Does a loading homepage animation effect rankings?
-
Our website ( panphoenix dot com) has a Javascript animation when you load it for the first time which takes just over 2 seconds to load. Does having this animation effect rankings negatively? Would appreciate your thoughts! Thanks
Rob

Google is not going to render the animations, nor your loading image. So in terms of spidering, that shouldn't be a big deal.
The site seemed to be relatively fast in loading but I noticed you're not using a CDN to load all that extra content. I would highly recommend moving all that off to something like Amazon CloudFront. That should help your load times some.
Your site uses HTML5 so you might want to look into asynchronously loading some of your scripts. I noticed in Firebug that several scripts spent a long time being blocked (notably some Google scripts I didn't recognize)

Slow loading pages (even with a loading animation) can frustrate visitors and cause them to bounce. If people are clicking on your site in the SERPS and then bouncing straight back to the search results again, picking another result, then this could be a signal to google that your site isn't relevant to the searcher..
How big an impact this might have, I don't know.
Do you get much search traffic to this one page site? How many search terms are you getting traffic from? There aren't a lot of words on the page...
From a user experience point of view, it may be worth looking at the impact the loading animation is having on your site. Can you track the bounce rate? (Are you capturing the visit before the page loads?)
Can you find a way to remove the need to have a loading animation? Is it something you can test?
As a side note - your text is unreadable! You might also want to look at what happens when someone visits without javascript enabled, and with css disabled (javascript enabled, using firefox) I can't scroll down the page - which may indicate some accessibility issues.

Hi Rob
The JS script will increase the load time of the page, but it might not be too bad.
What I'd suggest you do is input the URL into this tool.
This will measure the speed of your site and the individual elements, including that bit of JS script. From there you can measure whether it is effecting your site speed too much.
If it is, there are a couple of things you could try to do. You could try loading the script from the footer, so that the rest of the page load isn't delayed while waiting for the script. You can also minify some of the JS code, reducing its size and therefore time to load. JSMin is a good free tool that helps you do this.
Hope this helps.

Why is my homepage not indexed by Google or Bing
http://www.schoppnutritionclinic.com/ Home page is not indexed by Google or Bing but all other pages are indexed. I know that currently i am missing the robot.TXT file and the sitemap. This is something i am woking on as a possible solution. I would have thought Google/Bing would have still indexed this page regardless of the lack of sitemap/robot.txt files not being present. I attempted to run a fetch and render in Webmaster tools and received a Not Found status.

Best techniques for trying to rank a single page website?
I am new to SEO and am currently trying to market a single page website. Its proving to be hard. I have managed to get the site to page one for a few keywords and it is improving (upto page 2 for some desired keywords) but it seems to have stuck there for a few weeks now - with no movement. I am able to develop it if required. However I thought that I would just ask if there was anything that could give it a nudge without this? I have done on-site optimisation. As far as I'm aware that's about as good as it can be. So any advice?

When Site:Domain Search Run on Google, SSL Error Appears on One URL, Will this Harm Ranking
Greetings MOZ Community: When a site:domain search is run on Google, a very strange URL appears in the search results. The URL is http://www.nyc-officespace-leader.com:2082/ The page displays a "the site's security certificate is not trusted." This only appears for one URL out of 400. Could this indicate a wider problem with the server's configuration? Is this something that needs to be corrected, and if so how? Our ranking has dropped a lot in the last few months. Thanks,

Is Fall In Keyword Ranking After Launch of Revamped Website Normal
After launching my redesigned website (www.nyc-officespace-leader.com) Google ranking has dropped significantly for competitive keywords. The previous version of the site and the new version both have approximately 450 pages. My website developer was careful to implement 301 redirects. Monitoring Google Webmaster tools it shows that Google has picked up a quantity of duplicate content. More than 950 pages or shown in their index while my site only has 450 pages. There are also certain pages which require canonical which tags my developer is in the process of implementing. The relaunch was July 10. My developer is of the opinion that this fluctuation in ranking is normal and that it will take Google about one month to reindex the new site and remove the old pages from the directory. Is this accurate? Anyone have any ideas on why my site has tanked in Google's search results? Thank you very much. Sincerely,

Are links from main page to inner pages will affect on ranking?
About 3 weeks ago I converted index.html to index.php. Both are 301 redirect to main url. Also I have about 70 links on main page pointing to internal pages. The Website is about 11 years old,and was on active link building . Is this conversion from html to php and also 70 links pointing to inner pages will affect on ranking?Since all links are passing juice to inner pages.
