Widgetbox.com Widgets - SEO Tomfoolery?
-
We recently revived a slew of industry-specific widgets that we had created on Widgetbox.com largely for SEO purposes. The widget is remote-hosted and just a static HTML cache page showing information, so all Widgetbox does is wrap that HTML page in javascript to show it.
However, I realized that when Javascript is disabled there's no link back to our website, just 4 or 5 back to Widgetbox. When Javascript is enabled we have a simple link back to our website at the bottom of the widget.
I know Google has the ability to crawl Javascript now, but what do you think about this, will these links count? I could find virtually 0 information about it elsewhere. I'm thinking I may just add several widgets to another website to see if Google picks up the links.

I'd like to bump this and mention that the widgets are actually included on the page as an iframe when javascript is enabled... again, any thoughts on the SEO validity of viral widgets? Disregarding any marketing/ brand awareness benefits.

.com or .co.uk
I have ownership over the .co.uk and the .com for my brand name and I was wondering which URL I should use. Most my sales come from within the UK, (with only a small amount from the US). Currently I'm using the .co.uk and redirecting the .com URL but should I be doing this the other way around? Thanks,

Pixel tags impact on SEO?
I was asked by our IT if switching to a tag management company that removes the pixels from our site and is replaced by a javascript would have a negative impact on SEO. I have not been able to find anything that discusses this: Does anyone have experience with this? Has it caused any issues? Has it caused any issues? How do crawlers see pixel data, and what do they do with it?

Wordpress Blogs and SEO
So far we have been creating separate blogs on wordpress.com for our sites, and writing there. Today I was told that there was better SEO hosting the blog on the actual domain. i.e. www.widgets.com/blog instead of widget.wordpress.com Is this true? Oddly I have had my WP beat my own URL on one account. So I am not sure if this is valid. Can someone tell me pros and cons of both? Thanks!

What are the best suites of SEO tools?
I normally use SEOmoz and a bit of SEMrush but I dont really know much outside of those two. Im looking to do a review of the big, trustworthy ones - along the lines of free trial price vs value ranktracking linkbuilding help onpage analysis and help competitor analysis reports I heard good things about Raven Tools and Web CEO. Ive seen mention of SEOpowersuite on this forum but the site looks spammy as hell Anyone have a view on those 5 tools or any others in a similar vein? Or any other top line criteria I should be looking at? Cheers
