Title Tag
-
Is there any value in adding semantically similar words in the title tag? For instance, I have an alcohol rehab website www.alcohol-rehab.ltd.uk, I offer local search pages too.
Would the title tag "Alcohol Rehab Bedfordshire | Alcoholic Rehabilitation Clinics Beds" Be more valuable than "Alcohol Rehab Clinics Bedfordshire | www.alcohol-rehab.ltd.uk"
And is is worth while having the url in each title tag?
Also is it worth while (seo wise) writing a description tag for each page, other than for a call to action that is?

Hi Tiedoctor,
Yes, here you mentioned two title Tag's
1) Alcohol Rehab Bedfordshire | Alcoholic Rehabilitation Clinics Beds
2) Alcohol Rehab Clinics Bedfordshire | www.alcohol-rehab.ltd.uk
According to your business "Alcohol Rehab" is the targeted keyword rite.
According to search engine rules if you a domain having the targeted or mostly likely keyword as a domain name then search engines will give you the preference to that domain.
And i did little bit change to your Title here.
In these two titles " 1 " (Alcoholic Rehabilitation Clinics Beds | Alcohol-Rehab-UK Bedfordshire) the best option, "Alcohol Rehab" it acts as a user search query and targeted keyword for your domain as well as your Brand isn't it.
And you fired this "And is is worth while having the url in each title tag?"
Answer is : "No need".
Because any way your title (" 1 ") is having both your business brand name and keyword.
And SEO wise:
I took a tour on your website it is having a good description and keywords you can add more too also, title you can keep " 1 " (Your wish).
And under the Articles tab, you have a good Articles with a quality content, but all these articles are lacking "Title","Description","Keywords". If you add all these things, more weight it will get.
And when ever a new page or article got added to your site, try to submit sitemap immediately.
Thank you....

Thanks John. Any ideas on the semantically similar words?

Title tag is very important, and should reflect the content of what is in your page.
I would always make these as descriptive as possible and try to add the main key phrase as near as possible to the front of the tag.
I would never ever add a URL to the title tag, you are trying I assume to rank for a phrase as opposed to getting a URL ranked of you see what I mean, so no, I would not advice adding a URL to the title tag as it is taking up space ... Of course if the word Alcohol Rehab are important to your ranking by all means use a descriptive tag containing those words in your title tag.
Yes, add meta tag description to all pages, and try and make them as descriptive as possible they wont help in ranking a phrase, but if your results show up in the SERP for a phrase, a good description can help potential visitors to your site gain some more information.
A lot of snippets under your URL in the SERP contain your description TAG, and well you want to insure your showcase and inform about your page.
Hope that helps
Regards
John

Title Tag Change - Drop in Organic Placement?
I've been working on increasing CTR my changing the title tag & meta descriptions. Has anyone ever noticed a drop in organic SERPS from doing so? Even if CTR goes up? It seems to me that if the CTR goes up and user experience in that way is improved these changes should yield an increase in the average position. Would you agree? Thank you!!

Product Tags
So Opencart allows the use of product tags (please note, this are NOT meta tags) which I believe are used for when customers want to search for a product using the search function. So one of my tags could be ''star wars socks'', and when a customer types this into the search it brings up every product containing the tag for socks. This is all good and well, however, these tags appear on the product page itself, right below the Manufacturer/Brand, and above the price. Will Google look kindly on this or could it be considered as keyword stuffing? Or will Google know they're for search and ignore them? I just need to know whether or not removing them entirely will be a good or bad idea.

To Many Links & Long Titles
One of our clients currently has a number of pages that "Too many on page links", Now her menu in itself has the majority. With it being an eComerce website it has quite a few categories. How harmfull is this to search rankings. The other side of thing's, Currently the client has a large number of pages where the title of the page is the product, However her products for example could be "The pink fluffy bear 2x4 with extendable arm and voice activation ( batteries not included )" Again, how Harmfull is having a large volume of pages named like this.

Would Changing the Titles of Root Categories Be Bad?
I have researched some more effective keywords to change my root category titles to. I am wondering if it would be a bad idea to change these titles considering all the things that could go wrong. From what i'm gathering there are a LOT of things that can go wrong but at the same time these things do need to be changed sometime! Is this a good or a bad idea & why? What could go wrong? Should I try changing the category titles one at a time instead of risking every one of my keywords / category titles not working out in the serps right away?

How long does it take to seen Title in SERP
A friend of mine asked me how long it takes before Google shows the right Title in the SERPs. He changed the title of his homepage some weeks ago but Google still shows the old Title in the rankings... I'm a Wordpress user and don't have this problem, when I change something in the title it doesn't take that long to see the changes showing up in SERPs

H1 tags the same on all pages - problem?
I generally use wordpress as a CMS and have the H1 tag coded in the header.php include file. This results as it being the same in all page - I normally do something like Keyword - Company name and set the company logo as the background and move the text off screen using text indent (CSS). Is having the same on every page a bad thing? I might be tricky to change so their all unique.
