Long Exact Match Domain, or short "Brand" domain?

I've searched and found a lot of discussion regarding the benefits of using Exact Match Domains, however I'm still unsure of what is a "too long" domain to make it not user friendly.
I'm working on a new web application that help users design their own <product>. </product>
Let's say that the product would be canvas paintings as an example. Would you choose the domain www.designcanvaspaintings.com if it was available? Or would you rather create a "brand" like paintify.com that is shorter and has a more "brand" feeling to it.

Google can preach all they like about lessening the weight of EMDs but fact is they still have massive prominence. As long as it's not too long, I'd go for the EMD.

I'd go brand name every time.
EMDs still give you some advantage out of the blocks, but if you are trying to build a business then brandable is better. You want referrals, repeat business, inherit trust and to stick in people's mind. It's hard to do that with a mushy EMD that sounds a lot like everyone else's.
If you need convincing here is a book that you should read : Zag by Marty Neumeier. It's cheap, short and very good
He talks about the importance of developing a brand that stands out. Well worth the few hours it takes to read. -

I did mention "but not always". You have to be careful

Design Canvas Paintings - Does that sound like a brand name or spammy? hard to judge, we are not Google

So if I understand it correctly, it seems like they decreased the value of the EMD in the September update. This does not mean that the value of EMD's are low or "= not good" as you put it.
So yes, Google has decreased the value of EMD's. But is it still a big benefit to use a domain name that has a Exact Match to what your business is about? And does this benefit outweight the added user experience of having a shorter domain?

Switch to naked domain that has higher page authority
Brilliant Moz community! I just started here and find it so helpful and am confident that I can get an answer to this. Our domain is currently https://www.example.com. I have been wanting to move to https://example.com just for a cleaner URL. To my surprise, https://example.com has the same DA but a significantly higher page authority than our current https://www.example.com. Of course my immediate reaction is to 301 to the https://example.com but I wanted to get some advice and anything we should consider before doing this. My other question would be - how is this possible? I don't remember that we ever used that domain but we also had some rather bad developers a couple of years back. Thank you so much in advance!

Spammy brand mentions
Hi guys, Recently I started to receive via Google Alerts a lot of brand mentions on obviously spammy pages/websites like this http://www.iconshut.com/business-cards-every-matrix-has-recently-gone-through-a-rebranding--icons/ Where Every Matrix (EveryMatrix) is our brand name. It have first noticed it a few weeks ago but I started to receive this kind of alerts almost daily. There are no links pointing back to our website so I can not disavow them at least. Since it could be a negative SEO attempt, my feelings are that this kind of mentions (https://moz.com/blog/panda-patent-brand-mentions) will hurt on the long run and I'm concerned that I can not control it or at least I don't know how to do it. What is you take on this? What can we do?

Is it OK to choose a Domain Name with Brand-name followed by keyword? Part 2
Last month I have posted a question about choosing the right domain name for a website which is currently popular in india, which also needs to be popular in USA. Considering Switch to old Domain - Any Bad Karma?
So here is the issue. I am working with a company that used to have a branded domain. Then they split the domain into two separate keyword rich domains and tried to change branding to match the keyword rich domains. This made for a really long brand name that is difficult to actually rank for as it is mostly hi traffic key terms and also created brand confusion because all of the social accounts still operate under the old brand name. We are considering a new brand initiative and going back to the original brand name as it better meets our business objectives (they still get traffic from branded searches under the old brand) and the old branded web domain. My question is if there is any added risk in going back to an old domain that has been forwarded for the past 2 years to the new domain? I know the risks and problems of a domain name change, but I am not as certain about the added complication of moving back to an old domain and essentially reversing the flow of 301's. Any thoughts? Is this the current recommendation for hyphen(s) in domain name?
Let's say your customers company name in the real world is "Foo Bar Baz Inc." and if it is read (and understood) as "foobarbaz inc." by someone hearing the name it does also make semantically sense (like "Dog Food Market"). Customer owns a lot of domain combinations, but notably foobarbaz.com foo-bar-baz.com Would you recommend to dedicate "foobarbaz.com" as main brand and domain for all SEO efforts and do the proper redirects from the other domains? Or would you do it the other way around, redirecting to the foo-bar-baz.com domain? Thanks!

Changing a "city" or "town" location in google maps
Hello Mozinators! I have a client I currently work with doing SEO that has a rare problem that I have not come across before nor have I been able to find any information on how to make changes for it. The problem being that the city/township is more of a community that has yet to officially be labeled as a city, yet is still marked as a town on google maps. This is a great step in the right direction however the google maps location is over the wrong place. I have attached screenshots of the google maps for this location. In the top is a place called "Lakewood Ranch" and it is not in the correct spot. Lakewood Ranch should instead be in the bottom corner of the overview screenshot, where the town center is and the medical center off of the "University PKWY" exit. I have absolutely no idea on where to start to get these changes put in place, nor if they can even be put in place. Please let me know! Thank you so much in advance! a86TM.png u1ipV.png
