Blog Commenting, how to start?
-
Greetings Mozzers,
I have read that interacting on blogs in a natural way is good for building relationships as well as earning links. This is what I'd like to do, however what is the best way to find blogs to start doing this for different industries?
Google [industry blogs]? Go to competitors and look at their link profiles to see if there are blogs they are on?
Whats a good way to start this method?
All the advice/clarification would be outstanding!

Use Open Site Explorer on your research tools, find the competitors that are ranking at the top and see the types of links they have. Remember to use branded terms as well as the odd anchor text though!

I've found Google reader can be useful although it's going to be shut down soon. Also if you use a bit of free thinking outside of the auto-suggested ideas (nothing wrong with these), you're more likely to find what others miss.

Hey James,
Thanks for your advice, I will definitely play with this tool. Seems like it is a good way to start.

Poor Blog and Website DA and links
Hi There We have a mature website and a mature blog with over 500 genuine blogs written on it over 4 years. In terms of actual "people" value it has to be high. We used to get 1000 visitors per day, we now get 300. We still have 850 subscribers so its of a certain size. However we have been hit by the Penguin/Panda updates and our DA has dropped to what everyone is telling us is too low for a site like this and we still have a google backlink problem, unyet we only have 190 external links that we think are all OK now. The problem we have is that we seem to have too many links from the blog to the main website with the same anchor text. This has occurred with a blogroll style link to the home page which appears on every post/page of the blog, also I think we have too many anchor same anchor text links to product pages (Motorola ES400) and category pages (Tablet PC). We're going through changing these now so that we have the right mix but the specific questions I wanted to ask were: 1. Will loads of links with the same anchor text affect us if the blog is counted as internal links. Its on the same "blog" sub-domain as the main website. 2. Will this affect the DA of both sites? 3. Is Wordpress capable of damaging us with all the extra pages it creates automatically. We've done nothing but genuine content posting here and i'm sure we can get it back but it kind of really demotivates you when 2/3rds of your traffic goes overnight. Many thanks for any help.

Blog on subdomain?
Hello, I am going to add a blog to my site.
Link Building | | AdAdam
I use cloudfront CDN to host my whole site (its a 1 page parallax type thing now)
With cloudfront I can not easily do dynamic content but it is possible. So I have a few options blog.mydomain.com pointing to a regular server
www.mydomain.com/blog/ uploading static html pages for my blog, its a slight hassel but not too bad What could be best for SEO? will having blog.mydomain.com be seen that much differently to google? are they smart enough to see it as just another section of my site? Another spanner in the works is that I have a domain for australia and a totally different domain for international sales with no content or structure duplication between them
Could I maybe be better off with a myname.wordpress.com blog and linking it to both my domains?
There are a ton of spam wordpress blogs so I am not sure what would be best. My blog will not be intended for just SEO purposes.0 -
Is Blog Commenting still an acceptable way of linking
Hi, Is it still acceptable to blog comment as a way of build keyword related links to your site? I see a lot of it and of and 98% looks spammy and obvious.. But I just wondered as so many people seem to do it and they seem to get results within google, However my feeling is that they will get burnt sooner or later Thakns,

Do follow Blog comments
Alright,
Link Building | | sebastiankoch
I would like to know what do you think about this practice in general and hear some answer for my case. My case: I know a net of different blogs that let you put do follow comments as long as they are good. It is not really a lot of spam going on yet, around 6 comments per blog entry. The do follow link is in the form www.xyz.com. Normally a PR 3 after the post ranks.
There are around 20 different blogs. I have already use them and I believe with good results but can´t measure it as I do many other SEO activities. Would you recommend to get to invest time commenting in all of them? Even if all them are in the same C-block? Please feel free to share any experience!

Performancing.com guest blogging service ok?
Hi MozFans, A client is interested in working with the guest blogging service of performancing.com. They seem to have a lot of good contentwriters and post on (most) niche blogs. Guestblogging is a good thing for seo, when it's on relevant sites with a quality article.

The client hasn't got a lot of time to write and find blogs himself. Any positive or negative experiences?
Or other options 🙂 Thanks!1 -
Competiton Creating Links from high ranking blogs through comments?
So I have been noticing that a lot of my competition is leaving a lot of non sense comments on high ranking blogs. What they are doing is either A. Linking the username they are using back to the page they want to link or B. Within their comment on that blog leaving their URL in the text or end of comment. Question is does this even work to get links back to your page? Is this that even ethical SEO? Might be a dumb questions but how am i suppose to fight this when its already hard enough to come up with unique content for a e commerce site and then i have to battle my competition doing this?

No Follow Blogs. Do they help with keyword density?
I know no follow blogs don't pass page rank or link juice, but do they aid in help with making your site know for a specific keyword when you use anchor text?
