Is it okay to use anchor text almost exclusively for inbound links?
-
We are not spammy - each link is earned through a long process of relationship building and targeted guest post writing. Because of this, we like each link to have anchor text and they don't point to the same page or have the same anchor text.
Is this still something to be worried about? Do we still need to include plain URLs (wwww.example.com) for some of those links?
-
you should have enough of those names being generated naturally IE www.site.com, site.com, site so I wouldn't worry about wasting hard link building efforts just to add your domain name which you already should rank #1 for
the trick is to use long tail variations - if your main keyword is "movie posters" then
vintage movie posters
selling old movie posters
buy classic movie posters online
and point them to matching optimized pages, not all to the same page.

As long as you don't have one key word anchor text that just dominates the others then you should be fine however best practices are to try and incorporate plain urls for some of the links. For example it wouldn't look natural if you had one keyword that appeared 100 times while the others only appeared 5 or 10 times
As you are already doing It's a good idea to spread the links around to different pages and use different anchor text if as long as the anchor text is related to that particular page.

Using hreflang tags properly.
On my site "example.com" I have set up the following in the header: The problem is that the tags are universal across the site, so every page has these tags, leading obviously to no return tag errors. I.e. the page www.example.ca/testing.html still has the tags: Not tags with "testing.html" in them. How bad is this? Does it matter?

Do bad links to a sub-domain which redirects to our primary domain pass link juice and hurt rankings?
Sometime in the distant past there existed a blog.domain.com for domain.com. This was before we started work for domain.com. During the process of optimizing domain.com we decided to 301 blog.domain.com to www.domain.com. Recently, we discovered that blog.domain.com actually has a lot of bad links pointing towards it. By a lot I mean, 5000+. I am curious to hear people's opinions on the following: 1. Are they passing bad link juice? 2. does Google consider links to a sub-domain being passed through a 301 to be bad links to our primary domain? 3. The best approach to having these links removed?

Forms and link juice
On product listing page on e-commerce site We use POST forms as 'Add To Cart' buttons. Because of that We have dozens (~40-80) forms on any product listing page, and two questions regarding them: Does these forms affect link juice of other links on the page? Are there cases when forms are somehow counted by Google as links? Regards, Lucek

301 from a Link Directory
Hey guys. I am more looking for advice to confirm something on this one if anyone could offer help? My client has a reciprocal only link directory that is actually ranking higher than their company website. Surely from an SEO point of view, in this instance, it would make sense to kill the link directory and put a re-direct on the whole thing over to their main site? Would appreciate any advice on this one 🙂

Metrics to determine the quality of a link?
I found this very useful post on SEOMoz http://www.seomoz.org/blog/525600-metrics-how-do-you-measure-measure-a-link, but its a bit dated. Also, it doesn't really help in terms of applying exact metrics to measure the quality of a link. Does anyone have any other suggestions to help automate / determine the quality of a link?
