Getting links to a blog post
-
Hi,
What is the best way to get a "good quality" link to my blog posts?
Thanks

Hi,
There are a few ways to go about this, but for the best results you have to use all the tricks in tandem.
1. Firstly the copy has to be really interesting, funny and/or look amazing.
Your standard boring 300 word articles do not cut it. There has to be something unique and offer extra value to other info on the web.
2. Promotion - There is no point in creating great content if it's not going to be found I have found 2 effective ways of doing this.

Getting you post featured on famous blogs. Having great contacts in the blog world always helps, but is difficult to build up a quick relationships especially if blogging isn't your business. So I recommend finding someone with experience promoting content. I would to pay between £200-£400 for a good job. (I charge £400 but I'm sure there are plenty of people that will do it for less, just make sure to have proof that they can do it
Examples:

If you are not looking to promote the content then it's important to write about something that people will search for. I wrote an article a few years back about the hottest cities in the world. It got no attention when it was initially published but now it ranks top on google for many search terms and always brings in at least 100 hits a day. Best tip is to use Google Keyword tool to find long-tail questions that people ask, then write about them.

The two options above are scattergun approaches that bring in traffic to your site but do not guarantee top quality links, however, they significantly improve your chances. For good quality links you need to hustle by going out to respected websites and ask them to publish your blog post. It's hard work but high value. For example find a college website that is teaching people about a specific subject that you can offer extra value on and ask them to put a link to your page.
-
Finally, if you become an renowend blogger in your field you get asked to write things for newpapers etc. The New York Times found our blog (ranks first for air conditioning blog on google) and asked us to write a piece for them.
Hope this helps a bit.

It's surely black hat tactics. How do they get away with this? The website has zero content beyond light brochureware.

Inbound Links not showing. Links are not no follow
Over the past several months I have definitely received inbound links to my website ( none of which are no follow). I have HubSpot as well s Moz and none of the links are showing. My competitors with the same link sources are showing though. I am completely dumbfounded. Why are my inbound links not showing and how much time does it take for them to show if they show at all? Thank you!

Hello, I have just been checking my link profile and according to webmaster tools a competitor is linking to my website. Is there anyway of finding this link besides looking at every page within their website? Many thanks

Should I ask sites that link to me to update links that redirect?
I have found some links to my site that go through a single 301 redirect to get to my site. Should I contact these websites to ask them to update the link, or is that not worth the time?

14,000 blog comment spam links placed on one domain!!
Trying to clear up a manual link penalty a client has received and I have found the client's site has been blog commenting 14,000 times on just one domain!! I need to do a reconsideration request and show Google that I have cleaned up the mess (the client has 50k backlinks, of which I am not happy with about 75% so far!!) but I cannot expect the website in question to go through 14k pages. What would people advise here. Would you state the sheer number of links on this site in the reconsideration request and use the disavow tool? Doesn't this suggest that I have been lazy and not put the effort into to clearing things up up

Is it better to have a blog under your main website's domain or should the company's blog have its own domain?
Is it better to have a blog under your main website's domain or should the company's blog have its own domain? And if the blog is on its own domain, do links to the main site look good or bad to Google? Thanks! (And please feel free to add any other related advice you might have...)

Are you careful about linking back to sites that link to you?
Suppose that a trusted website added you to their recommended links page. Do you worry that linking back to them from a page on your site will diminish the value of the original link?

Value of Inbound Links to Pages With a lot of Outbound Links
Suppose you have a resource page of the Top 50 Awesome Sites in your niche. Since there are about 50 outbound links, then I would think there will be less Page Rank being passed to internal pages from internal links on the resource page. Since you are getting less PR passed to internal pages, are there other ways the inbound links can be beneficial, such as increasing the diversity of links of your domain? Sites like SEO Optimise seem to create a lot of Top 30 Resources lists and I have read that they think it is a strong tactic.
