Is it okay to use anchor text almost exclusively for inbound links?
-
We are not spammy - each link is earned through a long process of relationship building and targeted guest post writing. Because of this, we like each link to have anchor text and they don't point to the same page or have the same anchor text.
Is this still something to be worried about? Do we still need to include plain URLs (wwww.example.com) for some of those links?
-
you should have enough of those names being generated naturally IE www.site.com, site.com, site so I wouldn't worry about wasting hard link building efforts just to add your domain name which you already should rank #1 for
the trick is to use long tail variations - if your main keyword is "movie posters" then
vintage movie posters
selling old movie posters
buy classic movie posters online
and point them to matching optimized pages, not all to the same page.

As long as you don't have one key word anchor text that just dominates the others then you should be fine however best practices are to try and incorporate plain urls for some of the links. For example it wouldn't look natural if you had one keyword that appeared 100 times while the others only appeared 5 or 10 times
As you are already doing It's a good idea to spread the links around to different pages and use different anchor text if as long as the anchor text is related to that particular page.

Internal Link Rank Flow
I've read in many articles that pages can "pass" rank to other pages internally. Is anyone aware of any well done internal linking case studies which confirm this? If my homepage has the strongest Page Authority, would linking to another page deeper into my website from my homepage boost my rank for the deeper page in Google (more so than linking to the deep page from a page with lower page authority)?

Using hreflang tags properly.
On my site "example.com" I have set up the following in the header: The problem is that the tags are universal across the site, so every page has these tags, leading obviously to no return tag errors. I.e. the page www.example.ca/testing.html still has the tags: Not tags with "testing.html" in them. How bad is this? Does it matter?

Assessing Link Profiles
Hi Guys, When doing a link cleanup, it can be sometimes hard to tell, how a link got there (i.e is it natural or not). Apart from spammy directories, blog comments and forum profiles, some link exchanges could have been done naturally with just very good outreach. If you were looking at this one:- http://5startemplates.com/communications_links(4).html Would you say remove if I know they have definitely taken part in link exchanges (their link profile seems to suggest they have) or just change it to a brand/url. This sites rankings have been tanking due to duplicate content and possibly (although not definitely) a penguin update too. Any advice would be great! Kind Regards Neil

Should we rel=nofollow these links ?
On our website, we have a section of free to low-cost tools that could help small business increase their productivity without spending big bucks. For example, this is the page for online collaboration tools: http://www.bdc.ca/EN/solutions/smart_tech/tech_advice/free_low_cost_applications/Pages/online_collaboration_tools.aspx None of the company pay anything to be on these list. We actually do quite a lot of research to chose which should be listed there and which should not. Recently, one of the company in our lists asked us to add rel=nofollow to the link to their website because they add been targeted by a manual action on Google and want their link profile to be as clean as possible (probably too clean). My question is : Should we add rel=nofollow to all these links ? Thanks, Jean-François Monfette

Is using JavaScript injected text in line with best practice on making blocks of text non-crawlable?
I have an ecommerce website that has common text on all the product pages, e.g. delivery and returns information. Is it ok to use non-crawlable JavaScript injected text as a method to make this content invisible to search engines? Or is this method frowned upon by Google? By way of background info - I'm concerned about duplicate/thin content, so want to tackle this by reducing this 'common text' as well as boosting unique content on these pages. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Outbound Links
I have a page on upstrap-pro.com that provides weights of cameras and lenses. The user/buyer of my on-slip camera straps needs to know the weight his camera and lens to determine the proper pad size... large to small. We have put together a long list of the most popular customer cameras. The way it was done (by my daughter) was to also provide a via a link to dpreview.com which is an excellent site for camera information including specifications etc. My personal feeling about this is mixed. I can do it by having it open dpreview.com in a new tab but then the user/customer could still get distracted and go down the rabbit hole. On the other hand dpreview is such a good site that if they are new to photography and don't know about it, they should. I don't get a dime from dpreview. If fact I doubt they would ever link back to me because they do not write about camera straps. I hear mixed things about outbound links. In this file there are quite a few outbound links to dpreview to keep it consistent. I could do a nofollow on all of them but I read that this is the easy way out. Google is jump ball and I have no clue what Cutts and his merry men are going to decide is cool or not cool. I'd like some thoughts or options... Thanks... A small part of the file below. Using rich snippets with a CMS?
My site uses the webEdition CMS that is split between templates and documents (pages). A template responsible for a number of documents. If I wish to use rich snippets, how and where can I add the microdata as I can't do it on a page per page basis? My CMS documentation and its developer forum doesn't give any information on this but I'm hoping its a common problem for open source CMS's and there is an easy fix. I live in hope! Iain
