Is <title>different from <h1> and "meta tag title"?</title>

hi guys, new to MOZ and SEO. Basic question here.
is <title>different from <h1> and "meta tag title"?</p> <p>I have lots of "title missing or blank" errors as reported by a recent Moz crawl. What do i need to add into the pages to clear these? an <h1>? an <title>? or <meta tag title>? </p> <p>Im running a volusion site, and from what ive read (negative & positive) Volusion can be a pain to optimize my SEO as i dont have full access to all my pages.?</p></title>

thanks monica, ive been doing the same with my h1s and the individual product pages. It's certainly time consuming. ill avoid the custom meta sections as well.

I just moved out of Volusion, and yes, there are some issues with that platform, specifically URL structure, that make optimizing a pain. Ryan gave you awesome instructions. I would just say do not use the custom meta tag field, it is buggy and creates issues sometimes.
URL text is what shows after the .com/ but before the p/1234.htm
Photo Alt text is your alt image tag
meta tag description is your meta description
The meta tags override is kind of buggy, I wouldn't use it.
There are no automated h1 tags on product pages, so I used to add them manually at the top of the Product Description box. I would just copy the product name and throw an h1 tag around it. The same for h2,3, and 4. For some reason Volusion doesn't automate that.

Hi Jason. For Volusion specifically, here's their instructions on it: http://support.volusion.com/article/setting-meta-tags-volusion-store-homepage ...
- Log in to your Admin Area and go to Marketing > SEO.
- Select Enable Search Engine Optimization Friendly URLs under the Search Engine Friendly URLs heading.
- Enter values in to the Meta Tag Title, Meta Tag Descriptions, and Meta Tag Keywords fields for the default values and any pages you want to assign specific tags to and click Save.
- Advanced users can enter their own custom meta tags by selecting Meta Tags Override and entering custom meta information into the Meta Tags Override fields for each page.
So you'll want to edit/add what they call the "Meta Tag Title" in order to clean up those errors. Cheers!

A missing title is your meta title, it is the words you see in the tabs on your browser.
H1 elements are in your copy, each page should have one, and it should be the main focus of the page.

Meta Title Tags - Quick question!
Hi all, Our category Meta Title Tags are a little woeful and so I'm in the process of rewriting them. Let's say you have a product for sale.... some inkjet cartridges for a Canon BJ10V printer for example. In an effort to keep things concise I was thinking that for this category I should have the meta title set simply as: 'Canon BJ10V Inkjet Cartridges' and perhaps our company name after this text (and a pipe delimiter) This takes us just under 50 characters which is ideal but doesn't include any real keyword variation and will result in the company name being duplicated at the tail of the title tag on 6,000 odd pages. A large number of my competitors have title tags along the lines of: 'Canon BJ10V Cheap Inkjet Cartridges for Canon BJ-10V Ink Printers' I understand the reasoning behind this but does the variation of keywords compensate for the fact that the title looks spammy (to both humans and Search Engines). What would you do? Keep it clean and concise or stuff the title full of keywords. In the event of the former would you include the company name in each title in the knowledge they would be well under 50 characters without? Thanks for your help.

Bars Verus Hyphens in Title Tags
It has been quite a while since I have seen an article really talk about this and I am wondering if this even matters anymore? I prefer the look of a - rather than a | but just wondering if this is still a thing... If you know of a recent article going into findings on this supporting one or the other it would be appreciated. Thanks!

Does bing accept meta name="fragment" for AJAX crawling?
I have a case in which the whole site is AJAX, the method to appease to crawlers used is <meta< span="">name="fragment" content="!"> Which is the new HTML5 PushState that Bing said it supports (At least I think it is that) This approach works for Google, but Bing isn't showing anything. Does anyone know if Bing supports this and we have to alter something or if not is there a known work around? The only other logic we have is to recognize the bing user agent and redirect to the rendered page, but we were worried that could cause some kind of cloaking penalty</meta<>

Rel="next"
Hi I was just wondering if there is any difference in using rel='next' rather than rel="next". Would it still work the same way? I mean using the apostrophes differently, would it matter? Thanks!

Googleoff/on tags
Hi all, I'd like to restrict Google indexing a part of content on the page. Does tag really work for it as it described on https://developers.google.com/search-appliance/documentation/46/admin_crawl/Preparing#pagepart? Thanks, Jane
