Enhanced Campaigns: Can you disable the call extension from desktop/laptop ads and only show it for mobile ads?
-
I "upgraded" one of my campaigns to Enhanced Campaigns. Now my text ads appears with a phone number to the right of the Headline.
Can I turn this off for desktop and laptops and only show our phone number / click to call button on mobile devices?
That's how I had it set up before. Now it seems like Enhanced Campaigns is forcing the phone number in your text ads across all devices.
Thanks.

I think you can try, but it may still happen sometimes. Here's what Google instructs for how to focus on mobile only extensions.
You can change how an existing sitelink or call extension works on mobile. Here's how to customize an existing extension for mobile devices:
-
- Choose the enhanced campaign that has the extension you'd like to edit.
- Click the Ad extensions tab.
- On the View drop-down menu, choose the type of extension you'd like to edit.
- From the drop-down menu next to View, choose Upgraded.
- Go to the [Extension] settings section and click Edit.
- You'll see a list of all the extensions in this campaign.
- Hover your mouse cursor over the extension you want to customize. Click the down arrow that appears next to the pencil icon and choose Copy and edit. This creates a copy of the extension.
- In the form that appears, choose Mobile next to device preference.
- Change the extension, as needed, to optimize for mobile.
- Click Save.
Note
- Mobile-optimized extensions (extensions for which the Device preference have been set to Mobile) will be given preference over standard extensions of the same type (such as sitelinks or apps) on mobile devices.
- Standard extensions will be given preference over mobile-optimized extensions of the same type on desktop and laptop computers.
- If a campaign or ad group has only mobile-optimized extensions, these may show on desktop and laptop computers. To avoid this, we recommend having standard extensions of the same type as the mobile-optimized extensions in your campaign.

Running Google Ad Grants? How Much Is Your Monthly Spend?
Hi all - here's a question for everyone running Google Ads through the Ad Grant. How much of the $10,000 available to your account per month do you actually end up spending? I'm trying to see if I am in line with others in the industry. Would you mind sharing with me the type of nonprofit and the amount you're able to spend of the grant per month, on average? Thank you!

Will Google penalize a text ad if the display URL goes nowhere?
Today I had a colleague ask me if Google Adwords will penalize text ads that have display URLs that land on 404 pages. I fully understand the policy that the domains in display URLs and destination URLs have to match up or Google will disapprove the text ad. However if the display url contains the proper domain (and a target keyword phrase for a file folder) will Google penalize the text ad quality score if the display URL lands on a 404? I had trouble finding specific evidence for this.

Why are my Adwords Total Estimated Conversions Less than My Phone Call Conversions?
I'm having an issue with tracking some conversions in adwords. Google Adwords is saying I have 20 estimated total conversions in an account and 26 phone conversions. Adwords is saying that the phone conversions are included in the total, so I am confused as to how the part is having a higher total than the sum. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks!

Broad vs. Exact in Brand Campaign
Hey guys, I was looking through my "Brand" campaign, and I noticed that my costs are running a little higher than I'd like to be spending. I've got my brand search term (Strutta) set on broad, since I just recently started the brand campaign about 2-weeks ago. However, I've noticed that I'm spending around $1 on most clicks even though my QS is at 9/10. In my previous experience, I've been able to pay pennies on brand search terms. I know that I have a competitor that's trying to snipe my brand searches, but I don't really want to be paying this much for branded clicks. Would it be a good idea to check my search terms, build out a larger list of exact match terms, and just go with exact match? Do you guys usually use broad in your Brand campaigns, or exact?

How important is Ad Group age?
We have an relatively old ad group running (from 2009) with an okay history. The average CTR is 3,19% and average position of **4,2. ** But the conversion (on website) is not really great. This has to do with bad landing pages, on products we don't actually want to sell. It's complicated but we have a new, better, landing page that we would like to advertise. Some ads would have to be combined, and others will have to be removed. Also the URLs will change. It would probably be best to start a fresh, new, clean ad group with a better structure. It would also be less work. The problem is; would this be a waste of the age and history of the current ad group? How big of a factor is this?
