SEOmoz PRO: How to manage a Site with 2 languages on the same domain - without mixing up data?
-
I want to track a "rootdomain" that has two languages on it, the english version is in a subfolder /en/
1. http://website.de
2. http://website.de/en/I want to manage and track each language-version isolated. So I will setup:
1. http://website.de as campaign DE - german
= as Root Domain
But as there are links to the /en/ Subfolder these data will also be included in all reports. And there is still no option in SEOmoz PRO to exclude folders or even urls.?! This will be bad when wanting a clear report of just one Language Version.2. http://website.de/en as campaing EN - english
To track as "Subfolder" will not work beacause this option will only consider exactly this subfolder...So is there a way to see data just only for one language Version?

Hi David,
thanks for your help, but unfortunately I can't influence this setup with a separate domain. So I will put my feature request.
Thank you

Hey Holger!
This is a great question.
One of your best options is to create separate URLs for each language as recommended by Google's documentation regarding multi-regional and multilingual sites found here:
http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=182192#1
example:
1. www.website.com (english)
2. www.website.de (german)This would be a lot of work and (potential) site restructuring so how viable this option is would be something you would need consider.
Another option is to create a subdomain for the english site (e.g. http://en.website.de). Once this is done, you can start a campaign for both website.de and en.website.de. This way you can isolate just the english version of the site.
The last option that I can think of would be to create a campaign for your main/originating domain. If the english subfolder is housed on that domain, we'll more than likely crawl it along with the rest of the site. To separate out the English and German content, you could just filter/remove it from an exported CSV report.
Regarding your suggestion for excluding folders and URLs, this would be an excellent feature request. I recommend submitting this in our feature request forum. Our Product team checks this daily and uses it to help plan out our roadmap for future releases and may add this in there.
Hope this helped clear things up and let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
David Lee

Using seomoz.
Hi, I'm scouring the web for new links, and am taking a closer look at OSE; I'm trying to gauge whether the PA & DA rating(s) in the results page for a domain search takes into account any penalty signals the site may be showing, and whether there is a 'real' way to identify how much value links from the source will give you (if for example, there's already x10 other links away from that page or x100 links away from that domain). Basically - what else needs to be taken into account when using this app to identify link sources, etc. Thanks, David

I am trying to find inbound links for one of my site urls. My question is does SEOMoz able to track all internal links as the Open Site Explorer shows 0 internal links?
It shows 0 internal links when I am pretty sure we have multiple internal links.Should we use absolute urls or relative urls for internal links?

Site Optimisation for ktichens!!
Hey Guys, I am about to begin to optimise this site www.stuartandersonkitchens.co.uk for some keywords such as edinburgh kitchens, quality kitchens edinburgh etc as he is based in edinburgh. I am also going to be doing some work behind the bones of the site optimisiing alt, meta data, micro data etc. Also I am thinking about creating a FB, Twitter, Youtube profile and possibly adding him to a few directories (DMOZ etc), some local & running a small adwords campaign using the freebie credits. I will be altering some of the content in order to have it more amicable to the engines. Is there any other advice anyone would like to give me, where I could improve in order to have him seen on the search engines. Be great to here your take on this. Thanks again, Craig

How Old is OSE link data?
I ran an anchor text report for my client today, which shows that their site has some incoming comment spam links using totally unrelated phrases (pharma products). However, when looking for the live link, the linking page no longer contains the link to them. Maybe the webmasters removed these, but I can't track down a single one... how old is this data? thanks
