On my latest report we have dropped one point on Domain authority. I also note that our 3 competitor rankings have dropped as well. Has something changed to make this occur.

Thanks Tom, makes sense to me. Thats a lot of crawling.

1 point is pretty negligible, so I wouldn't worry at all. However, this can be explained.
A number of things go into how Domain Authority is scored. You can find them via this link. PA/DA is in a constant flux, so your site may not have changed at all, but the quality of the sites linking to you may have done.
It should also be remembered as well that the Mozscape index changes in size each time it's crawled. This month's update saw 77 billion URLs crawled, up from 70 billion the month prior. You can see a history of updates here. With an increase of 7 billion URLs, it is easy to see why the domain authority average may have changed for your site. The index may have crawled more or less websites linking to you, the websites that link to them and so on and so on.
A drop of 1 point doesn't indicate you've done anything wrong on your end. Indeed, if your competitor has dropped as well, I'd share it's more to do with the index and API calculations changing slightly than you. But a fall of 1 point is very small, so it's normal service as far as I can see.
Hope these links help clarify a few points.

How to identify spammy website before making backlinks on them
Hi, I search in google but didnt find a proper answer for this! maybe search an incorrect keyword! The question is, How can I find out a website that I'm going to make a backlink on is a spammy website? For example I did this guest bloging on this good website: Best Sure-Shot Organic Pest Control Approaches Every Gardener Should Know | Balcony Garden Web But it seems to be spammy because I use SEO POWERSUIT software that shows this backlink is 20% risk of google penalty! Is it right!? So how can we rest assured for making a quality backlink? I can not think any other way 😞

What is Followed Linking Root Domains ?
Is it to just have different URLs pointing to my site? I understand that if 1 site posts 5 of my URLs, it only counts as 1. I am just not understanding how I increase this number if link building is now frowned up. Thoughts?

Please point me in the right direction.
Hi everybody, My company recently stopped our SEO service as a cost-saving measure. Now it's up to me to do SEO in-house. I mainly do marketing and graphic design. Though I know exactly (maybe not) what to do to successfully maintain our rankings the SEO company achieved and rank for new keywords, not sure where to start. I know i need to make sure our website is optimized for SEO. Got that in the works (Our SEO company never advised on on-site seo) I know I need to create good content with the proper keywords and use anchor links. Where do i put this content? Do i purchase a domain and just put it up there? EZinearticles? or any of those article sites. I've already reached out to do guest blogging on some sites but have not received any response yet. Should i hire a writer? If anybody can give some pointers on where to start. I've got my list of keywords and keyphrases, I'm all ready to go. How can I begin my in-house SEO campaign? Thank you so much!

Competitor analysis and broken links
I have just been looking at a competitors links and have discovered some of the links they have obtained dont actually exist when clicking through to the directory or blog in question, although still appear in opensiteexplorer. Is this common? and is it just a sign of bad link building practices?

Exact Match Domain Names
Basically without a doubt having a exact match domain name is a massive benefit. If you targeted a keyword with 2 different sites one with an EMD and one without, I could quite easily expect the EMD to pop up page 1/2 and the non EMD site to be 10 pages deep. I'm going to be honest, I hate how much weight is put on the EMD, Domain brokers are focused on purely finding these, buying them up and selling them way above there worth. Google needs to realise this is a massive problem because I see sites with great content, great moz trust and rank being outranked by a EMD that sits on a squeeze page. Question: If no link building was taking place on the EMD site, lets say it ranked page 2, position 4 but you was linking building on the NON EMD how long to get it up to the EMD site?
