Meta Description
-
Working with a business that is having some real issues.
They had some client information that was showing up in the meta description. Personal phone numbers for example. Our developers removed all the information from the pages in question two days ago, but we are still seeing the info in the meta description. Any idea how long this will take to be recrawled and fixed?
Anything I can do to get recrawled sooner?
Also, this is only happening in Bing/Yahoo and not in Google.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Bing Webmaster Tools should be able to help here.
http://www.bing.com/webmaster/help/submit-urls-to-bing-62f2860a
You can submit up to 10 urls a day for immediate crawl. I know the point is for new sites but this should be effective for you as well.

Google Six Pack Meta Descriptions
Anyone know of some good resources on the way to control the meta descriptions in the Google six pack for a branded search. Google appears to often bypass the meta description and pull random text from the page. We have tested this by adding the brand name to the meta description and this appears to help but doesn't always sort the issue. You often get the same results with the site comand. It not really an SEO issue more a branding one. Anyone get any ideas or resources they can point me at?

Different meta descriptions for same page
Hi Depending what terms I put into Google I am seeing a different meta description for exactly the same page. I have checked Umbraco CMS and everything seems in working order. Is there a reason this would be happening? Anyone else had trouble like this?

Why Google ranks a page with Meta Robots: NO INDEX, NO FOLLOW?
Hi guys, I was playing with the new OSE when I found out a weird thing: if you Google "performing arts school london" you will see w w w . mountview . org. uk at the 3rd position. The point is that page has "Meta Robots: NO INDEX, NO FOLLOW", why Google indexed it? Here you can see the robots.txt allows Google to index the URL but not the content, in article they also say the meta robots tag will properly avoid Google from indexing the URL either. Apparently, in my case that page is the only one has the tag "NO INDEX, NO FOLLOW", but it's the home page. so I said to myself: OK, perhaps they have just changed that tag therefore Google needs time to re-crawl that page and de-index following the no index tag. How long do you think it will take to don't see that page indexed? Do you think it will effect the whole website, as I suppose if you have that tag on your home page (the root domain) you will lose a lot of links' juice - it's totally unnatural a backlinks profile without links to a root domain? Cheers, Pierpaolo

Meta description not showing as per view source on Google results
On our website recyclingbins.co.uk the meta decsription of the homepage under view source is - Recycling bins offers the largest range of recycling bins for schools, homes, offices and other venues. With free delivery on everything and lowest prices guaranteed.

But if you searched for our website in Google the meta description it shows is: Offers recycling binsfor offices, schools and the home. Someone has already suggested it must be cached. I do not think this could be possible as we are fairly regularly crawled and it has been like this for weeks and weeks. No one seems to have much idea. could you possibly share any light? I am not concerned from an SEO perspective, but more from a click through perspective.Thank youJon0 -
Correct Way to Write Meta
OK so this is a really, really basic question. However, I'm seeing some meta written differently to normal and I'm wondering if a) this is correct and b) whether there is any benefit. Normally it's like this: However, I am seeing it written like this is some places: So, the content= and name= are swapped around. I assume the people that did this were thinking that bringing the content forward would mean that Google reads keywords first. Just wondering if anybody knows whether this is good practice or not? Just spiked my interest so apologies for the basic nature of the question!

Meta data in includes: not ideal or a problem?
I have pages with meta data being pulled in via an include. This was to prevent people from touching the pages themselves. Is this an optimization issue- or is it OK to do?
