Continued Lack of Google Indexing
-
I run a baseball site (http://www.mopupduty.com) that is in a very good link neighbourhood. ESPN, The Score, USA Today, MSG Network, The Toronto Star, Baseball Prospectucs, etc etc.
New content has not been getting indexed on Google ever since the last update. Site has no dup content, 100% original. I can't think of any spammy links, we get organic links day after day. In the past Google has indexed the site in minutes. It currently has expanded site links within Google search.
Bing & Yahoo index the site in minutes.
Are there any quick fixes I can make to increase my chance to get indexed by Google. Or just keep pumping out content and hope to see a change in the upcoming future?
-
I'm not sure how to remove answered.
I came across this link to my site via google:
Is this auto generated by my wordpress blog? I assume it is just a regular link, letting me know the source is Day Life.
I also ran my article text through Copyscape and came up with 10 different matches
-
Yes we do.
We get numerous retweets from regular readers + team specific twitter feed aggregators.
-
Have you tried seeding your new content through social media to see if that helps? (As soon as the new article is released post it to your Facebook and Twitter accounts, along with getting a few RT's / likes)...
-
if you're on WP, then I definitely recommend the Google XML Sitemaps plug-in. Does all the heavy lifting for you.
-
Another good idea. Thanks again
-
Thanks.
I was thinking about getting a wordpress plugin for the sitemap. It hasn't been an issue in the past but then again things are different now.
Meta trick is new, I'll give that a shot.
-
Regarding the source ownership factor, I'd also recommend using the Google Source Attribution tag on all your articles.
-
Your sitemap.xml file has three entries. I recommend automating the URL generation in it to include new content as it's posted, with lastmod set to the date/time of posting. I'd then get that file pinged out to Google at least once a day if you've got new content every day, or even each time a new article is written.
I'd also put a date/time stamp tag in the header using the HTML standard meta tag format for dates
That isn't guaranteed to help, however it has helped some sites I've worked on in the past.

Sorry, I can't seem to edit. I should add that the syndication/image situation has been the same for the past two years.
Links structure is very very good.
For example, whenever the site updates a small syndication is updated on Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/tor/blogs)
-
Good news!
-
I can see where you're going, so I'll say:
Our content is written 100% by our writers. Our content is syndicated everywhere (USA Today, MSG, Yahoo Sports!, etc). Could the samples sentences be an issue?
Image licensing is handled by my sports network (The Score is cable TV channel in Canada).
Everything is on the up and up on the site. Anyone else
-
If I take random sentences from the site I see those same sentences word-by-word on other websites. Are these your original content?
Do you own or have a license to display the great images that I see in many of the articles. There are no attributions.
These may not be the cause of your lack of Google indexing, but they could be and they could also be a larger problem.

Google search console image indexing issue
Google search console tells that only '58 out of the 3553' images in the images sitemap are indexed. But if I search "site:example.com" in Google images there seem to be lots of images. There are no errors in the sitemap and I am still getting reasonable number of image search hits daily. Are the webmaster tools stats for images indexed accurate? When I click on the Sitemap Errors & Index Errors this is what i get - Error details: No errors found. https://www.screencast.com/t/pqL62pIc

Top Landing Page has disappeared from Google Search Console but still shows at the top of Google
Hi, One of the top landing pages in my website has disappeared from GSC Search Analytics results. But I do get a good traffic from that page until now. What might be the reason for GSC to stop showing it on the results?

Does hidden text, which appears for an onclick event, get indexed by Google and what SEO impact does this have?
I'm trying to simplify a conversion process with an onclick event to show text rather than having a completely separate page, but wondering if this is going to negatively impact on SEO, especially considering it's hidden text. I've seen a couple of things out there where you could position the text off the screen and the onclick results in it coming on.

Google description problem
Hi all, My website is www.ipbskinning.com I'm having a problem with how my site is appearing in google. I have this in the head of my website: <meta name='<a class="attribute-value">description</a>' content='<a class="attribute-value">Free and Custom IPB Skins for Invision Power Board.</a>'/> Yet when I google 'ipbskinning' it says: Solid Skins. 1We test all our skins in all browsers to insure that they are compatible. This ensures that your users have the best user experience. which is random text from the content of my site. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks a lot all

Sitemap coming up in Google's index?
I apologize if this question's answer is glaringly obvious, but I was using Google to view all the pages it has indexed of our site--by searching for our company and then clicking the link that says to display more results for the site. On page three, it has the sitemap indexed as if it wee just another page of our site. <cite>www.stadriemblems.com/sitemap.xml</cite> Is this supposed to happen?

Google indexing thousands crazy search results with %25253
In GWT I started seeing very strange pages indexed a few weeks, and Google is no reporting over 21,000 of pages (blocked by robots.txt) with weird URLs like this: http://www.francesphotography.com/?s=no-results:no-results%25252525252525253Ano-results%2525252525252525253Ano-results%252525252525252525253Ano-results%252525252525252525253Ano-results%252525252525252525253Ano-results%252525252525252525253Ano-results%25252525252525252525253Ano-results%25252525252525252525253Ano-results%2525252525252525252525253Adanna&cat=no-results http://www.francesphotography.com/?s=no-results:no-results%2525253Ano-results%25252525253Ano-results%25252525253Ano-results%25252525253Ano-results%2525252525253Ano-results%25252525252525253Ano-results%25252525252525253Ano-results%25252525252525253Adanna&cat=no-results The current robots.txt looks like this: User-agent: *

Disallow: /wp-content Disallow: /wp-admin Disallow: /wp-includes
Disallow: /data
Disallow: /slideshows
Disallow: /page/*/?s=
Disallow: /?s=
Disallow: /search This website is running an up to date WP install with Yoast's Google Analytics and SEO plug-in. I can't point to anything specific that happened with the site when these URLs started appearing even after I modified the robots.txt. What can be done to try and stop Google from creating and indexing these goofy URLs? I see lots of sites having this issue when I search in Google, but no one seems to have a solution.0 -
Google is indexing proxy (mirror) site.
We moved the site to a new hosting. Previously the site used Godaddy Windows Hosting with white domain masking. After moving the site we just mirrored the site. We have to use mirrored domain for PPC campaigns because it mirrored site contains true BRAND name and there is better conversion with that domain plus all trade marked keywords are approved for mirrored domain. Robots.txt User-agent: * Host: www.hermitagejewelers.com Disallow: /Bin Disallow: /css www.hermitagejewelers.com is the main domain. Mirror site is www.ermitagejewelers.com (Without the "H" at the beginning) Most of the keywords are now picked up by mirror site. I have not noticed any major changes in ranking except that it ranks for mirror site. We updated the sitemap. Website is designed very poorly (not by us). Also, we submitted the change address request for ermitagejewelers to hermitagejewelers in webmasters. Please let me know any advice to fix that problem. Thank you.

De-indexing thin content & Panda--any advantage to immediate de-indexing?
We added the nonidex, follow tag to our site about a week ago on several hundred URLs, and they are still in Google's index. I know de-indexing takes time, but I am wondering if having those URLs in the index will continue to "pandalize" the site. Would it be better to use the URL removal request? Or, should we just wait for the noindex tags to remove the URLs from the index?
