Trademarked words in in Google Adwords ads - Why do competitors get to use them?
-
Hi,
The keyword I want to use in my ad is trademarked, so they disqualified my ad. The trademark was specifically cited as the reasoning. I tried this across maybe 5 different ads. All disqualified
The thing I don't understand is that there are like 10 other advertisers who are actively using this "trademarked" word in their ads.
It's not like 1 scooted past Google, there's a ton of advertisers doing it. So how do I get past them or were they grandfathered in or something?
FYI... I tried dynamic insert to see if that could my "trademarked" word in the back door, but no luck. Any other ideas?
Thanks!

Are you an affiliate of franchise? Are you actually selling the TM product? If yes, you can apply for approval for the TM term. https://services.google.com/inquiry/aw_tmauth?utm_source=policyhc&utm_medium=contact_tmauth&utm_campaign=6118
If the TM owner will not let you use the term, then you cannot use it in your ad... but you might be able to bid on the keyword. If there are other companies using the term in their text ads, they have either received approval, or their ads are very old and were approved prior to Google enforcing the TM restrictions. You could report them, but that's you call.

If your ads are disapproved and others (which you KNOW they are not authorized to use the trademarked names and still do, report those ads to Adwords. They will remove the ads braking TOS).
Link to report adwords violations: https://support.google.com/adwords/contact/feedback
But, if you are allowed by the trademark holder to use their names in the ads, just ask for a written authorization and send it back to Google, hopefully they will look into it.

Hi! Are your ads for affiliate links? Or are you advertising as an authorized reseller of the trademarked product? There are many rules revolving around affiliate links that may or may not apply to an official retailer carrying the product. Some good examples of products/brands that are very specific in terms of how and what can be advertised where and by who are Sony and Apple.
I started out in the world of affiliate marketing so I understand the numerous limitations there, particularly on bidding on branded search terms. There is a very good reason for it and this may or may not be the case here so I just thought I'd ask.

Approximate costs of keywords in Google AdWords
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions about how to go about getting some approximate costs for keywords through Google Adwords to assist my SEO efforts. I don't want to open an AdWords account, just looking for costs. If the pricing is too high then the opened account was a waste of time. So if anyone has any resources to find out this information, that would be great! Thanks in advance!

Adwords and Analytics Conversion Tracking within Adwords
I am trying to decide whether to setup conversion tracking in Adwords using the website/page as a source, or Analytics. I do understand the (basic) difference, however in tossing up the pro's and con's of each I would be grateful for some input. The advertiser is in the (offline) retail and service industry and so conversions being tracked include completing a form, making a booking etc - so it is no problem to implement the tracking snippet. My gut instinct is that Analytics is not as accurate as a reflection as the webpage (due to the way it records only the last conversion). Would it be a mistake to use both? (my concern is that double clicks will be recorded)

Competitors using bots for AdWords ?
I was having a discussion with a SEO manager on a LinkedIn group about page speed (she pretends that page speed is not taken into account by Google for SERPs at all and claims that all of what Matt Cutts says is BS) ; and she explained that she is using bots to click on her client's competitors AdWords and "kill their daily budget" So my question is, if you run/manage AdWords campaigns, have you ever met noticed such a behaviour, past the few usual click fraud rate ? What is your average fraud rate ?

Adwords Keyword Research - Simplifying Process
So far here's my algorithm: I will make an excel spreadsheet with all of our currently optimized keywords (about 300 I believe) I will grab all the keywords possible out of the adwords keyword tool I will merge the adwords keyword tool keywords with the 300 on the excel spreadsheet and erase the duplicates. I'll drop what's left over in exact match into a google adwords campaign I'll then use the + modifier with brand names and with two word keywords such as +brand +keywords +here Will this algorithm find all of the keywords, or am I missing something?
