Social Media Presence For Medical Equipment Providers
-
Selling medical equipment to everyone from hospitals, nursing homes, & dealers to selling medical equipment to every individual that doesn't have insurance (at great prices) is what we do.
I've had success with some social media but I want to know where you think the biggest social media value is at specifically for a company & website like ours. (www.Ocelco.com).
Thanks!

Hmm, well Slideshare, Scribd and Pinterest are the best for direct / leads and sales. LinkedIn can be a lead generator if you join some groups and watch the discussions. Facebook is a brand awareness tool and hardly anything else.
-
Facebook does great with brand awareness and Twitter has been doing good directing leads & sales with coupon codes I've been putting out on it.
It seems like Facebook doesn't generate any sales and very few visitors at that, but a lot more people see our name on it compared to Twitter. And the views from Facebook should still be target market views.

That's not a good way to define a goal. Your goal needs to specific, time-bound, achievable and measurable. You need to define your goal before picking a channel or else it's easy to get lost.
-
All of the above.

Just thinking out loud here but linkedin would be an obvious choice for the more b2b market contacts. Twitter to connect with journalists and industry news type contacts. Perhaps youtube or similar if you are thinking about how to or demonstration videos and such which might be a way to target individual consumers.

If it's B2C Facebook would probably be a good bet. Though, something tells me people will want to keep their medical lives private. Are you sure you want to be on social media at all. What's your goal? Direct leads / sales? Brand awareness?

Is it possible to get high page ranking with no social media activity?
I'm curious to know how much social media effects the chances of being more highly ranked on Google. I appreciate it's important to 'be seen' by Google, but if articles/newsletters are being written, does it really matter if a business isn't using Twitter or Facebook, etc?

Images on Social Media - Can they be Optimized?
My company has been sharing images on its Facebook and twitter outlets which are getting a lot of shares. It seems to be the only thing really working for us. Is there a way to optimize this or use it to our advantage for our website? Or is this just something that will help me gain some edge rank in Facebook?

"Mister Wong" DoFollow Social Bookmarking Backlinks
Has anyone had any experience with the DoFollow social bookmarking tool "Mister Wong". Is it worth the fee for DoFollow links? Is this site subject to Google Panda penalties or others for essentially selling dofollow links? Is social bookmarking as a whole worth the time and effort? Does anyone have any alternative sites or strategies for acquiring a high volume of dofollow backlinks?

Identifying Social Activity of Competition in Open Site Explorer.
Analysing the competition in Open Site Explorer, as you all know the results come back with the following detail: Facebook Shares Facebook Likes Tweets Google +1 There is no link through to the pages that have liked, followed or tweeted the URL. I want to understand what the competition is doing in moire detail. How are these numbers actually defined? Is their any way (or whats the best way) to identify the individual pages that the numbers refer to? Thanks in advance. Justin

SEO w/o Social Webinair experiment - how can RTs of a URL of a google search possibly affect the position of one of the search results?
I missed the webinair but have just been going through the slides. Looking forward to watching the video when its up. I have a question however regarding the experiment conducted by Rand to find out: Is Social Influencing Primary Algorithms (slides 7 - 20) The suggestion is that an RT of a google search URL affects the ranking of one individual ranking site. The +1 side of the experiment I understand completely - it is clear how Google can see that there is a social preference for the site and reward accordingly. But how would retweeting the search result URL possibly affect its rankings? Is the suggestion that those doing the experiment also clicked on the relevant link? And if so, how is Google discerning that this additional traffic is down to Twitter? I feel I am missing something incredibly obvious. Anyone want to help me out here?... otherwise I'm not going to sleep tonight...
