Rankings Gone? Have I been effected by the Panda/Penguin Update(s)?
-
Our site www.alphameasure.com has been online since 2005 and currently has a page rank of 4.
The site has always ranked on page one or two of Google for our primary keywords (Employee Satisfaction Survey, Employee Engagement Survey, Employee Surveys).
I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but now our site is nowhere to be found. I'm thinking our ranking dropped somewhere in mid to late January?
We did use an SEO company in the spring of 2012 that went on a link building campaign for us. They added about 450 inbound links over a three month period. Other than that - nothing has really change on the site.
We're getting ready to release a new version of our software that was being re-written during all of 2012, so the timing of losing our rankings is just awful.
Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated?
Thanks in advance,
Josh -
You have too much unnatural anchor text. It is a penalty without question. You must submit a reconsideration request to Google (so they confirm the penalty) then you must start clearing the spammy links.
This will take some time to fix. I recently cleared 3 massive Google penalties on clients sites (worse than yours). It takes time but it is definitely worth doing it properly. Do no try any tricks to get round it, they will only come back to bite you in the posterior.

Probably the link building if long tail variations are still ranking but the main keyword phrases you listed are now suppressed. the link building company probably is responsible for the penalty.

Check your Google Webmaster Tools for any messages. Try some exact match search terms to see if your site comes up.
3 month period and 450 links from 450 different domains? That is a pretty big deal, depending on how these links were built this could be the reason why.
I've had a previous site I was working on and getting the penalty removed and they only had about 50-100 bad links.

Will amp be effective in 2022?
Will AMP be effective in 2022? I am thinking of using AMP on my website since Core Web Vitals has become a ranking factor. For mobile devices, I guess AMP would be a good option to align with the Core Web Vital update.

Delay between being indexed and ranking for new pages.
I've noticed with the last few pages i've built that there's a delay between them being indexed and them actually ranking. Anyone else finding that? And why is it like that? Not much of an issue as they tend to pop up after a week or so, but I am curious. Isaac.

Whats next after I rank for many keywords?
I have a client who came to me wanting to know what's next for her as she already ranks in the top 5 for hundreds of keywords. She is right, her rankings for her niche are excellent and there are no relevant keywords for her to try and go after. What would be next to generate traffic? p.s She also has links from just about everyone in the industry that's relevant There has to be more "tricks" to seo besides keywords and link building

Organic Rank Volitility
Does anyone else see their organic rankings fluctuating wildly. I have been tracking a few key keywords by literaly typing them in each morning and looking at results. The pages I have been doing this for where without any doubt affected by Penguin as you can see the huge drop in traffic directly correlated to the Pegnuin deployment. What is strange is one day these phrases will be on page one position 3 and two days later but on page3 to 5 or not ranked. Four days later back on page 1. These are wild fluctuations so it appears to me that I am observing Penguin tweaking ? Just wish the tweaking would stop on one of the days were our phases for this particular site are on page one. Most people would check rankings weekly, monthly or quarter and would not perhaps be observing these crazy swings? Thought?

Google Algo Update In Que. What consititues over optimization?
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2401732,00.asp According to this, Google is bringing the hammer down soon on another 10-20% of the search results. While we don't advocate keyword stuffing, exchanging links, or anything too risky I am still concerned. Do we know if the example "perfectly optimized page"; http://www.seomoz.org/blog/perfecting-keyword-targeting-on-page-optimization is now going to be penalty bait? Is this over stuffing? Also, how might this effect ecommerce sites in particular?

Did we get hit by Panda? What do we do?
Hello, here's our site: nlpca(dot)com We had a big drop in rankings, going from about 19th to about 43rd for our main keyword and having significant drops in other keywords. This happened roughly 6 weeks ago We thought it was being caused by either: Placing keywords in titles before we had them in the content. or Trying to rank for Utah keywords - we're the NLP Institute of California and we are in both places now, but the site talks about mainly California. We changed both these things, and we're still at the low rankings. Will we move back up? What do we do? Will a backlink campaign be effective at this point?
