Is Manta.com worth paying?
-
Hello,
I have currently have a Free listing but Im considering paying the monthly fee.
Does it really generate leads?
Does it help for link building and SEO?
If it does, is it wise to link back to the profile page or the home page? Thanks

I know this topic is old and forgotten, but I just came across this after researching Manta.com
I must say that I kinda liked using Manta, but from the SEO perspective it didn't seem to deliver much, the problem with Manta was not using it, but cancelling it.
- You can't cancel it from the website, you need to request it
- After I requested it, I haven't gotten a response for some time
- After I followed up, the guy straight up lied to me that he responded already, even though there was nothing else in that thread
- After paying for few months, I got bunch of listings online on different profile sites, what my "Manta manager" told me is that if I cancel the subscription, and I quote: "we will no longer have control over the 60+ listings and they may end up reverting back"
So in short, if you are willing to keep paying them (forever) it's a neat little tool, but if you feel like you may want to EVER cancel it, think twice, as you might end up getting an email that sounds like a blackmail.

We have been paying for manta pro since last July and I will give this feed back.
- Your "List Views" will definitely go up with a paid vs non-paid listing our went up about 4 fold.
- This seem to help you get for your sales and service items when a customer is doing local search for example we organically ranked for "my service my town" but not "my service neighboring town" adding pro listing made it so we were first page for the area local search. Please not this is a niche industrial market we are in.
- According to Google analytics I receive maybe one site visit for every 40 listing views. I cannot say how many call as we cannot afford call tracking currently.
- We run PPC campaigns, so form me I am currently asking how many clicks can I buy for this $40 a month?
-
I have no idea whether this is going to drive any business to your website or not. But from SEO's perspective, this is definitely going to help but that does not necessarily mean that have to pay for it. Remember paid links go against Google's guidelines.

You want to buy services from a company that is running Google adsense on its front page? Just another spam site

Hello Oliver,
I tried this with one of my company and results are not something i was expecting....it may also depends upon nice to niche...so i think if you have a bust to try you should but if you are tight then you should not consider this idea!
MY thoughts!

Oliver, I looked at the featured listings on Manta.com
Think of it from a traffic generation perspective and the ROI behind that rather then the SEO Value. The link is a nofollow link, so it's not technically / directly passing any link juice, but I still like the link if it fits your budget and brings you ROI in terms of traffic. Don't look for ROI in terms of a "Paid Link".
I would also make sure you are listed, verified in other similar sites/yellow pages etc.

Facebook.com / referral - What is it?
Hi Moz community! Coming to you today to ask a two fold question about a mysterious source/medium combination and also social medium data in general. First question relates to the attached image named 'Facebook Referral.' We've made sure to apply correct tags to all of our campaigns, both organic and paid, and are having a difficult time figuring out where this source/medium comes from which is a bit troubling as it actually has pulled in some revenue over the past couple of months The second question is around general Facebook data. Our Facebook business manager is vastly over reporting clicks to landing pages. For instance, we saw about 1,700 clicks to site as reported by Facebook business manager, whereas Google Analytics only registered about 950. I know data between the two channels rarely lines up perfectly, but this seems like a rather wide variance. Can someone help me to understand this, and let me know if there is anyway to reduce the occurrence of one or both of the issues we're facing. Thanks! referral.PNG

Best Practices for apps.facebook.com pages
A client of ours has experienced a large drop in traffic (per GA) from apps.facebook.com referral source in the last 30 days. After a lot of searching, its apparent that there is not a lot of chatter on this topic. So this is a twofold topic..... 1. has anyone observed a drop in apps.facebook.com referrals lately as well? 2. does anyone have any best practices learning on optimizing these pages? Facebook guidance and content in general on the topic is virtually not existent. Google is still clearly indexing the url structure so its visible in search at least. https://www.google.com/#hl=en&sclient=psy-ab&q=%22apps.facebook.com

Will a blog at mydomain.com/v/blog help SEO?
Volusion doesn't allow messing with the main directory so I could only put a page at /v/blog. They do allow you to set up a 301 redirect so I had set up a 301 redirect from www.mydomain.com/blog to www.mydomain.com/v/blog. Is it worth starting a blog like this for SEO? Thanks
