Reminder: PRIVATE Q&A going away
-
Hello everyone,
Just a quick reminder that today is the last day to ask a private question before we shut down private Q&A (see the full announcement at http://www.seomoz.org/q/private-question-shutdown).
We encourage you to submit your private question before 12:00 Pacific Daylight Time today (so in the next two hours). After that, you will no longer be able to ask new private questions, but any questions that have been asked will be answered over the next few days.
ONLY private Q&A is shutting down. Public Q&A is here to stay! You'll be seeing more activity in public Q&A from associates as they answer questions and endorse answers, and more feature development in public QA during the year.
-
Right!
I think that we will get a larger number of really interesting questions.... and will be great to see associates posting.
-
Looking forward to the more active and robust presence on the Public Q&A.

Duplicate Page Titles & Content
We have just launched a new version of a website and after running it through SEOMOZ we have over 6000 duplicate title & content errors. (awesome) 😕 We have products that show up multiple times under different URLs however we "thought" we had implemented the rel=canonical correctly. My question is - do these errors still show up in SEOMOZ despite the canonical tags being there OR if they were "correct" would we be getting "zero" errors?

SEOMoz Q&A having some issues?
Apologies if this has been asked. I was browsing Q&A and got a Ruby error page, reloaded and everything was fine. However a bunch of the topics are kind of messed up, and it looks like a chunk of them are missing now. For example my 'questions I've answered' section of My Q&A only has the newest question and the oldest question, and when I sort the SEOMoz Tools category by newest I get one recent post and then the next one is from November of last year. You guys having database problems?

OSE Domains & Subdomains
Is there a compelling reason that OSE treats subdomains as part of a parent domain, rather than as a separate site? Or is this just a technical limitation? I ask because it's my understanding that Google treats subdomains more like separate domains than like parts of the parent domain. OSE treating them more like folders creates some frustrating situations when researching niches that are heavily filled with blospot and wordpress.com blogs. First of all, the domain authority in these situations is not at all indicative of the strength of the site. It also makes it hard to evaluate linking root domains at a glance, since all blogspot blogs count as one domain. So to see all blogspot sites linking you have to go to the full link list -- where each site may be listed hundreds of times -- and you can't group them because they're all considered the same domain. To be sure you when researching these niches you can just throw out domain authority as a metric, and export every report to excel where you can sort things in a way to make it easier to separate sites. But if there isn't a compelling SEO reason to have OSE function this way, I'd love to see those subdomains treated as separate sites so I can have access to all the easy to use SEOmoz metrics and layouts without the extra work. And of course if there is a compelling SEO reason for subdomains to be treated as domains, I'd love to be educated! : )

How to handle crawl diagnostic errors for the same url. /products & /products/
I have copied on of the errors out of the crawl diagnostics report. Both /products and /products/ are returning an error, and both have pretty good domain authority so I feel like its hurting my site that these show up this way. Both urls create the same page, should I just setup a 301 on the /products with no slash or will that cause more harm... I am using the MODx cms system and that could have something to do with it. | Products | Datalight http://www.datalight.com/products 1 37 5 Products | Datalight http://www.datalight.com/products/ | 1 | 30 | 1 |
