SEO software for multiple views - Responsive web design
-
We have a responsive web design website and noticed this morning that we are ranking better on a cell phone search than on a PC search. There has been talk about this happening. My competitors do not have cell phone views or responsive websites.
Does anyone know if Moz is planning on adding this kind of ranking information to their reports?
Thanks Carla

Hi guys!
Thanks for the question I am glad you asked that. Currently the SERP collector we are using assumes few IPs and identities to scrub all of the personalization and "biases" that are associated with normal search to give you the most accurate ranking. Mobile search is is fundamentally biased since your phone is a wealth of personalized data and information search engines use to produce rankings (another reason why user data is such a valuable commodity). While mobile rankings is something we are looking for the in the future, at the moment our result remains as a computer search rankings.
We really appreciate feedback and feature requests; they help us decide what parts of our software development to prioritize. Here's the feature request forum we use to collect ideas:
http://seomoz.zendesk.com/forums/293194-seomoz-pro-feature-requests
You can vote for features you'd like to see and suggest your own, both of which help our product team in deciding what to build next. Add your request there and hopefully we'll see it come to fruition sometime down the line. Thanks again, and best of luck!
Have a great day,
Peter

Hi David,
Thanks for your contribution. I didn't realize Google had different kinds of bots but now that you said it makes a lot of sense. If Google did have a bot for each device it seems like MOZ would have to have one too to be able to produce accurate ranking reports for each device.
Thanks!

- Google Tablet Bot
- Google PC / Laptop Bot
- Google Smart TV Bot???

I have no idea what MOZ is planning to do but you have to love the SEO benefits of offering mobile friendly sites and video as well.
I have had the 1, 2 or 3 spot for SEO my town for nearly 3 months from a half hour of work with video and while we have double the amount of desktop traffic we are tracking 3 times as many of our sales or goals from mobile devices.
I just want to inject, we had a client worried that this was hurting their desktop results because they were scoring better on mobile but it is not an indicator of that at all. Google bot Mobile is one index and Google bot is another. The mobile simply has few competitors and is easier to rank in. This is why you do not have to worry about duplicate content when you chunk out pages for mobile as long as you make your sitemaps correctly.
I didn't serve to answer your question at all but I loved seeing your post and had to comment.

How to rank for multiple keyword phrases
Hello everyone! My website is smartyprogrammer.com. How do you go about ranking for multiple keyword phrases? Using the Site Grade Tool, I rank really well for one keyword phrase, like "Smarty Programmer", but then rank really poorly for another phrase like "Smarty Tuner". However, if I change my titles and all my wording towards "tuner" instead of "programmer", it seems like it will make my content either be spammy sounding, or I'll starting lacking in the "programmer" department. Is it best to just create a separate page to rank for "Smarty Tuner"? Or what is the best way to go about ranking for multiple important keyword phrases? Thanks everyone for your help!

Anyone had an Extensive Look at Hubspot SEO Features and Tools ?
Mozz, Some co-workers are looking into some of the of tools that Hubspot offer as part of there marketing package, I understand it is part of a bigger picture for the hubspot software and moz is much more focused on technical seo etc, But i am just wondering if anyone had spent any extensive time using the hubspot software and has any feedback on the tools? Is there anything (Just the seo section) that moz cannot ? there are alot of really great moz tools i use that i haven't seen in the hubspot software, like the crawl test, the onpage grading doesn't look at as many aspects as moz, link information and opportunities looked limited compared to moz/majestic seo , no landing page tool like the one built into moz analytics campaigns and hubspot just generally seemed to provide less information ? Any advice or feedback would be grealy appreciated ? Thanks James

Identify business pain points using SEO
Hi, can I use SEO research techniques to identify what kind of services businesses are searching for? Is it possible to find out pain points? I have been using tool like MicroNicheFinder to do such a research but I am not getting any where. Is SEO only used to outrank my competition? Do I need to first know what business I need to be in and then use SEO techniques to research the demand? Do I make sense? You can tell that I am very new at the internet marketing thing. Please let me know. Thanks.

SEO Yoast data export
Just thought I would give something back. (Is this the right place!) I use Wordpress with the excellent SEO Yoast plugin. I needed a way of extracting the focus keywords that I have entered onto my pages along with the url for use on the SEOmoz On-page Optimisation tool. So I created GetYoastData which outputs to the browser the required data (and a bit more) that can be saved into an csv (Excel) file. Hope you find it useful - Yes it's not polished and yes it might output a blank line now and again but it's fairly useful. http://deanandrews.uk/get-yoast-seo-data/
