Is being listed in the McAfee Directory and displaying a McAfee Secure logo on your site worthwhile?
-
I am trying to decide whether or not to renew a plan with McAfee Secure. My initial thought was that displaying the logo was not worth the cost, and that I would be able to establish the same consumer confidence with a seal from Authorize.net.
Does anyone have an opinion on display the McAfee Secure seal and/or being listed in the McAfee directory.

My $0.02 (apologies if I'm soapboxing)
I wasn't terribly impressed with them back when they were Hackersafe. The idea was that they would scan for known vulnerabilities and report them to you. You could then post their banner on your site and claim to be "safe". But I came to realize it was a banner for rubes who don't have any idea about what it represents. In fact, they had me turn OFF some security features so they could scan us properly. They found a few things we could do better but a lot of their security alerts were notifying us a lot about updated packages, not realizing we were running packages with the same security fixes backported (it's a server admin thing). It's not just McAfee tho. I'd say the same about any security banner (i.e. Authorize.net). Most people don't have any idea why it's supposed to be safer, they're just supposed to "feel" safer. They don't stop a site from being hacked, or having its data compromised and these services will tell you, the server admin, that up front.

I agree with you that you'd be able to replicate that same level of consumer trust with Auhorize.net. In fact I'd say that Authorize is one of the leaders in the field regarding this, at least ahead of McAfee, so arguably you would earn more trust from that logo.
In terms of SEO, I can tell you now that you'd be receiving very little, if any at all, benefit from being listed in the McAfee directory, unless you were on like page 1 of the featured merchant section. If your hesitation in cancelling is hinging on that point, I'd quite categorically say you should cancel. You just won't be getting a lot of SEO benefit at all there.

Best to Include Phone Number as CTA Button in Mobile Version of B+B Web Site?
We are attempting to keep the number of CTAs (Calls to Action) on our commercial real estate website to a minimum. Our adjusted design (see attached) has 2 CTAs. One is "Contact Agent" the other is "Schedule a Tour". We are focusing on the listing page, which is the primary product page and critical in terms of CTA. Our mobile version does not show a phone number while the desktop version (also attached) displays a phone number. Should the mobile version also display a button a phone number? Some members of our target audiences, business owners and executives who are often in their 40s and 50s may prefer to call us up rather than communicate by written message. Any suggestions for elegantly displaying the phone number without causing confusion? I have read that the number of CTAs should be limited so I am on the fence as to whether or not to include a phone number Thanks,

Microsites vs. one site
My client has created a product that he wants to market to two, very different, audiences. The goal is to funnel them through the site and get them to purchase. My question is about the best SEO strategy on how to do this effectively. Since they are distinct audiences with little in common we've recommended building two microsites, and optimizing each with unique content and different keyword focus. I realize it will be harder to optimize two sites rather than one, but it seems to make sense from a user perspective. But once the users goes to a "non-audience specific" page, like any page that is about the product or company and not about the audience, should we build yet a third website that houses the "company/product pages" and channel the conversions there in order to avoid having duplicate content on the two other sites? Or should we put the same "company pages" on both the Audience A and Audience B websites, only vary the text so it doesn't look like duplicate content. Or is the microsite strategy flawed all together? Please keep in mind this is a brand new product and it has national scope. There is no local focus. We will be building their rankings entirely from scratch. I REALLY appreciate any insights you may have. We have been going around and around about this. Thanks

301 Redirects On Sold Vehicle Listings
This is a pretty basic question but I'm looking more for ideas relating to how to deal with an RV customer of mine. Basically we setup a vehicle listing system with WordPress for him. When old listings are deleted because they were sold I'm trying to decide on either 301 redirecting those 404 pages or keeping those pages and just changing the picture to sold while giving the person who's landed on the page some other options.

Root or sub domain for my site? (I forgot which I used to target)
Hi there, I'm sorry for what is most likely a daft question with an easy answer. I have searched the web but whilst there are lots of answers about this generally, nothing seems to answer my specific problem. I have just begun relaunching my site - workingfirstaid.co.uk - but basically cannot remember if I used to try and get links pointing to www.work... or work... I know I have so few links already that it probably doesn't really matter, but I don't want to spend time pointing to the wrong version. My internal links point to the non www version, but searching google for [working first aid] brings up the www version. Thanks in advance for your time! Cord

What is the best solution to track conversions on local plumbing site (non-mobile)?
What is the best solution to track conversions on our local plumbing site? 95% of leads coming from phone calls, the rest – from the contact form we have on every page. Is there a reliable solutions to track conversion rate for non-mobile local site? As a side note, we have 6 different phone numbers on our site that users can call in order to reach us.

Adblock Plus blocking Sponsored Link listings?
Been wondering for a while why sponsored links were not showing on my firefox browser, I had previously been running Adblock as an addon to stop ads on youtube, etc. As a test I disabled it and like magic adword links are showing again. Assuming programmes like this will get larger, and seemingly include adwords in the ad's it targets, would that be the end of effective PPC advertising? I have run other ad-blockers before and not lost the paid links. It's not an unpopular program, and the target audience reduces everytime somebody new installs it. Mountain out of a molehill or a genuine future problem?

14,000+ links a to one site - is this a problem?
First, thanks to those who have helped me before. Second, according to Google Webmaster there are about 14,765 external links to my site. According to Open Site Explorer I have 22. So a couple of questions: 1. Why such a discrepancy? 2. Of the 14,765 links shown in Google Webmaster 14,665 are all from one place and all link to my home page. The site is interiordesignproductfinder.com. In August of this year I bought a sponsorship there. There are several of these sponsors so which show up on a rotating basis. Will having 14,765 links all of a sudden showing up be grounds for some type of a Google downgrade? Why are there 14, 765 links instead of just one. Is a new link created every time our sponsorship rotates to the page? Another thing, in the past couple of months our conversions have dropped significantly. we average about 180 visits a day with a 50% bounce rate. Is there anything obvious thatt might have caused this drop? Thanks for any insights. Don www.uniquegiftsanddecor.com
