Will too many [img no alt-text] links harm a link profile?
-
Hi everyone.
I have a client who has a lot of sponsorships etc and therefore a lot of inbound image links (many of them sitewide). Unfortunately most of these don't have alt text, and [img no alt-text] links now make up over 50% of their link profile.
Should I be trying to correct this and requesting updates from the people who are linking? Obviously I wouldn't want loads of keyword stuffed alt texts, but maybe I should request alt texts on the brand name or URL instead.
Do you think this would make a significant difference and be worth the time it will take to contact all these webmasters?
Thanks in advance.

I understand. having no alt tags is better than having the same alt tag with your main keyword on all images.
I would probably reach out to them individually and request different alt tags for each site so that you vary the keyword phrases. This should not be a problem since you need to speak to each owner one at a time anyway.
On images linked on a huge site that might be on hundreds or thousands of pages i would leave those blank. no need to ask them for your domain name added because you should be ranking for that anyway.

I am not sure I understand what you're asking here.
Are you asking is not using alt tags on images will hurt you? It should not have anything to do with your link profile. The only thing that could hurt your link profile is using exact anchor match on your link building.
Using too many alt text on a page will certainly hurt your page(s) from ranking. Also using the same keyword over and over on multiple pages is something you want to avoid.
The alt tags were for disabled people that obviously have trouble seeing images. They have special system that would play the audio from special tags like this to tell them what the page is about.
If it is not organic or natural;try to avoid spamming!

Have you ever changed the logo anchor text from "logo" to "keyword"? How Google considers?
Hi all, We know that generally logo with the website homepage link is the first link crawled by Google and other search engines. Can we change the anchor text from "logo" to "keyword"? Have any one tried or seen others doing? How Google considers it? Thanks

Will this fix my bounce rate?
If I understand bounce rate correctly, what it basically means is that someone clicks on your SERP, and then clicks back to google? But, it doesn't matter if they spent 10 minutes on your page or 10 seconds...so if that's right, then can you lower you bounce rate by getting someone to click on another internal link inside the original page they visited from the SERPs? So for example, if a user clicks on the SERP result for our webpage X, then the users clicks on an internal link on our page X to another one of our webpages ,Y, will that lower the bounce rate, even if the user eventually backs out to the original SERP page? Thanks, Ruben

So, useless link exchange pages still work?!
After 3 years out of SEO I thought things might have moved on, but apparently not. Bit of back link research and all the top sites in my niche have tons of reciprocal links to barely relevant sites. Do I really have to do this? I mean I thought this was so out of date, it's not much better than keyword stuffing. So, should I just forget my lofty principles asking myself 'is this of any value to my users?' and just take the medicine?

Yoast SEO plugin and Weak Links
The plugin has what I thought was a great feature. My main site is often scrapped and I thought 'well at least we're getting a Link out of it' - due to the RSS feature of Yoast's Wordpress SEO plugin (you can add a link to the bottom of your RSS feeds). Now Google is talking about Links from weak/crap sites and how they may impact your rankings. So - with this in mind.. Do we want links from scrappers? Are we now better off discontinuing the usage of this feature? I imagine there may be varying opinions on this so I'll open it as a discussion... thanks

SEO Link building / Article Distributation
Quick question in regards to link building and OFF PAGE SEO... Why isn't Articles distributation via wire services considered a "Duplicate Content" issue by Google? i.e. If take the one article and post it accross 50 (do follow) websites, Press release sites, and blogs. I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on this. Regard, Sammy

No-follow tags on links in the footer...do it or don't do it?
With some of the great reports SEOMoz has provided I've been able to start to take the correct steps towards fixing crawl issues, on-page issues, etc. One of my websites allows a customer to drill down to their specific state and then their city to apply for an auto loan. The SEOMoz reports told me I had too many links on these pages specifically. One of my ways to remedy this would be to add "no-follow" tags on the links in the footer as well as the links to the cities. Am I steering myself in the right/wrong direction? Should I be approaching this problem from a different perspective? Any help is greatly appreciated!
