Image carousel
-
I have a site with a large image carousel on the top of the homepage. it rotates about 5 images. Most of the images have copy on the left and the image on the right. Right now the designer has kept it one large image. If convert the copy to HTML and keep only the image on the right the actual image. This copy on the left will now get crawled? Is there any downside to this? I am thinking this is a better option than keeping it one large image.

Thanks for the help

Ahh I am slow. I understand now. What you are proposing sounds perfect. No down sides.

What I am trying to do is make sure the copy in the image is pulled out and turned into HTML copy. I don't want it all one large image so that it can be crawled. I only want to keep the parts that need to be an image the image and any copy in the carousel readable.

Hey Mark,
If I understand you, you are just swapping images out and rotating them through?
If so that sounds like you are on the right track. If you use SEOMOZ's on page analysis tool for keywords you can see the alt tags coming up if you are using them to target keywords plus if you are adding captions to the text, you've now got added content.
Images can be a great way to get added traffic coming to your site too. When you are naming your images make sure you use hyphens to separate words. word-word-word.jpg etc..

Can I put the company name in the image alt text instead of just the service type im trying to rank for?
Hello, if I am trying to rank for a service type and the exact phrase is in the companies name, can I put the company name in the image alt text instead of just the service type? Seizing the opportunity to get another mention of the businesses name...two birds with the one stone if you will... For example, "lawn cutting" being the service type but the company's name is Paul's lawn cutting. Could i put Pauls Lawn Cutting in the image alt text, or just stick to lawn cutting? Thanks in advance

How to deal with hundreds of externally-generated images with no alt text?
Hi all This is a good one. I work for a webdev company who has clients in the transport industry. Part of our work on their sites involves pulling in transport-related offers from a feed. This includes both text and images, which our site template turns into viewable pages. The problem is that Moz has flagged that these images don't come with alt text, and there are _hundreds and hundreds of them. _I can't add alt text to them all, there just isn't the time or resources. Besides, the list is updated frequently, and new images are pulled in. So... what do? Would it be prudent to noindex them all by default setting? I'm stuck! Many thanks,

Alt image tags not being read by on-page optimization tool
Can bots see the keyword among other words in aIt image tags? For example, if the keyword is upholstery leather and the image tag says "our upholstery leather collection" will the keyword be recognized? Another example is buy leather. I have a image tag on a slide that reads "free samples before you buy leather" but an on-page analysis in moz does not show an alt tag title for buy leather? Same problem with an moz on-page analysis of the term upholstery leather. Thanks! Hunter

What should I put in the image ALT and title text for blogger?
Hello, I wanted to know what should I put in the image ALT and title text for blogger. I've read so many damn articles about ALT text and Title text for blogger; nothing explained what I put in it though. What am I supposed to put in it that will help me with my on page optimization? (Stuff like do I use spaces or dashes, do I put my keyword in there, how many characters should I not exceed, do I put one word or two words?) If I have a picture of a backpack, what should the alt text be? What if I have 10 different pictures of backpacks on 1 page? How about if I had a backpack next to a tv in an image? A specific answer or a detailed one is nice!
