Seo back linking proposal review
-
Hi guys, below is a proposal i received from someone on freelancer.com for some seo building.
Is this really all it takes? Obviously done overtime but basically is this it aside from the usual basics onsite keywords, urls, artciles, content etc.
This is a the proposal for $250 (some are cheaper but almost the same details as below). This is one of the top seo people on freelancers.com and they all have good reviews. Is this basically it? Shell out $100 bucks or more a month to someone who will just post stuff all over the internet. It just seems all very simple, what is $100 bucks a month to stay at #1. Is there any real questions i should ask to make sure i am not just throwing my money away?
I would like to recommend the following services for attaining better search results for the website.
1)Press Release Submissions
2)Social bookmarking submissions
3)Drip Feed Article Links - 100 Article submissions everyday for 25 days
4)Article directory submissions
5)Link directory submissions
6)Blog Post Submissions(All Blogs have PR1 to PR6)
7)Wiki Page Submissions(.EDU and .GOV Sites Included)PR of the directories, social bookmarking websites, Blogs, wiki pages and Article directories are from PR0 to PR8.
Most of them are in the range of PR1 to PR4.If you are interested in the above services then these are the details about those services.

I would also suggest reading the Beginner's Guide to SEO, especially the link building section at http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo/growing-popularity-and-links.
Personally, I would rather do nothing at all than do a package like the one above. The one above just means that at some point, I'm going to need to spend a lot of time to clean up those junk links. I view this as similar to spending a couple of hundred dollars a month to provide someone with spray paint to put your URL on the side of a building. It's about the same quality. Again, this is my personal opinion, and not the official voice of SEOmoz, but we take a fairly similar if more muted stance on these type of packages.
Spun articles are junk. My favorite is an example of a post on alcoholism -- instead of "think before you drink" it read "think before you beverage".
Here's an example of an .edu link. http://courses.csusm.edu/ricastudy/module01/discussion01/_disc1/00008603.htm They're not all quality.
Ok, stepping down off the soapbox. You have a number of trusted community members here that are also giving you great advice. Those with Authority, Guru, and Oracle underneath their names have been around for a while and have lots of participation and are generally good people to listen to.

No one has really even mentioned what i should look for.
What you should look for depends upon your website and the industry and people you are trying to reach.
Before you spend any time promoting your site it should be an excellent resource for someone. If you don't have than then the first job you need to do is create a good website.
Once you have that resource the place to promote it is to people who are interested. You target for success.

My opinion is that freelancer.com is not a good place to find quality SEO services. The problem is that developers are competing against low cost workers in places like India which is forcing everyone to drive their prices down and the end result is that the quality of work delivered suffers too. Everyone is trying to turn a quick profit by doing as little as possible.
I would agree with the above comments, this is not a quality SEO package as it is mostly based on strategies that used to work but have drastically been devalued by search engines recently (do some research on Google Penguin for instance) and is more likely to get your website penalised in future. I have sadly had the experience of trying to recover from these penalties and trust me when I say it's not something you want to go through.
Why do these guys have great reviews? it could be a number of reasons. As mentioned already the reviews are not all genuine. Another major reason is that the majority of the users buying SEO services do not understand that what they bought was low quality! They see the work has been delivered quickly and are happy and offer a good review, they may even have an initial improvement in rankings. What the review may not tell you is that they picked up a penalty months down the line when the work is paid for and Google has caught on (it's happened to me).
What would I recommend The sad truth is that today when buying SEO services you need to become fairly SEO savvy yourself because there are still far too many black hat SEO's trying to make quick money who will offer you these services. Spend time on this forum, read the articles and become familiar with which tactics are future proof and which tactics are now considered black hat and dangerous. This way to can judge for yourself if a proposal is offering you value. Try find a local agency or freelancer who you can talk to easily or meet in person rather than someone who will do quick work and then you will never be able to contact again. Link building is an expensive game now because there is no quick, safe and easy way to get results any more! If you have a low budget then go after one quality link pre month rather than 100's of rubbish links. You need to find the right people who have the skills to get your content in front of the right people in your industry and build natural links.
It's probably not what you wanted to hear but hope that helps in some way.

"No one has really even mentioned what i should look for"
EGOL and some others have recommended some actions that you could take. Develop a content marketing strategy. There's a whole lot of posts about this subject in SEOMoz. Here's one to start with: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/99-ways-to-build-links-by-giving-stuff-away-and-improve-your-brand-too-14029
"All of these people cant be all getting scammed or else they would not have any good reviews."
There's a lot of fake reviews on freelance.com, elance.com and the likes.
"The basic answer is just email people for links, well i am sure you know its more than that."
How about emailing people OFFERING help and build relationship with them?
"Some day i will find someone who is willing to share some kind of secret."
There are 2 rules to success:
1. Never tell all your secrets
-
Hi i am not doubting anyone. This is a discussion isnt it? I am just trying to find answers and some solutions that may work. There has to be someone on there who provides good service. No one has really even mentioned what i should look for. Everyone answer is always never pay but never any real advise. This forum should be about questions and answers? All i got was a reply but not actual help. But your coming at me like i am being ungrateful. I know there is many companies out there who pay people for these kinds of services so i dont think paying is nothing crazy. All of these people cant be all getting scammed or else they would not have any good reviews. I know nothing happens over night and i am not looking for miracles just things to help outside of onpage seo. The basic answer is just email people for links, well i am sure you know its more than that. I am no expert but its not my first time trying to look for answers. Some day i will find someone who is willing to share some kind of secret.

