Simple Wordpress Question regarding Footer Link
-
I have a client with a site that has the company that built their website's link in the footer. How can I remove this? I am pretty proficient with Wordpress but I am drawing a blank. The site is www.northatlantacleaning.com
Thanks and I do extend the courtesy of awarding 'Best Answer' and thumbs up etc to good responses.

It could be a footer widget. If you go to the Appearance| Widgets section, you may a footer widget section--look in there for your code. It may also be in the settings section of your theme's options--be sure to look through that section too.
-
In genesis framework you edit the footer in functions.php
You could Google something like "Studiopress footer code snippet" or check at studiopress.com in the menu under Ressources > Code Snippets.

Finally at a real computer
Snippets are here: http://my.studiopress.com/snippets/footer/#custom-footer
Hope this solves your problem!

I tried to PM you and it isn't letting me. What is your username? I tried your name and going to your profile and clicking private message etc. PM me and Ill respond. thank you very much.

The images below are what I see in the "editor"... I don't see the tech-advocates url anywhere...
-
Jimmy, private message me with a screen grab of your footer.php file so i can see if i can find it.
-
I looked in the editor in the main theme and the child theme. I used control f to search for it and didn't find their link. Any other possibilities?
-
I don't see anything odd. To me it looks to be located in the footer file. Go appeance/editor/footer.php look for that snippet of code and delete. It also looks to me to be the only bit of html in the footer. Don't forget to update your file afterwards.
-
This is what I get when I highlight:
Copyright 2013 · All Rights Reserved · Website by
I don't see anything odd there...
the site is http://www.northatlantacleaning.com if you can take a glance and see if you see anything odd??
-
Highlight the portion of the footer you want to remove, right click the highlighted portion and "inspect elements". This will tell you exactly what the code for that snippet is. Hope that helps.
-
Is there any way to tell if it's encrypted before doing it? From the website source?
-
There is a slight chance that the footer link is encrypted and removing it will break the formatting of the theme. Just a heads up, if you see that happen you'll need to do a little bit of Googling and you will find the solution, it's only slightly tricky if you know programming.
-
Yes that is correct. Also, when you remove it, don't forget to update the file, simple but people tend to forget.
-
When in Wordpress, click on "Appearance", "Editor", and you'll likely find "Footer" in the right column. I would guess that is where they included it.

Is Sitewide Credit Link Good or Bad in 2015?
We are a web design agency thus we get a good number of links (footer) from our client's site. According to Matt Cutt, Google considers all the sitewide links to 1. So is it okay to have those links? Note: Those links are do-follow and most with 2 anchor text. "Web Design" by "Company Name" and "Website Development" by."Company Name". Thanks

Using a query string for linked, static landing pages - is this good practice?
My company has a page with links for each of our dozen office locations as well as a clickable map. These offices are also linked in the footer of every page along with their phone number. When one of these links is clicked, the visitor is directed to a static page with a picture of the office, contact information, a short description, and some other information. The URL for these pages is displayed as something like http:/example.com/offices.htm?office_id=123456, with seemingly random ID numbers at the end depending on the office that remain static. I know first off that this is probably bad SEO practice, as the URL should be something like htttp://example.com/offices/springfield/ My question is, why is there a question mark in the page URL? I understand that it represents a query string, but I'm not sure why it's there to begin with. A search query should not required if they are just static landing pages, correct?. Is there any reason at all why they would be queries? Is this an issue that needs to be addressed or does it have little to no impact on SEO?

Online Catalog (E-commerce like) Wordpress Themes?
I'm currently looking for a Wordpress theme similar to e-commerce/shopping websites like ebay. I'm planning to put up a buy and sell site for shoes where people can upload shoe listings on their own.. The site we're planning doesn't have a buy/checkout button and paypal integration so it will look like more of an online catalog and not a shopping cart. We will just add a contact number/email in the product listing so a buyer can contact and personally meet the seller. Let me know if this can be done in Wordpress + e-commerce plugins. I would also like to know if there's a WP plugin that will allow users to use Facebook or Twitter to login/sign up in our website/platform. Let me know if this is possible in Wordpress by installing a plugin. Thanks in advance!

Best Practice issue: Modx vs Wordpress
Lately I've been working a lot with Modx to create a new site for our own firm as well for other projects. But so far I haven't seen the advantages for SEO purposes other then the fact that with ModX you can manage almost everything yourself including snippets etc without to much effort. Wordpress is a known factor for blogging and since the last 2 years or so for websites. My question is: Which platform is better suited for SEO purposes? Which should I invest my time in? ModX or Wordpress? Hope to hear your thought on the matter

To link or not to link | Do Follow or No Follow?
I want to link to an event on a separate ticket website from at least 20 major pages. Is it OK to post a description & title & links on those 20 pages that are the same? (duplicate - but account for less than 5% of total on-page content) Do you Link as Do-Follow or No-Follow? ... and why? Or should I just use their ticket widget and plug that registration form into those 20 pages. (There still is a link - do-Follow, but everything stays on the website) I have been getting a lot of confusing answers as to whether have external links as follow or nofollow. If you know of any RECENT resources about the topic based on evidence rather than opinions that would help a lot.

Are links from main page to inner pages will affect on ranking?
About 3 weeks ago I converted index.html to index.php. Both are 301 redirect to main url. Also I have about 70 links on main page pointing to internal pages. The Website is about 11 years old,and was on active link building . Is this conversion from html to php and also 70 links pointing to inner pages will affect on ranking?Since all links are passing juice to inner pages.

This is not a question but a comment
My website www.kids-iq-tests.com is mainly focused on articles; however, I have noticed that after adding a few images of celebrities, I have gained a lot of traffic from image searches from Google. My point is that by adding images of popular celebrities to an article, you can gain a substantial amount of traffic. give it a try and see if you can gain traffic from image searches.
