Multiple Years Domain Registration
-
Is there benefit to registering a domain name for multiple years from a SEO standpoint?
-
Matt Cutts says it's not something they're using right now -- it's in the patent, but they're not doing anything about it right now. Here's the video where he says it:

Larry,
In theory I'm in agreement that extending domain registration for multiple years should send a positive signal to Google that you are here to stay. In my experience I've not seen massive boosts from this, but it is something I would definitely recommend you do. It also helps avoid the embarrassing situation of having your domain dropped 1-2 years in as you are busy dealing with other internet marketing details

Ask Matt Cutts!
I've read that a 5-year registration is probably better than a 2-year one, as if you consider what google is looking for (authority implies longevity) and what they don't want to see (short-termism) it's possible it's a signal. Higher domain registration costs are a barrier to a business that operates MFAs or farms, for instance.
Given the price difference it's a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned. If you want hard evidence, A|B testing would probably be your only option.

Multiple page rank - harm or good?
Can someone explain this to me, as I just ranked a page on our website and intended to do the same for 3 other pages. our home page is currently ranked well, but after reading this (below from Moz) I'm concerned if i'm doing more harm then good. I just ranked the page 3 days ago, I haven't seen any drops yet. When multiple pages with the potential to rank well are combined into a single page, they not only stop competing with each other, but also create a stronger relevancy and popularity signal overall. This will positively impact your ability to rank well in the search engines. Thanks in advance, Lauren.

How much weight does domain age really carry?
One of my clients competitors launched a new site in January 2014 (totally new site on a domain that had previously never been used). The competitor has very few backlinks (only double digits), most of which are directory links (dofollow and nofollow). Their authority level is good but not as high as others who rank on top pages with them and their on-page optimization is lacking in a few areas. For all intents and purposes, the site should not be ranking where it is from what I can see. However, it is literally skyrocketing up the ranks faster than I would have ever imagined. The only thing I found that this domain has going for it is age (roughly 4 years). Does this carry more weight than I think it does? When compared to my clients site, we have more backlinks (similar mix), higher DA and PA and better on-page optimization for the same keywords. However, our domain age is only a little over 1 year.

5 websites, 1 root domain name: good or bad?
Hi guys, I'm new here, so this might be a basic question to the experts here! So here is my situation: I have 1 "umbrella" website (root domain name) that contains 4 different websites, for a total of 5 different websites. They are related, but we needed to brand each website differently to fit each strategy. Q: I have 23 domain names.. this means I have 23 sub-domain names?

Multiple locations
We have 3 offices, at the moment we have the address of each office in the footer using the schema.org format. We are also creating individual pages for each location, the address on these pages will also be in the schema.org format. Is having locations in both the footer and on individual location pages the best way to go?

My Domain Name - short vs relevant
I'm creating a website for my new web design company in Vancouver. I'm looking to target such keywords as "Web Design Vancouver", etc. I have another company with a hyphenated domain name which is terrible when I'm on the phone and my client asks me for my domain (hard to say, always spelling it out). Also I wanted to have a good snappy name for my new business so I found a 6 letter .com and matching .ca for my company. My question is: is it best to use a short domain name or is it better have my keywords in the domain name? eg. xyz.com vs xyzvancouverwebdesign.com Thanks
