How do I change Yahoo directory listing?
-
Years ago an old employee put us on Yahoo. The information is no longer correct and I have no idea who put us on or when. Does anyone have a suggestion? Or an email to contact yahoo?
-
I can't say for sure who you could talk to unfortunately. I've heard from a handful of sources that the Yahoo Directory is operating on a skeleton crew, to say the least, and they're not very prompt with rebilling and similar maintenance.

I have successfully got in, I found the guy who originally set it up ten years ago. I am in the account but I can't renew the order. My only option is to do a sponsor listing for 50 a month. I just want to reactivate it for the $299 a month. I can't find anywhere to do it. Any ideas or know anyone I can talk to?

Hi Niners - the page that Mike linked to contains the following recommendation:
"On the change form, we ask for the email address you originally used to submit your request. If you can't remember it, use the form anyway, including any possible addresses in the "Message" area. This helps us locate your record."
So, go ahead and submit the changes and let them know you forgot the email but you can be reached at xxxxx@mydomain.com and that should be sufficient enough for them to trust your change submission.

I tried going through that but the problem is I have to know the original email that was associated with the listing and I don't know that.

According to Yahoo, "...If you need to make a change to your listing in the Directory (this includes changing the URL, title, and/or description of the existing site), you must use the change form, NOT Yahoo! Directory Submit."
I think this is the change form and here is some additional info from Yahoo on "How do I suggest changes to my Directory listing?"

- The site already exists in the Yahoo! Directory
Please correct and resubmit your information below. |

This is the error I get with no options. I can't find anyway to contact them either. No customer help phone or email either. Not sure what else to do. I will look at Getlist.org and see if they have anything interesting.
Thanks

You should attempt to create a listing here: http://listings.local.yahoo.com/overview.php
You may be prompted that you already have a listing; however, I would think you should be able to claim it if you can provide the phone number, address (sometimes they will send you a postcard), or company email address.
And since you are on the "local directory" topic, I would suggest using GetList.org to see where your company is listed and list your company in any of the directories which it is not already listed in.
Hope this helps.
Mike

Changing domain names... Bad idea?
We are re-doing a clients e-commerce website. Before I had entered them on SEO moz we had decided to change their domain name to one with a keyword inside. I had not known that they had an online marketing company previous working for them. They have a domain authority of 42 right now. It would be a horrible idea to switch their domain right? I looked at some of the links, they all have a variety of good anchor text. But alot of the links are coming from sites or directory categories that are not relative. We are also planning on doing 301 re-directs for the links. But this will not transfer the domain authority to the new domain right? Any thoughts?

Which Article Directories are still relevant?
Hi, I know Article Directories are not valued as high as they once were and many took a hit from Google. But are there any Article Directories that are still worth posting content on? Thanks!

What do the "best" backlink profiles look like, in terms of percentages from quality content, bookmarks, social media, directories, etc?
I recognize that there is no such thing as one ideal link profile, per se, but I am curious, if you sampled 100 high authority sites, what would their inbound links look like on average, broken out by source type? Some sites would have a ton of social sharing due to their funny pop-cultural content, while others might be quoted and linked in context for their brilliant insights. A very technical resource might gain a lot of links from forum discussions. If I can complete this exercise on my own, I welcome your advice on how to do that with OSE or the like.
