Blog.furnacefilterscanada.com/ or furnacefilterscanada.com/blog/
-
My shopping cart does not allow to instal a WordPress blog on a sub-domain like:
furnacefilterscanada.com/blog/
But I can host my blog on another server with a sub-domain like:
In a SEO point of view is there a difference between the 2?
Link juice? Page authority?
Thank you,
BigBlaze

I agree with Danny, but let me add this in as well.
If you are keeping a tight control over the blog content and quality (hopefully you are) then subfolder is the way to go.
If you are allowing guest bloggers to post weak content and external links, and they have the ability to publish live without you vetting prior to release, then a subdomain would be better to protect the main site.

Hi there,
In SEO point of view (and as SEO good practice) it is preferred that blogs are placed in subfolders.
In your case, the subfolder would be: furnacefilterscanada.com/blog
Since your blog will have link worthy contents that will be useful to your website, then it is recommended that you create a subfolder for that instead of the subdomain (blog.furnacefilterscanada.com).
Hope that helps!

Http:// vs Https:// in Og:URL
Hi, Recently, we have migrated our website from http:// to https://. Now, every URL is in https:// and we have used 301 permanent redirection for redirecting OLD URL's to New Ones. We have planned to include http:// link in og:url instead of https:// due to some social share issues we are facing. My concern is, if Google finds the self http:// URL on every page of my blog, will Google gets confused with http and https:// as we are providing the old URL to Google for crawling. Please advice. Thanks

Best practice for URL - Language/country
Hi, We are planning on having our website localized into more languages. We already have an English and German version. The German version is currently a sub-domain: www.example.com --> English version de.example.com --> German version Is this recommended? Or is it always better to have URLs with language prefixes such a: www.example.com/de www.example.com/es Which is a better practice in terms of SEO?

What's the best Blogging platform
A year ago an SEO specialist evaluated my Wordpress site and said she had seen lower rankings for Wordpress sites--in general. We moved our site off any cms and design in html 5. Our blog, however, is still on Wordpress. I'm thinking about moving to the Ghost platform b/c I only a blog. The drawbacks are one author, no recent post lists, no meta tags. Is it worth it to move the site off Wordpress. Will it affect my rankings much if I have great content? Does anyone have experience with or opinions on Ghost?

Should I enable trackback on my blog?
Hi, I received a notification that somebody posted a trackback comment and I am not sure about the recommended course of action. What is the SEO impact of accepting trackbacks on my blog? Should I simply ignore them or should I accept them? What I understand is that it means somebody linked to my blog (which is good) but do I get something out of posting the trackback in the comment section or am I just giving somebody a free link? Is that the same as if I was to link to another blog or does it carry some sort of a social recognition helping my site authority? Cheers Guillaume

Job/Blog Pages and rel=canonical
Hi, I know there are several questions and articles concerning the rel=canonical on SEOmoz, but I didn't find the answer I was looking for... We have some job pages, URLs are: /jobs and then jobs/2, jobs/3 etc.. Our blog pages follow the same: /blog, /blog2, /blog/3... Our CMS is self-produced, and every job/blog-page has the same title tag. According to SEOmoz (and the Webmaster Tools), we have a lots of duplicate title tags because of this problem. If we put the rel=canonical on each page's source code, the title tag problem will be solved for google, right? Because they will just display the /job and /blog main page. That would be great because we dont want 40 blog pages in the index. My concern (a stupid question, but I am not sure): if we put the rel=canonical on the pages, does google crawl them and index our job links? We want to keep our rankings for our job offers on pages 2-xxx. More simple: will we find our job offers on jobs/2, jobs/3... in google, if these pages have the rel=canonical on them? AND ONE MORE: does the SEOmoz bot also follow the rel=canonical and then reduce the number of duplicate title-tags in the campaigns??? Thanx........

Site redesign/cleanup SEO Advice
Hi Everyone, New member here, but loving it. I have some questions that I couldn't find the answers to. We are radically changing our site. Over the years it has accumulated thousands of garbage files, WP installations, etc. We enjoy good rankings for lots of our keywords. Are there articles/advice/suggestions on how to do this with the least harm to our rankings? One of the largest concerns is for pages currently ranked and we want to move them to blog posts with a preceding /blog/ in the url. The filename, title, etc. will all remain identical. the url is www.wulongforlife.com Sure appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance.
