Mass Duplicate Content
-
Hi guys
Now that the full crawl is complete I've found the following:
http://www.trespass.co.uk/mens-onslow-02022
http://www.trespass.co.uk/mens-moora-01816
http://www.trespass.co.uk/site/writeReview?ProductID=1816
http://www.trespass.co.uk/site/writeReview?ProductID=2022
The first 2 duplicate content is easily fixed by writing better product descriptions for each product (a lot of hours needed) but still an easy fix.
The last 2 are review pages for each product which are all the same except for the main h1 text. My thinking is to add no index and no follow to all of these review pages? The site will be changing to magento very soon and theres still a lot of work to do.
If anyone has any other suggestions or can spot any other issues, its appreciated.
Kind regards
Robert

Hi Raphael
If you look in the code youll see this is actually the
tag and not image. Not sure why it does that. Ive had similar issue before with wordpress themes appearing to show headre tags as images when you right click.
-
For the review submission page, I'd include some extra meta tag elements like:
This to tell Google not to index this page, not follow links on this page and to force using your meta description in the search engine result instead of a Open Directory Network description.
-
On each review page there are images of "Review [Product name]". What I can suggest you is to exchange this images to text or just add Alt tag, that's how it won't be the same.

Will I have duplicate content on my own website?
Hello Moz community, We are an agency providing services to various industries, and among them the hair salon industry. On our website, we have our different service pages in the main menu, as usual. These service pages are general information and apply to any industry. We also have a page on the website that is only intended for the hair salon industry. On this page, we would like to link new service pages: they will be the same services as our “general” services, but specialized for hair salons. My questions relate to duplicate content: Do we have to make the new individual service pages for hair salons with completely different text, even though it’s the same service, in order to avoid having duplicate content? Can we just change a few words from the “general service” page to specifically target hair salons, and somehow avoid Google seeing it as duplicate content? Reminder that these pages will be internal links inside of the hair salon industry page. Thank you in advance for your answers, Gaël

Duplicate content because of member only restrictions on a forum.
Our website's Community Forum links to the membership profile pages, which by default are blocked for non-members. https://www.foodbloggerpro.com/community/ https://www.foodbloggerpro.com/community/member/1301/ We're getting warnings in Moz for duplicate content (and errors) on these member profile pages. Any ideas for how we can creatively solve this problem? Should we redirect those pages or just beef them up with more content? Just ignore it and assume that search spiders will be smart enough to figure it out? See attached video for further explanation. Community_Area.mp4

What to do about resellers duplicating content?
Just went through a big redevelopment for a client and now have fresh images and updated content but now all the resellers have just grabbed the new images/content and pasted them on their own site. My client is a manufacture that sells directly online and over the phone for large orders. I'm just not sure how to handle the resellers duplicate content. Any thoughts on this? Am I being silly for worrying about this?

site.com/category/model_1
site.com/category/model_2 I'm mainly interested in getting the category webpages to rank high. The problem i've got is... what to put in the CATEGORY webpage!. Suppose you sale office furniture... and the category is 'chairs'... if you add content there, it won't be useful. What do you suggest me to add there?. ====== NOTE: My 'categories' webpage is split vertically, so you've got an image gallery on the left, and the product description on the right. So all of my product pages look a bit alike... and the 'category' itself has a placeholder on the right. I suspect that's why i'm not getting good rankings! THANKS in advance.0 -

Is is it true that Google will not penalize duplicated content found in UL and LI tags?
I've read in a few places now that if you absolutely have to use a key term several times in a piece of copy, then it is preferable to use li and ul tags, as google will not penalise excessive density of keywords found in these tags. Does anyone know if there is any truth in this?

How much constitutes duplicate content in your opinion?
Mornin' In your experience, how much constitutes duplicate content? A sentence, a paragraph, half a page, etc? What about quotes - are they considered duplications, too, if there aren't quotation marks? Over the years, the client has been a bit bad in taking a paragraph from here, a sentence from there, and coupling it all together as daily news on their site. I'm now in the middle of a purge. Oh boy! All hail originality.
