Hey guys!
Is there any way to edit a business listing, for the first time, on local.com without paying Yext?!
-
Yes, I don't like Yext. I sure don't want somebody else in charge of my listings. I've used them on a couple of clients early on and really saw no benefit. I feel like they are absorbing all these local directories and eventually we may have no choice but to use them
-
Thanks, Bryan!
We seem to share the same opinion of Yext and their services. Super disappointing when I see that local.com is falling under this blanket.
Also, localeze no longer offers free business listings. Luckily, our client was already listed so I was able to claim it and make the "one change a year" to the listing. As a result I have substituted expressupdate for localeze.
Again, thanks for the responses!

Yes Amber, I agree! it seems as if they have a monopoly on a bunch of listings. However, there are three directory aggregating sites that I would highly recommend getting your site listed on: **Acxicom, Infogroup, and Localez. **These three sites aggregate many of the sites from that annoying Yext index (Find the site on Yext, try to fix it ,end back on Yext.. . O.o).
Your title says "Local Coordinator" if the intension is to rank locally, look for local citations from local sites for local you can use whitesparc.ca, and for some national getlisted.org and Google ("Keyword" + Directory or "Keyword" + "Location" Directory). Lastly, how many, and our company feel about Yext <--- Overpriced! IMO spammy, they took over my Email, once you sign up you will get an email from every directory on the Yext SERP. Now we create a directories email account for each client.
Keep in mind all your information must be accurate, we like to use the exact NAP (Name Address and Phone#) that is in the places account for each of the directories. We also make sure to fill out each listing as much as possible, and we only submit to relevant categories.
Lastly,
When submitting to directories you should use some caution, some of the sites can be of low quality or have unnatural profiles. In this case it's better to not be listed. Using open site explorer can help you determine anchor texts and low quality links of the sites you are planning on submitting to.
Hope this helps and if you have any more questions about local search, I would be glad to help.

Thanks, Bryan!
Looks like I will have to call customer support. Every route I take to claim or "enhance" the listing redirects me to Yext.
Appreciate the feedback, though.

First find the listing if it exists then
look for this...
OWN THIS BUSINESS?
"Sign in to update your listing" <------ Click on that for the listing that is incorrect. Then sign in and fix the listing.
oh and if you did not set up the original and do not have the login info
perhaps a phone call will help resolve the inconsistant listing.
Still having trouble logging in?
Call a representative at (888) 857-6722 or Email us at customersupport@local.com
Hope this helps

Local SEO: Ste vs. Suite vs. #
Hi, I used the spelled out "Suite" in my local NAP, but sometimes it's been shortened to Ste by citation websites. I'm trying to remain consistent here Should I use Ste H, Suite H, or #H? This is a good article on it: http://localsearchforum.catalystemarketing.com/google-local-citations/1605-suite-vs-ste-vs-your-citation-addresses-2.html but I'd still like your opinion.

Local SEO: Google Places and Google+
Hello, I'm a little confused by Google+ for business. I set up a Google Places page in 2010 and recently changed my address to incorporate my suite number and to spell out "Street" instead of abbreviating. I'm planning on carefully changing all citations to match. Next I started a Google+ page for my business. But I couldn't fill out the address and ended up requesting a postcard for verification to continue. The postcard was sent to the right address but no suite number. I'll still get the postcard, but I can't finish my page yet. Also, I don't know if I have to re-verify my Places page with the slight changes. Am I on the right track?

How likely it is to rank both locally and organically
I think the question summarizes it pretty well. Did anybody experienced this, to rank for one or multiple keywords in both local and organic search results?

Local Listings
I use getlisted.org as my local listing guideline. For some of the local listings you can "upgrade" the listing for a price instead of doing just the basic free listing. I was wondering do people pay for the listing and is it worth it? Are some of them better than others to get an upgraded listing? Thanks for the help!

Local SEO Help!
At the minute 12 out of my 16 clients are Local SEO clients. I'm new to SEO Moz and still only at the low level subscription which gives me 5 campaigns. It seems to me (and I may be wrong) that SEO Moz is more suited for my clients that want to rank nationally. SEO Moz seems like it might be a little overkill for using up a campaign for local seo. I'm going to stay with SEO Moz as it is great for the few clients I have that want to rank nationally. So my question is does anyone know of a similar company to SEO Moz that focuses soley on local seo? Does anyone have experience with Bright Local? How about shedding some light on what reporting software is good for LOCAL SEO? http://www.brightlocal.com/seo-tools/ Thanks

Google Places Local Submission
Hello We're going to upload a bulklisting to Google Places for multiple locations. However, there are existing Google places listings for these locations. The bulklisting is being used to undertake a refresh of all the existing data. How do we go about updating the existing data i.e. do we have to delete the existing information prior to submitting the bulkload, or does a new submission over write the existing data. In addition, how does Google Places verify a bulkload submission i.e. do they make contact with the designated business owner. How long does such a process actually take (roughly!). I know some of this is touched on in the Goolge Places help section, but it is not clear and I don't want to get this wrong for obvious reasons. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Rgds Neil

How far away does your Google Local Listing Show up - and how to improve.
How does google decide if a listing from one city shows up in another? When I do a search for a lawyer in my city my competition from another town shows up - but I don't show up when I search their town. Only 3 listings show up for both searches - so it's not necessarily a rank thing. Any ideas on improving the distance your listings show up for? Thanks!

I have been trying to gain some position in our local O-pack results and have used whitespark to hunt for citations and aquire as many as possible, but even after 4-5 months google has still not detected many of the citations we have added. What are you favourite citation sources? which ones really help? i.e. what are some quality canadian citation sources?
