How can i make our social network site rank higher?
-
Our site is currently not in the first 3 pages of Google. it is a social networking site that requires users to login/ register. Much of the content is therefore user generated and is as diverse as the users themselves.
The problem is that SEOmoz crawler is not even picking up the keywords i inserted into the site. Does this mean that Google is not even picking them up as well?
Our site is www.yookos.com
We are using JIVE, which is best suited for intranets. What can i do to improve the site's rankings?

Hi,
The meta keyword tag is pretty much useless in terms of ranking, so if these are the keywords you are referring to then I would not expect to see any results.
In terms of improving rankings, in the first instance you will need to give the search engines (and users!) some more information about what your site offers. Having a quick look at your homepage I have no idea what yookos offers that would make me want to register. I would recommend getting some text into the homepage describing who your site is aimed at and why it is different from other social type sites.
Your page title for example is 'Log in with your Username | Yookos', this is not helping the search engines understand what your site is about! The same comment goes for your meta description: 'Yookos is one of the leading and fastest growing social networking sites that provides a safe and engaging environment for users.'. Why is it a leading and fast growing network? Who is the main target audience(s)?
Beyond the homepage, it would help to get some more indexable pages on the site. Some ideas might include users guide or frequently asked questions type pages which will give you some more content that you can use to explain what the site is all about to users that have not already registered and also give the search engines some more information and pages they can use in the serps.
Hope that helps!

Site relaunch, should I be worried?
Hi Everyone, Hope your all doing well. Im about 1 week away from relaunching my website and im a little worried it might hurt my rankings. Basically im trying to make the website better, so its undergone a massive overhaul such as being made responsive on tablet + mobile, completely redesigned colours etc so now a flat design bringing less images in the hope to increase load times, navigation is more of a silo structure to try and make everything that bit more relevant and to cut down on clutter for users. I haven't touched the urls so they will stay the same but I have stripped and added new content because as the years have passed, reflecting back some of it is basic and not professional enough - so ive had it reproduced by a copywriter. I've also gone through the social channels and stripped out some content from there (almost reset them) because the style of the content and design no longer aligns with the new design and voice of the new site. Without a doubt the site is much better (been in dev for 2 months) im just worried Google might not like something? It's a shame really because I should be excited but all im worried about is Google spanking it.

Facebook Page likes vs Webpage facebook likes - Social Media Query
I have a website and a facebook page. I have the Facebook Social Plugin on my website which shows my facebook page likes - This is currently at approx 140 likes. Is there a difference between facebook page likes and webpage likes? For SEO purposes, should I be concentrating less on the Facebook page and more on building facebook likes for the website? Are there any guides on this? What gets people to like a website as opposed to a web-page?

Synnd.com and Related Sites
What is everyone thoughts on Synnd.com and other sites that try to manipulate the "social signals" aspect of SEO. Am I right for thinking that it is waste of time because it is not related to your niche and all the accounts in the network are just spam accounts with lots of spammy looking links that add no value. I just feel time spent getting a retweet about your site from related authority sites would do far more than a ton of crap ones.

How can you bulk search by email for social networks?
Hello Everyone! We're trying to launch a Social Media campaign for our website and in order to reach more people and follow/invite them to our social profiles we thought of finding them by their email addresses (i read a post somewhere - maybe seomoz, maybe not can't remember). Can anyone suggest a tool or best way of researching ~20.000 email addresses to find out / filter what social networks have this email registered? Much appreciated! Alex

Does it make sense to have one facebook/twitter account for multiple websites?
If you have several different websites with related themes, does it make sense to just have a facebook or twitter page for the company to make managing the account more manageable?

Working with 3rd PArty Social Media partners / paid blogs
Hi there! We are an ecommerce company based in the UK and are an online butcher. We are looking to further our contribution and authority in a social sphere, in particular develop relations with bloggers and social sites who are realised to have authority in our sphere (food / meat). At present we are active in the usual (Twitter, Facebook etc) and have over 1000 likes and followers. We also have a cool blog which can be found at <cite>www.donaldrussell.com/weblog/index.html</cite> We are looking at our content and would like to share this with other bloggers in return for backlinks and visits from these blogs, and in turn improve our pagerank and SEO ratings. I have been offered the chance to work with EBuzzing, who claim to get your content published and referred to but you have to pay these "bloggers" for the privelage. Is this a good way of furthering our social strategy in the short term, or is this the wrong way to go and do search engines devalue these links? My preference is to organically grow our presence through becoming a valuable contributor and have alsways strongly advocated this, however Ebuzzing or other simillar services sound too good to be true! Are they? Hope you can help me, and look forward to your thoughts. Many thanks Gary
