either #4 or 5 and no other pages are getting serp luv at the moment, even though a site:burnworld.net has all the pages in that index and webmaster tools shows them all crawled from the sitemaps. It's just none are showing in the main index.
Andy advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hey Rob,
Sounds awful. When you say site wide 301 redirect, is every page getting redirected to the corresponding page on the new URL? Or are all your old pages redirecting to your new domain's home page?
There was a related topic(url below) and the first response is similar to what I have seen.
http://www.seomoz.org/q/lost-all-ranking-after-site-wide-301-redirect
If that doesn't help, feel free to post the url's(old and new) and I'll take a look.
Shane

Page ranking in .com but not in .co.uk
Hi there, I tried to search the Q&A but couldn't find any answers to my issue. We have a page that is ranking #2 for the term "translation memory" in google.com, but it doesn't show in Google.co.uk. This has been like this for weeks now. We are not targeting any specific country in GWT. Does anyone know a possible explanation for this? Thank you.

GWMT - "Tag Site For Child Directed Treatment" Effect On Search / Rankings?
Hi All, We have a client who has been directed to tag their site for "Child Directed Treatment" in Webmaster tools to comply with AdExchange policies. The site is, generally speaking, directed at those between the ages of 13 and 16 along with their parents, but does NOT collect any data (No sign in, login, signups etc). You can find out more about the specific tag here (unfortunately not much more about it) https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/3221080?hl=en Our concern is that we have never heard of this specific tag, and our client is asking us to let them know if that this will have no effect on search traffic or ranking. I can't find much in the way of anyone who HAS implemented this tag and the effects it has had on their site. They are ad supported, receive millions of unique hits a month, and the majority of their traffic is from branded keywords. Would love to hear from anyone with ANY experience or thoughts on this process and what to be aware of. Your assistance is muchly appreciated.

Why is my client ranking no.3 for a competitive keyword?
Hey guys, I'm doing a bit of detective work and I'm trying to understand why my client is ranking no.3 for the keyword "office desks" on google.ie. https://www.google.ie/search?q=office+desks&aq=f&oq=office+desks&aqs=chrome.0.59j60l2j62l3.10127j0&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 The strange thing about this is that 'office desks' is not in the 1. title tag 2. url 3. h1 tag 4. anchor text of the internal links 5. anchor text of the external links 'Office furniture' however is the optimised keyword here however this appearing no. 35 in SERPs for the same url. Any ideas what this might be? Regards Rob

Noticed Bing UK and Yahoo UK are almost exactly the same ranking results?
I've run a few keyword ranking updates today and I've noticed that Bing UK and Yahoo UK results are almost exactly the same? This is unusual, the results for these two engines rarely tally with one another. Is anyone seeing the same?

Local vs Global Search Results Yield Very Different Rankings Lately
When I monitor my website's rankings, I always do it from Canada (direct connection) and from the USA (using a VPN in Arizona). I've been monitoring rankings this way for the last 3 years. Most of the time, I got similar results (-5 / +5) from both location. My website is a ".com" and targets an international audience. Lately (is it since Panda 22?), I've seen dramatic differences in rankings from both locations. Some keywords will rank in the top 10 on Google.com (from the USA) while they will appear on page 3, 4, 5 and even lower on Google.ca (from Canada). The thing is, the top 10 results on Google.ca are not even from canadian websites. Fact of the matter, there are even some results from India websites (.in) in the top 10! I understand that Google.ca will give advantage to websites from Canada (or targeting the canadian market / .ca domain name) over international / US websites but there's never been such a huge difference in rankings until lately. Has anybody else experienced this? What are your thoughts?

Would like to test other words besides "subscribe"
I have a newsletter button on my website that states "subscribe now". I am wondering if there are better words than the word subscribe since people are so numb to that word now. Anyone ever measure or A/B test different words?
