Rank Tracking
-
I just wanted to check with people in the know,
A Keyword I'm tracking with the Rank Tracker Research tool is showing #7 in the SEOMoz tool but when I google it myself it isn't showing up in the serps on page 1.
I'm assuming that google serps might be distirbuted with a certain "latency" for different users, I just wanted to check check with you guys.

Thanks Mike, that clarifies it.
I should have found that FAQ my self

I think it could be a lot of different things. One of them is that Google's SERPs are always going to be more up-to-date, hence the Next rankings update: XXXX in the bottom right-hand corner of the Rank Tracker tool page.
Here is some more information from SEOMoz about Rank Tracker:
"Why do the rankings returned by Rank Tracker sometimes differ from what I see when I check the search engine? Don’t worry – it’s perfectly normal. Rankings are constantly in flux and rarely universal. Some factors that may affect rankings include:
- Performing searches in different geographies (even in the same state/country)
- Hitting different IP addresses or data centers
- Having personalized search turned on (or even getting automated personalization based on search history)
Luckily, trend data is quite good, so even if the positions you see vary slightly from what Rank Tracker reports, the gains or losses are indicative of relative performance. Don’t expect to see precise correlation, but do keep an eye on ranking trends over time."
Hope this helps.

Ranking History
I realize you can click on a specific keyword and view Ranking History for approximately the most recent 12 weeks. I am wondering if you plan on offering additional options (e.g. 6 mo or 1 yr)? It would be great to show clients progress over a greater time span. I am aware of the csv download, but my clients are not interested in looking at or comprehending raw csv data. Can anyone suggest a good tutorial for transforming csv into a decent looking graph? Or, perhaps a software that is capable of doing the same - for those of us that quite simply don't have the time to crash into yet another learning curve 😉 Thanks!

Page Rank vs Page and Domain Authority - who wins?
A client has found another SEO agency promising various things to do with link building. Most of these promises are based upon links from sites with allegedly high page ranks. So my questions: Page rank seems to be fading out am I safe to stay with PA and DA metrics instead? I don't agree with link building tactics and feel that it should more a networking activity to provide USEFUL links to users... am I being too white hat and missing opporunities? The other company have promised long list of links including 100 SEO friendly web directory listings, 200 PR 8 back links from Pinterest (which i thought was no follow) & 10 long lasting and high quality mini web sites (with three pages/posts, video and pictures). Am I right that this all sounds a little spammy or is this really what I should be doing for me clients?

Keyword Rankings Report Accuracy
How many of you routinely have inaccurate data in your Moz Pro keyword rankings reports? I just checked 5 of our terms that came in this morning - yes, it's a not logged in, non-personalized, incognito, cleared cache search - and none of them actually ranked where Moz said they ranked. One was listed in the top 5 and wasn't even on the first page. One was listed at position 3 but was actually at position 8, a big difference when it comes to CTR. And the report will have stuff like our brand name not ranked at all one week, then jumping by 45+ positions the next week, then gone the next week. And it doesn't fluctuate like that. I get that the reports are general to what most people see, but should such big disparities be expected?

What works when common ranking factors fail?
I have seen in few instances where the ranking factors doesn't seem to work for competitive keywords. The websites which don't have more than one or two links rank much higher in search results. Any clue what SEOs should do in that scenario?

Results of keyword rankings way off??
I just did my first crawl, and a bunch of the keywords show my rank as being like 76 or 102 and I'm number 1 for the search when I search manually. **I of course have personal results turned off and I'm not logged into gmail when I search.

Local Rankings Drop?
G'morning! I got a disturbing report this morning that showed seven of our big keywords drop from high on the first page to not in the top 50. After further research I have found that we are now in Google's local cluster, but no longer on the traditional organic results. My question is this, has Google changed something that doesn't allow results in the local cluster AND in the traditional organic listings? I'm assuming that this is the case because we're doing smart SEO and have built these rankings up nicely over time, but then just fell off the face of the earth. I have attached a snapshot of Moz's Ranking History for a few of the keywords, as I assume this will help explain the story. (We're in green). Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks! euxQb kwAqh pUxkC

Does linking to relevant high authority websites effect your MozTrust or Rank?
Basically what the title says. I am having a hard time understanding why a compeitor with less linking domains and none of any real quality, they're all membership sites or partnerships, nothing to relevant to the industry. While we have links and articles on us from multiple magazines in our industry. As well as to relevant directories with high domain ranks. The only thing I noticed is they're linking to their clients website, which are all high authority websites. So do external links count towards your MozTrust or Rank?

Rankings Check and Googles Quality Guidelines
Hi, I am trialing SEOmoz at present. What i dont understand is how come the rankings check, which presumably involves sending requests to Google, doesnt contravine the Google quality guidelines and cause a website to be penalised. Sorry if being a bit dim - but if anybody could explain it would be really helpful cheers stayin
