Simple Wordpress Question regarding Footer Link

I have a client with a site that has the company that built their website's link in the footer. How can I remove this? I am pretty proficient with Wordpress but I am drawing a blank. The site is www.northatlantacleaning.com

It could be a footer widget. If you go to the Appearance| Widgets section, you may a footer widget section--look in there for your code. It may also be in the settings section of your theme's options--be sure to look through that section too.

In genesis framework you edit the footer in functions.php
You could Google something like "Studiopress footer code snippet" or check at studiopress.com in the menu under Ressources > Code Snippets.

I looked in the editor in the main theme and the child theme. I used control f to search for it and didn't find their link. Any other possibilities?

I don't see anything odd. To me it looks to be located in the footer file. Go appeance/editor/footer.php look for that snippet of code and delete. It also looks to me to be the only bit of html in the footer. Don't forget to update your file afterwards.

Highlight the portion of the footer you want to remove, right click the highlighted portion and "inspect elements". This will tell you exactly what the code for that snippet is. Hope that helps.

Is there any way to tell if it's encrypted before doing it? From the website source?

There is a slight chance that the footer link is encrypted and removing it will break the formatting of the theme. Just a heads up, if you see that happen you'll need to do a little bit of Googling and you will find the solution, it's only slightly tricky if you know programming.

Yes that is correct. Also, when you remove it, don't forget to update the file, simple but people tend to forget.

When in Wordpress, click on "Appearance", "Editor", and you'll likely find "Footer" in the right column. I would guess that is where they included it.

FTP hacked - links build...
Hi guys, our ftp got hacked a few days ago and the person uploaded a bunch of html pages with links to fake rolex websites. They also build a ton of links to the urls they had created in the image folder on our site with very spammy keyword anchor texts all in line of the same fake watches. What do you recommend as a plan of action? Make a list of all the backlinks and upload them in the Google disavow tool? Obviously i have already deleted the pages they were linking to and secured our ftp. Looking forward to your advice 🙂

Question #1: Does Google index https:// pages? I thought they didn't because....
generally the difference between https:// and http:// is that the s (stands for secure I think) is usually reserved for payment pages, and other similar types of pages that search engines aren't supposed to index. (like any page where private data is stored) My site that all of my questions are revolving around is built with Volusion (i'm used to wordpress) and I keep finding problems like this one. The site was hardcoded to have all MENU internal links (which was 90% of our internal links) lead to **https://**www.example.com/example-page/ instead of **http://**www.example.com/example-page/ To double check that this was causing a loss in Link Juice. I jumped over to OSE. Sure enough, the internal links were not being indexed, only the links that were manually created and set to NOT include the httpS:// were being indexed. So if OSE wasn't counting the links, and based on the general ideology behind secure http access, that would infer that no link juice is being passed... Right?? Thanks for your time. Screens are available if necessary, but the OSE has already been updated since then and the new internal links ARE STILL NOT being indexed. The problem is.. is this a volusion problem? Wordpress Pages not indexing in Google
Hi, I've created a Wordpress site for my client. I've produced 4 content pages and 1 home page but in my sitemap it only says I have 1 page indexed. Also SEOmoz only finds 1 page. I'm lost on what the problem could be. The domain name is www.dobermandeen.co.uk Many thanks for any help. Alex

Wordpress/ Insert Tables/ SEO
I'm using Wordpress to create websites and blogs. I have limited (non-existent) HTML Coding knowledge. I'm looking to insert tables within my pages with information. Inside of these tables I want certain names to link to another page with more specific information about that name. I'm using a plugin called "WP Tables Reloaded" it simple helps you to create aesthetically pleasing tables without needing to know HTML Code or CSS. The issue is... when you create this table and insert it to the post, the only thing that shows on the sites back-end page is the table I.D. and the only thing that shows in the HTML is the tables I.D. It looks like this... [table id=2 /] I don't think search engines will be able to crawl this table, thus I won't be receiving any credit for the links being used within the table. Am I right about this?
