Image Tags And Titles
-
Hi,
I am currently revamping my website with a new look. Some questions i have with regards to the images found on a page.
- I know that we need an alt tag for each image. This should not be keyword spammed. However, what about the title tag for the image?
What is the best practice for image title tags? Should it be the same as the alt tag? Should it be different? Should I leave it blank?
- If I am running a wordpress platform for my website. The defaulted settings for wordpress is that all images inside a post are clickable. When clicked, the page loads from abcdef.com/page/ to abcdef.com/page/image.jpg.
This seems to be generating alot of internal links but I don't see the value of loading an image when my visitors click on that. Should I let the image be clickable or remove the link on the image for best SEO practices?
Thanks for your advice.

That's a good rule of thumb from Brett Collins, though I typically make the alt attribute (technically it's an attribute to an image "tag" rather than a tag in and of itself, but it's just a semantics thing) descriptive of the image instead of the post - often it's the same thing either way. I know some people, myself included much of the time, who don't even use the title attribute unless it is within the href tag of a linking image. I know others who use it as the actual title of the image (e.g. funnydog.jpg would be "funny dog" and cats-are-evil.png would be "cats are evil"). I do typically make the alt and title attributes of an image two different things. I disable the creation of image attachment pages in Wordpress. When inserting individual images, ensure that the Link is set to File Url. When inserting a gallery, ensure that "Link thumbnails to" is set to Image File. You can also find plugins that will redirect the attachment pages. I typically block those in the robots.txt file too.

Generally I use the title tag to tell people what is in the pic, if it's a picture of a funny dog I call it "funny dog". The alt tag can be a bit more general and should say what the article itself is about. without necessarily using a keyword, (though it can contain the keyword). So if the article is about pet food in London, the alt tag could be "London pet food" or Great pet food London" or some variant on that.
Personally I usually don't make my images clickable.

Commas in title tags
Hello Guys, Thanks in advance for all who can help me with this I am helping a dinnerware company with their SEO. I told them to change their ambiguous title tags for more specific ones. However, they opted to create some title tags with 2 or three keywords separated by commas. I have attached an excel image illustrating their new title tags.. My question is, will this format be a problem with Google--penalties? The questionable title tags are highlighted in light orange. Thanks! lHH92

Alt and title tags on images
For SEO, are alt and title tags still worth the effort? Or have they gone the way of meta keywords? I can see having alt tags for visually impaired reasons, but at this point is there any SEO reason to use them?

Hey guys! I was looking at adding the H1 tag lower on the page than the H2 tag because I want the top bit to be a call to action. Is this proper practice?

What is the importance of image file names and H1, H2 and H3 tags
Hello, My client thinks they will get better rankings if we change the product image names to reflect the keywords for that page, is this true? I believe I just have to add "alt tags" but not sure now. Also, they think its very important to have H1, H2 and H3 tags on each page. I thought this wasn't a big factor anymore. Is it? Thanks

Strange titles showing in WMT?
On one of my wordpress sites, I have just checked it out in Google Webmaster tools and under duplicate titles it is showing spam titles which I did not add? Lamisil Buy - Buy Online on two pages of the site However these two pages are no longer online? So I have 2 quick questions please 1.) How did they add a title to these 2 pages 2.) Why is it still showing in WMT when these pages are no longer live? Also under duplicate titles it is showing pages that dont exist? i.e. ?yonidza=orde and some of which such as weddings.html are pages from the old site structure that no longer exist - how can I reduce these errors down?

Duplicate Page Titles and Keywords
Still new to this SEO world, so please bear with me. I have an eCommerce site so one of the issues is duplicate content and page titles. So what I was thinking was this...for each product that I sell I have 4 or 5 keywords that I have targeted. For example for personalized iPhone cases I have decided on: iphone 4 case personalized, monogrammed iphone 4 case, personalized and monogrammed iphone case, preppy phone case, personalized iPhone case, monogrammed iPhone case For each of my products I was going to a product description (ie: trendy color block diagonal stripes) and a targeted keyword. But I was going to rotate the keywords through so as to try to avoid the duplicate page title issue. Will that help? Thanks much, Shara

Duplicate Page Title Elements
Hello Mozzers. My questions is below and I would like to thank everyone in advance for any feedback 😉 I own a dog supplies site (www.k9electronics.com). When I launched the site several years back I hired a guy for SEO and he optimized my home page for specific categories search terms such as "dog training collars", "dog shock collars:, ect instead of general search terms such as "dog supplies", "dog accessories", ect. I would like to start moving these home page title element terms (starting with "dog shock collars") over to the dog training collars category but have high rankings for this term on the home page. Current Home Page Title Element:

dog training collars, dog shock collars, electric dog collar, dog supplies (recently added) Current Dog Training Collars Category Title Element:
dog training collars I was hoping to add "dog shock collars" to the dog training collars category page until I achieved higher ranking then delete if from the home page. ..or swap it out with "dog accessories". I am currently ranked #5 in Google for "dog shock collars" on the home page & dog training collars category page ...and I am a little concerned about changing these title elements. My question is; If I add 'dog shock collars" to the dog training collars category page title as well, how will it effect my ranking on both pages having this duplicate term in both page titles? Thank You,
