Why aren't links to my site showing up in open site explorer?
-
My site is http://www.thesquarefoot.com
Google analytics shows many more (though more than a handful of links that we have gotten recently still don't show up there).
Definite newbie here so please be kind...
Thanks!

I find that all the info on the Competitive Domain reporting in SEOmoz to ber completely inaccurate, i have over 300 links to my site showing in Webmaster Tools and other software but SEOmoz is only showing 12 linking root domains and this data has not updated now for several months.
How are you supposed to provide regular accurate reports to your clients when this data is so outdated? I pay my monthly fee for up-to-date accurate data and I dont appear to be getting this....not happy

It looks like the next OSE update is on June 6th so hang in there! Sometimes it takes 30-60 days. I'm patiently waiting for links to my brand new site to show as well.
-
Is there something going on with OSE? I've been noticing a lack of links being shown that I know would normally be, with linked to, and linked from sites indexed, and plenty of time passed for updates.
-
Open site explorer (OSE) is updated once a month so there is some lag in between updates. However, I found a good chunk of links to your site on yahoo site explorer. https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=www.thesquarefoot.com&fr=sfp
Yahoo site explorer is a good resource, you just dont get as much link data as you do with OSE.
hope this helps

Opensite explorer isn't updated instantly. It also isn't all encompassing (but it's getting there!). Give it time. I use google analytics to track where my traffic is coming from as it is the best way to see who is linking to you.

Back linking to t foreign sites
One of our major competitors seems to be linking to an Asian speaking website that has a blog/product review formant. I was wondering how they are achieving this. Are there any non English /Asian sites worth submitting to and what is the best way to go about this if English is the only language you speak! And of course is it worth while doing this from an SEO perspective.

For a new site, does it matter which sites I get back links from first? I.e., are the first back links more important than later ones?
I've heard that when a site is new, the sources from which it gets its first back links are very important -- that the early links are more important for ranking than later links. Is this true. If so, what would be some good places to get these very first links? Thanks.

Backlinks I don't want
Hi all. According to google webmaster tools www.buywatchesin.net made 29,245 links to ONE category to my website. I went to this site and they copied my article with my links without my permission. Its the same one on all sites in that domain. Thats a lot of links and I thinks that bad for my site. I can't find any contact details to that site. What do you think, any advise?? Please help!

Any benefit to others' links in my blog comments?
I recently started a blog for my client. So far the response has been decent but, as should probably be expected, most of the commenters want to put a link to their own site in the comment. Do I have anything to gain by allowing these comments to stay on the page?

Links per Site vs. Domain Authority
Here's a quaint one: 1. Posting follow links on another site helps increase one's domain authority. 2. If I post to the same site/forum with followed links each week, would my domain authority reap a domain authority increase benefit? In short, is there any domain authority benefit to continually post links to a site to which I've already posted a follow link?
