Is it me or Google?

Hi All,
I'm new here so take it easy on me..
OK, basically i have had a SEO company for about 3 years, they did a wonderful job, for the last 12 months or so i have been in top 1-3 positions for pretty much every keyword i wanted...
On Jan 17th, that all changed, suddenly google doesnt like something about my site... for the sake of this questions lets focus purely on the keyword "CCTV", i use to be 1st or 2nd, it varied...
Since Jan 17th i am all over the place, today alone, i was 9th this morning, then 13th, then 22nd...
I am working on a lot of things my SEO company told me to do, with regards my site, obviously this is going to take time...
but my big concern is that google doesnt seem to know where to rank me lol, i mean, at least if they settled on a place i.e 22nd, then i have a stable base to work from...
Has anyone seen this kind of thing before, and can i expect at somepoint google decides to simply remove me?
Any advice welcome.

There was some activity reported in http://mozcast.com/events for January 2013. Also, have you checked to see if anything was done by webmasters of your website around that time?

only warning i ever got was on 24th Dec 2012:
"Search results clicks for http://www. mysite .co.uk/ have decreased significantly.
The number of clicks that your site receives from Google can change from day to day for a variety of factors, including automatic algorithm updates. However, if you have recently made significant changes to the content or configuration of your site, this change may be an indication that there are problems."
there were two odd things about this, i didnt start losing visitors until Jan 17th... so it seems google told me what was going to happen in future...
Secondly in my webmaster tools there is two accounts, www version, and non www version.... this warning was in the non www version, even thou i have told google via settings i prefer the www version.
i've never had google say any duplicate issues etc... however when i joined SEOmoz PRO yesterday, that picked up the non www as duplicate content... so just to be sure i have asked my host to redirect from non www to www version.
The above warning is not a penalty is it?

Rankings change constantly so it's not uncommon to see different rankings when performing manual searches on Google. For this reason I tend to track rankings with the rank tracker tool in SEOmoz.
I'm not sure what your SEO company has recommended but have you checked to see if you have any warnings in Webmaster Tools? If you took a major hit you may have a penalty and that would be the first thing I would check.

I can't answer your issue specifically, but you might want to think about using a URL shortener when posting your company URL for the 'good' reason you stated.

Google indexing https sites by default now, where's the Moz blog about it!
Hello and good morning / happy Friday! Last night an article from of all places " Venture Beat " titled " Google Search starts indexing and letting users stream Android apps without matching web content " was sent to me, as I read this I got a bit giddy. Since we had just implemented a full sitewide https cert rather than a cart only ssl. I then quickly searched for other sources to see if this was indeed true, and the writing on the walls seems to indicate so. Google will now begin to index HTTPS equivalents of HTTP web pages, even when the former don’t have any links to them. However, Google will only index an HTTPS URL if it follows these conditions: It doesn’t contain insecure dependencies. It isn’t blocked from crawling by robots.txt. It doesn’t redirect users to or through an insecure HTTP page. It doesn’t have a rel="canonical" link to the HTTP page. It doesn’t contain a noindex robots meta tag. It doesn’t have on-host outlinks to HTTP URLs. The sitemaps lists the HTTPS URL, or doesn’t list the HTTP version of the URL. The server has a valid TLS certificate. One rule that confuses me a bit is : **It doesn’t redirect users to or through an insecure HTTP page. ** Does this mean if you just moved over to https from http your site won't pick up the https boost? Pages fluctuating +/- 70 positions in Google SERPs?
I've got some pages that appear somewhere around #25 in Google. Every now and then, it just goes away from the top 100 results for a few days (even up to a week) and then it comes back. I've got other pages that rank around #8 which falls down to about #75 for a while and then it comes back. But while a page may be gone from the top 100 results in the US, it still ranks at about the same place everywhere else in the world (+/- 10 positions). I've seen this happen in the past but never it happened so often. What gives?!?

Rankings changing every couple of MINUTES in Google?
We've been experiencing some unusual behaviour in the Google.co.uk SERPs recently... Basically, the ranking of some of our websites for certain keywords appears to be changing by the minute. For example, doing a search for "our keyword" might show us at #20. Then a few minutes later, doing the same search shows us at #14, and then the same search a few minutes later shows us at #26, and then sometimes we're not ranked at all, etc etc. I know the algorithm changes a lot, but does it really change every couple of minutes? Has anyone else experienced this kind of behaviour in the SERPs? What could be causing it to happen?

Google.ca English and French returning different rankings
French Keyword : "Chauffage électrique" Currently Ranking 4th on Google.ca (French) It is not even top 50 on Google.ca (English) Why so much gap between them? Both are on Google.ca, just different language. Also, when searching the keyword on Google.ca (English), all the results shown are in french anyway ! Why is mine way off ? How can I help the ranking on the EN version? Why does Google.ca FR and EN have different rankings?
