Does it help to have more than one backlink from the same website?

I have received two follow links from a website with a domain authority of 64 because I contributed to 2 blog posts. Will it help my site to get more back links from this same website or should I focus my efforts elsewhere?

If the website is great then there is no problem!
You get 2 backlinks from CNN, now if you have a choice to get one more... will you reject it?
Other than the fact that link helps in getting better rankings... links also drive referral traffic to your website which can also convert in to leads and sales....so if the website is good and can drive traffic... then I would say go for it!

I'd listen to the first line from Francisco, but disagree about Squidoo. You can get quality traffic from a quality written squidoo article.
Two links from the same website most likely will not hurt you and should help. Make sure you are getting authorship credit for those two blog posts. I think it's pretty obvious that you don't want all your links to come from the same website, but 2-3 is okay. It says to the search engines, "This site is good enough to receive multiple links on different pages within this high domain site."

Think about it like this. If you got 2 links from CNN, wouldn't you want more?
Don't get backlinks from bad websites even if they have a high page rank. Squidoo is an example of this.

We do backlinking for clients. And for this we also create a backlink page for linkingpartners (afcorse not all link have a backlink). For easy maintaince it would be handy if we can create a page on our server that is embed on the website of our clients. Is it possible to do this so there is no negative SEO? Backlinks from non-relevant site
There's a forum I used to participate in that allows you to include a link to your website in your signature block. I have over 500 posts in the forum so that provides a lot of backlinks to my website. However, I recently decided to remove my website link from my signature for two reasons: The forum is 95-99% dead. Hardly anyone uses it anymore. BTW, the website that houses the forum is still popular within is niche (articles, etc). Just the forum appears to be dead. The website and its forum really have no connection whatsoever to my business. I'm in a completely different niche. However, I have no idea if I've made the right decision. Will removing my signature and the backlinks hurt my site? Or will it help it since the other site really isn't related to mine? Thanks for any thoughts on this!

The Race for Backlinks
I see that this question hasn't been addressed in 2013 and while reviewing my SEOMoz stats, my competition continues to beat me up in the backlink department. I'm wondering if anyone has advice as to how to build those backlinks without Penguin penalty. I want to do it right and I think that's why I can't win this race against my competitors who I see have backlinks on all sorts of sites that are not related to our business. Thanks in advance for the advice!

Can a sitewide backlink with exact anchor text penalize my website?
A few years ago, I exchanged a link with another website. In the meantime, this other website grew quite fast and now they just added a forum. The backlink from their website is sitewide and is using the anchor text "best web hosting". According to Google, this backlink now appears on 117,000 pages of the same domain. Yesterday, I just got a warning from Google: "We've detected that some of your site's pages may be using techniques that are outside Google's Webmaster Guidelines..." Could that sitewide link be one of the causes? Of course I know there are tons of bad links to my site but I'm wondering if I should get this one removed.