In this field, it can take some time to learn what an "expert" is or isn't. One may learn from trial and error or from copious reading but in either case, it requires an open mind, an understanding of your own level of knowledge as compared to those who are providing input, an ability to absorb a lot of information and relate it to a foundation of knowledge that regarded as the law of the land. A sound understanding of marketing is a big plus, too.
I sense from your question that you may be new to this forum, although I see you've been a member for a few years. I also sense by your subsequent replies that you may doubt the wisdom of a recognized authority here.
If I may do so, I'd like to offer a bit of wisdom myself: The senior people in this forum are not trying to sell you anything and will not steer you wrong. They give good advice and are worth listening to.
-
Yes.
That proposal is low value to dangerous in my opinion.
You asked for a review. That's what I think.
"we spin and post to 700 PR1 to PR5 blogs."
That is how you get in trouble. This is trash.
-
What he is trying to say is the package doesnt offer anything of value. I would say that 90% of what he is proposing is automated and spun content. I think you meed to realize how much time all of that would take if submitted manually. I would run for the hills or hire a reputable consultant here for more money
-
so your saying basically every other person who is giving reviews is getting scammed or no results? Basically every "expert" is all basically offering almost the same with a few differences and maybe quantity
-
That package isn't going to get you into the top ten either.
-
Sorry but i highly doubt website alone will get me top 10 no matter how much i spend on content if i do not do any offsite work. There is some people who are offering them for $100 but this one has a good record. I need more backlinks and offsite work.
-
I would rather spend $250 on a great article for my website, an inexpensive digital camera to take photos for my website or a new deluxe coffee machine for my office.
I would not use any of the services that were offered to you.
None. Most of them are spam, useless or even dangerous in my opinion.
Spend the money to improve your website.

Link with Anchor to header of the page: Keyword is ranking
I saw something interesting this week. I am doing research and spec-ing out a content page we are creating and one of our competitors "office Depot" on their phone repair page create exact match keywords that lead to an anchor that took you to the header of that pages. They were ranking first for all of those keywords with little to no links Thier strategy is the more local long tail that includes "near me" Have you guys ever seen this
White Hat / Black Hat SEO | | uBreakiFix
this is the URL: https://www.officedepot.com/a/content/customer-service/samedayrepair/ They are ranking for these keywords ( Top 3 nationally ) iphone 6 repair near me iphone 7 repair near me I am assuming that this is both due to their PA and DA authority shifting the authority to itself, but it does not make sense how they are lacking in a lot of SEO low-hanging fruits like H1/H2 keyword saturation, URL, Title Tag within this content page....Anyone up for discussing this?0 -
More or Less pages helps in SEO?
Hi all, I have gone through some articles where less pages are suggested and they claim that they will be favoured by Google. I'm not sure as with limited pages, we can only target limited keywords. There might be threat from Google in-terms of doorway pages for more pages. But one of our competitor has many pages like dedicated page for every keyword. And their website ranks high and good for all keywords. I can see three pages created with differnet phrases for same on keyword. If less pages are good, how come this works for our competitor? Thanks

'SEO Footers'
We have an internal debate going on right now about the use of a link list of SEO pages in the footer. My stance is that they serve no purpose to people (heatmaps consistently show near zero activity), therefore they shouldn't be used. I believe that if something on a website is user-facing, then it should also beneficial to a user - not solely there for bots. There are much better ways to get bots to those pages, and for those people who didn't enter through an SEO page, internal linking where appropriate will be much more effective at getting them there. However, I have some opposition to this theory and wanted to get some community feedback on the topic. Anyone have thoughts, experience, or data to share on this subject?

Hit by negative SEO
I think my site got hit by a negative SEO campaign. We got nailed by the latest Google update and our traffic dropped significantly. We don't buy links, ask for links, do link exchanges, etc. Since the last update was all about spammy backlinks, I downloaded backlinks from Google Webmaster Tools just to see if there was any info in there. There are tons, hundreds, thousands of backlinks from spammy sites to us. Sites that are spammy as heck and sell backlinks on the footer. I can only assume someone went after us with a negative SEO campaign. We're the #3 site in a hot market. Is the only way to combat this to disavow all those spammy backlinks with the Google disavow tool? We also have a manual penalty on our site as well. I've asked for a reconsideration request and have heard nothing. Please advise.

Client spent almost a year with link wheels and mass link blasts - end result was getting caught by google. I have taken over, we;ve revamped the site and I'm finishing up with onsite optimization. Would anyone have any suggestions how to undo the damage of the unnatural links and get back into googles favour a little quicker? Or the best next steps to undo the damage.

On page SEO? (This is good! I promise)
I have been doing some research on onsite optimization and I hit a dead end, need some help with OnSite.... These three I get for the most part... (If you would like to add anything please do) Title optimization - needs to be unique with keywords included under 90 words Meta description - needs to be unique with keywords included under 150 words Meta keywords – all keywords Questions begin here... H1 headings – Should this be the first thing the spider crawls? Should they be unique? Is there a penalty for having this content the same on every page? (H1s are under the logo at the top of every one of my sites pages) H2-H6 headings – Should they be unique? Is there a penalty for having this content the same on every page? Bold text – does this matter for SEO? Italic text - does this matter for SEO? Link anchor text – These are the same on most pages. However, most of these links are part of the navigation, does this matter for SEO? is this duplicate? how does the search engine analyze this data? Image alt attributes – I have the share image buttons on my site (Facebook, Twitter, etc...) and they have the same alt attributes on each page. Does this matter for SEO? Body text – I found a competitor site that’s ranking #1 for a key term. This competitor has 11,106 words in their body with the keyword mentioned 29 times (0.8%). They placed all this text in a small scroll down on the bottom of their page. Its strange how they included it. Please review attached image. the competitor URL is http://www(dot)1804design(dot)com/ w6AiM.png
