Is it impossible to get out of Panda? Matt Cutts says if you fix the problem you "pop back" but if so why are their so few examples?
-
In this video matt cutts says: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IzUuhTyvJk about 15
"once we re-run our data (every few weeks) if we determine your site is of higher quality you would pop back out of being affected"
Panda has effected thousands of sites and a lot of smart people have been working on the problem for about 2 years since the first panda was launched, but I can only find 1 site that has "popped back" to their original rankings. e.g. http://searchengineland.com/google-panda-two-years-later-losers-still-losing-one-real-recovery-149491
Apart from Motortrend.com I can't find any sites (of reasonable size) / case studies of sites that have solved the panda problem, and were definitely hit by panda. Which doesn't feel right, some people have deleted a ton of pages, redesigned their site, improved their content, etc with no success. Therefore is it a pointless exercise? Therefore, is it better to simply give up and start a new site?

Yeah, I noticed the graph was cut pretty short after they gained traffic back. They must have forgotten to knock on wood before they posted about their recovery.

Hi Chris,
Daniweb did recovery for a short period, but then lost their traffic again, there is more here: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/webmasters/HiGVM9h2ioE%5B1-25-false%5D
I know google is planning to soften panda, and about time too.
thanks,
julian.

Julian,
There are a few more listed here on screamingfrog's blog and daniweb said they recovered. Seerinteractive also wrote about a client they helped to recover. But you're right, there are very few examples of big sites who have recovered.

Hi Jason,
Yes I've heard a lot more stories like that too. Which is how it should be, you fix the problem and google then gives you your rankings, traffic and revenue back. But with Panda it doesn't seem to work that way, even though Matt Cutts says it does, which is frustrating, annoying and unfair.
The lack of response to this question seems to confirm my fear that its impossible to get out of panda.
Julian.

I have not seen it with Panda but I have seen it with Penguin. We removed the bad links and the site popped back up with 2-3 days. It was actually a couple of spammy link edu pyramid pointed at the website with exact match anchor text all the way up. We removed the few links that were actually pointing to the site and problem solved. Very Strange...
Wish I could be more helpful with Panda... We have never had any issues there.

Changing a product page from "example.com" to "example.com/keyword" affect SEO and Ranking?
We're in a situation to move the page from "example.com" to "example.com/keyword". And adding new content to the "example.com" page. Does this change affect our ranking? If so how can we overcome this problem? Can anyone help?

Rel="canonical" Wordpress 2015 Best Practice
There are forum posts about how to insert rel="canonical" tags in Wordpress, but I've read about lots of changes in this space recently (updates to Yoast, for example). I'm having a problem with duplicate content on one of my sites, and it seems to be coming from multiple indexes of the same pages. I'll have a blog post show up under the posts, then the archives, then the tags. So, my question is, in early 2015, what are the current best practices for adding rel="canonical" tags in Wordpress? Thanks! Tim

Ranking for "synonym" terms on separate pages?
(My title says "synonym" but it's not exactly the most accurate word, but works best for the title_) I have a site that ranks #1 for a term, and let’s pretend it’s “cheap phone”. It’s also ranks #1 for “cheap phone service” and #3 for “cheap phone plans”. These are all the home page with those rankings I have a sub page whose natural title would be “Cheap Phone Plans” or “Cheap Phone Service”. I have it named something these and it is not optimized for either of these terms because I think it would be best to not mess with the good rankings I have already for those two terms So here’s my question: what would likely be the outcome if I optimized that subpage for “Cheap Phone Plans” or “Cheap Phone Service”? If Google began to direct searchers of this term to my subpage rather than my home page, would my home page lose some of it’s ranking with it’s main and most popular keyword, “cheap phone? Thanks!

Problem with meta title
My web is http://www.canexel.es, is supported by wordpress and I'm having some problems with the meta title. Google SERPS shows “Canexel: Casas de madera canadienses“ when I config the snipped to show “Casas de Madera canadienses – Canexel” I use SEO yoast plugin. I dont know why it is showing the name of the company followed by a colon at the beginning. The home page is the only one that is having that problem. Thx!

How do I get rid of crawl errors?
I recently revamped all my category pages to make them Google friendly. I did a lot of keyword research and ended up deleting categories and renaming categories. Now Google Webmasters is showing a ton of 404 errors. How can I get rid of them? Do I have to remove the URL one by one with Google Webmasters? Is it something that won't hurt my rankings and will go away in time?
