Simple Wordpress Question regarding Footer Link

I have a client with a site that has the company that built their website's link in the footer. How can I remove this? I am pretty proficient with Wordpress but I am drawing a blank. The site is www.northatlantacleaning.com

It could be a footer widget. If you go to the Appearance| Widgets section, you may a footer widget section--look in there for your code. It may also be in the settings section of your theme's options--be sure to look through that section too.

In genesis framework you edit the footer in functions.php
You could Google something like "Studiopress footer code snippet" or check at studiopress.com in the menu under Ressources > Code Snippets.

I looked in the editor in the main theme and the child theme. I used control f to search for it and didn't find their link. Any other possibilities?

I don't see anything odd. To me it looks to be located in the footer file. Go appeance/editor/footer.php look for that snippet of code and delete. It also looks to me to be the only bit of html in the footer. Don't forget to update your file afterwards.

Highlight the portion of the footer you want to remove, right click the highlighted portion and "inspect elements". This will tell you exactly what the code for that snippet is. Hope that helps.

Is there any way to tell if it's encrypted before doing it? From the website source?

There is a slight chance that the footer link is encrypted and removing it will break the formatting of the theme. Just a heads up, if you see that happen you'll need to do a little bit of Googling and you will find the solution, it's only slightly tricky if you know programming.

Yes that is correct. Also, when you remove it, don't forget to update the file, simple but people tend to forget.

When in Wordpress, click on "Appearance", "Editor", and you'll likely find "Footer" in the right column. I would guess that is where they included it.

Anything wrong in linking to homepage from all sub domain pages?
Hi, We have 6 sub domains which are forums, guides, etc. They have their own visitors for the related queries. We are planning to divert some of them to the website to promote our product with latest content. We are planning to add a link from every page of sub domain to our website homepage. 2 Menu links to same page. Is this a problem?
One of my clients wants to link to the same page from several places in the navigation menu. Does this create any crawl issues or indexing problems? It's the same page (same url) so there is no duplicate content problems. Since the page is promotional, the client wants the page accessible from different places in the nav bar. Thanks, Dino

Link juice passing from a .org.uk link to a .org/uk websites
Hi all, A client I am working on had a CMS built in recently which has resulted in all their canonicals tags being taken off the website, and as such the same page with both a .org/uk and .org.uk/uk domain have appeared in the search results and I am wondering what your guys take is on the best cause of action. For further background: Historically they have always used .org.uk/uk (not sure why) for their UK website and used .org/xxx for other countries (they also have a .org splashpage FYI). Having seen the .org/uk pages, and knowing they have to choose one to avoid duplication, they would like to move their uk website to the .org/uk domain to fit in with the rest of the divisions. However due to the historical use of .org.uk/uk their backlink profile contains links to both the .org.uk and .org domains. My question then: would a canonical tag on all the .org.uk/uk pages pointing to the .org/uk pages be strong enough to pass on link juice to the .org/uk pages (from all links pointing to .org.uk) or would a 301 redirect be required in this instance, or indeed would it be best to stay with the .org.uk/uk domain? Tons of 404 errors - wordpress permalink structure
hi all, noticed my crawl report is showing a ton of 404 errors. my site is running on wordpress, and i believe this is related to a change in my permalink structure (all of the pages do exist, but the url is slightly different). how does the crawl report find these 404s? When navigating around my site, the correct pages are accessible, but the report is seeing the old URL structure for some reason. Do these live in the sitemap? How can this be corrected? thanks so much for your help!

H1 image replacement question
Working with content folks on a new section of our website. Developed a new logo for this section of the site, and they want to incorporate the style of it into all of the page headings. The only way to pull this off is to use images for H1's. (Without getting into unnecessary detail, they have to be images - too precise to try text over background images.) I made everyone aware of the importance of H1 text for SEO purposes, but they really want these images. When I first attempted SEO back in 2003, I recall doing a site using CSS image replacement along these lines: Widget Page #example {

} That was nearly 10 years ago, and they definitely ranked for the H1s at the time which led me to believe it worked. Anyone know if this is considered an acceptable practice today? I read some other threads about enclosing the image in tags and relying on the ALT text, but that doesn't seem to be a good option.0 -
Over Optimization & Footer Links for Crediting Web Design to a Company
With the recent updates to the algorithm having to do with link networks and over optimization it has got me to thinking about the footer links we add to each site that we build and do web design for linking back to ours. I could certainly see how Google could make the assumption that these are all on the same server, pointing back to one main site, and penalize us for that. Should we no=follow these links? They may say something like, "Website Designed By: Company Name". They do provide a valuable source to some extent of traffic to the site from people interested in our designs. Any thoughts?
