"ghost" links on opensite explorer
-
today I've checked link building progress for a site I am working on. I've noticed lots of new links and new domains, I was happy but a bit surprised because I havent'y done any serious link building yet.
investigating more, I've checked the pages that should be linking my site, and these pages are on totally unreleated sites or they doesn't even exist!
as an example, my site is about road bicycles, and opensite report this links:
and 14 more
as you can see, these pages are down. probably never existed.
so what's happen?
- opensite is getting crazy?
- www.murrayschicken.com/ has been got hacked?
- my client is doing some black hat link building?
any opinions?
-
many of these linking pages doesn't even exist anymore, and they are not listed in webmaster tool.
don't know if I have dropped, because the site was not ranking for anything since 8 weeks ago, and now it is slowing grown (but not as I would expected)
but how can you explain that OSE is listing this pages that doesn't have ANY link to my site?

more on this: anchor text are totally random. some examples: clifton beach tasmania, veil hijab, libya crisis gaddafi, navy tote bag, brazilian mastiff dog, knit book cover, dubai biggest building...
what is happening???

No OSE isn't being crazy, My guess would be lazy link building. Check your SERPs results and see if you have dropped in any keyword positions.
If you have, use the Disavow tool on webmaster tools to get rid of any crappy links.

Impact of "noopener" Links
Hey all, Recently got a PR piece published with a link back to our website. The link was not showing up in the Moz crawler, but I did find it under unlinked mentions. When I checked the page with the link, I saw that it contained rel="noopener". So a couple questions: Is this similar to a nofollow link? If the Moz Crawler is not registering it as a dofollow link, does that mean that Google will view it similarly? Thanks!

Spammy links
Hi I was reviewing a clients link profile and found a lot of the links they have pointed at their domain have the anchor text "Buy Viagra" or "buy viagra online" and similar. Now the website has absolutely nothing to do with this kind of business so no doubt these links are spammy. To my knowledge the website has not been penalised by Google so far. Is it best to disavow or just leave alone? Kind Regards

What is the number of links do you require your link builder to attain each week or month? What is a reasonable goal?
Hello Mozzers... I would like to get a survey or feedback from other Mozzers who owns an SEO company or manages / hire link builders. **What is the average number of links does your link builder need to attain per week or month? what is their goal? ** I understand quality over quantity but I want to make sure there is a reasonable average to provide them goals and something to achieve on. Of course reward them more if they exceed or get .edu links. What do you institute? What do you think is fair and achievable per website? PS. There is no right or wrong answers here. I am looking for a measurable answer not subjectable. Again just gathering MEASURABLE GOALS.

Link removal
We were hit by penguin and have been going through the process of removing bad links. Things were looking up but then wasa 20% jump in our bad links. They all seem to be related. There are over 100 different domains that all seem to go back to mbiz. examples include http://www.5stone.com.cn/Literature-holders-.html http://www.building-stone.com/Display-furniture.html http://www.china-tombstone.com/Display-exhibition-products-.html It looks like they have automatically gathered data from google to create these pages. I would hope that the guys at Google are clever enough to be aware of these sorts of links. But if not I need to get them removed. I have tried whois but I cant find out how to contact these guys. Has anyone got any bright ideas? Thanks

Links I am not Building?
Hi All, I check webmaster multiple times on a daily basis, and I noticed some links that I have not worked on and look a bit spammy, is it possible for people to purposely pont bad links in my direction? If that is the case is there a way for me to remove them myself? Also the number of total backlinks are very different in Webmaster and my Open Site Explorer, is this normal? Thanks again !

How would one get on the Huff Po's "Around the Web" list?
On the huffington post they often have lists of links related to the article, near the bottom just before the comments. This section, when present, is called "Around the Web". See this as an example: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/linda-bacon-phd-ma-ma/health-at-every-size_b_1314339.html Do the article authors choose these links, or are they auto-generated somehow? I had a relatively small competitor appear here, so I'm wondering if there are any tricks to gett included. Thanks! Edited to add hyperlink
