No progress in 3 months!!

Hi All
I have been using Moz for about 3 months now and love the tools and support. I have been working really hard on seo improvements, fixing lots of coding errors and adding content to my site. My last 3 keyword reports have been very disappointing. I have lost rankings in many of my keywords and some have been ranked very well for years. (talking google) I see only 2 factors that have changed. 1. My 'improvements' and 2. the google update. As everyone knows seo is very time consuming and I am so disappointed with my site going backwards after such a dedicated focus. An example would be the keyword 'christmas return address labels'. I am not even ranked in the top 100 and the last report put me down 50!Here is a link to my category page for funny christmas cards for another example:
http://www.stonehousecollection.com/cards/funny-christmas-cards.html
BTW I sell greeting cards and I am so frustrated that Zazzle seems to dominate every keyword and google shopping result. It seems they are gaming the system.
P.S. If you are an seo professional I would be interested in your services as well.
Thank you

Adam has some great advice! I would like to reiterate Adam's comment about diversifying your online marketing efforts. Think past SEO. With Google's affinity for smashing ads all over the top of the SERPs driving organic further and further down the page, online marketers need to think about alternatives. Organic traffic is nice (FREE!) but sometimes you have to spend some green to make some money!
A couple additional recommendation:
- I think that a cute social campaign would be a terrific way to increase traffic to your site and build engagement. You have a fun product, leverage it! If you can think of a way to get people to engage with your brand you'll see increased revenue. I love Youtube for this. Here is an example of an unsexy brand crushed it.
<a>http://worldsbestcasestudies.com/dela-say-something-wonderful/</a> - Try and watch this without crying! I dare you!
Follow it up with promoted posts,
<a>http://www.salesforcemarketingcloud.com/blog/2013/04/social-media-advertising-guide/</a>
- PPC campaign focusing on the Long-tail. You aren't going to beat Zazzle, but maybe you can be more strategic with your keywords.

Good luck!
P.S. Remember that Moz is no longer SEOmoz for a reason. There is a ton of content here on alternative online marketing outlets. Spend some time in the blogs section and research. Go out there and kick some ass!

Hey Mker,
Here are a few things to consider:
-
You are in a sector that is hit pretty hard with an authority domain (Zazzle), you have to remember that the closer to the authority source a link is the more value it holds. Perhaps even opening up a Zazzle shop with an external link, or trying to get some craft blogs to write about your service could be some very valuable routes.
-
Integrate the product schema (http://schema.org/Product) not only will it help your SEO rankings but it's sure to boost your CTR and conversion rates simply because of the additional visual stimuli
-
Do some detailed keyword analysis, perhaps they keywords you are fighting for simply aren't the right fit for you. Try finding a number of easier ones that have smaller traffic but by grabbing a few of them you could equal the traffic of a more challenging word
-
Consider further segmenting your products so that you can have pages that target specific keywords - just like too many cooks spoil the stew, too many keywords spoil the SEO. If it makes sense to split your products and optimize your pages give it a whirl
-
SEO isn't the only strategy, consider inbound marketing some PPC ads or a Facebook fan page running a promotion make work wonders at the holiday season. Believe it or not even if you were ranking first organically some users would still only ever click the ads, and users that are ad shoppers are far higher when it comes to converting.
-
Off-site is going to be key in such a competitive industry, but far to many people make the mistake of trying to go for big high-quality links and as many as they can muster. Remember Google sees everything and hates SEO their main goal is to find sites that naturally and organically gain authority across the internet. When considering such things you may want to look at what seems reasonable for your industry. Appearing on popular mum blogs, craft blogs and holiday blogs or forums would be your best bet. If suddenly you had a ton of wikipedia links it would likely seem a little sketchy!
-
Watch out for any SEO now a days who doesn't talk about inbound marketing and buyer personas. SEO as a tactic is a dying breed, SEO is now a part of a much larger strategy - and the key reason why SEOmoz is now Moz. People who talk to they are blue in the face about building you links and optimizing your on page are likely to hurt you in the long run. Take the time to invest in someone who is going to give you a holistic and complete approach to inbound marketing. When the user is happy, Google is happy and ranks are high!
-
Last but not least use a tool like ahrefs and scan for sketchy links, maybe despite all your hard work something is dragging you down. Try and contact those webmasters of any spammy links you may have to get them removed, and if worst comes to worst try the Google disavow tool
Oh and PS don't forget a site map, eCommerce and a beautiful sitemap with product schema markup is sure to be a great hit!

#1 on Bing, nowhere on Google. Should be at least top 3\. Any ideas?
I have a page that "should" be top 3 on Google - it's optimised (A on the Moz Pro page grader), it's the most relevant result (it's for an e-book, and the page is the publisher's page for the e-book). Other pages on the site for other books are top of the Google SERPs, and this page itself is top in Bing for the search phrase. The page is https://camphorpress.com/books/formosan-odyssey/ and the keyphrase I want to rank for is "formosan odyssey" (with or without the quotes). Does anyone have any insight as to why it's not ranking in Google? Over-optimised? Duplicate content? Many thanks.

Unable to Get Back to Performance Levels Six Months After Attack
We work on a fine art site. In May we were attacked and blocked by Google for about 12hrs until we cleared all affected pages and files. Our response was pretty fast, and to be fair, so was Google's action to unblock us. However, shortly afterwards, the entire site's page rank disappeared, it never came back. I also believe people are now speculating that Google's PR updates are either overdue or have stopped, so I can't gauge PR at all. One way we can gauge potential for position is that we remain top 1-6 in Bing for most terms. Moz authority reflects this as well. An example: http://www.bing.com/search?q=doug+hyde+prints&qs=n&form=QBLH&filt=all&pq=doug+hyde+prints&sc=6-15&sp=-1&sk= https://www.google.co.uk/search?rls=en&q=doug+hyde+prints These are the types of position we occupied on Google prior to the drop. We've been told there are no manual actions against us, nevertheless we've worked to clean out any duplicate content and disavow some link trawling/people directory sites that duplicated a lot of our content. Page code has been cleaned up, pages optimised, loading times reduced where possible etc. etc.. This chap seems to have had similar issues back in 2011: http://moz.com/community/q/not-ranking-well-after-site-was-hacked Any input/experience gratefully received. Working our wotsits off to generate traffic off no PR and Adwords at the moment and it's a struggle. I've actually got new sites to rank faster and better than this in 3 months, so this is one big penalty. Roland

Duplicate content issues arise 6 months after creation of website?!
Hi, I've had the same website for 6 months and fixed all original on-site issues a long time ago.Now this week I wake up and found 3 new errors: 3 of my pages have missing titles issues, missing meta description issues and also the Moz crawl says they all have duplicate content issues. All my rankings went down a lot as well. This site is static, doesn't even have a blog, everything is rel canonical and non-indexed. It's 100% original content as well. So how can those issues arise 6 months later? All my titles and descriptions are there and non-duplicate, and the content is original and not duplicate as well. Is this a wordpress bug or virus? Anyone had this happen to them and how to fix it? Thanks a lot for you help! -Marc

Is there a way for me to automatically download a website's sitemap.xml every month?
From now on we want to store all our sitemap.xml over the next years. Its a nice archive to have that allows us to analyse how many pages we have on our website and which ones were removed/redirected. Any suggestions? Thanks

How does Progressive Loading, aka what Facebook does, impact proper search indexation?
My client is planning on integrating progressive loading into their main product level pages (those pages most important to conversions and revenue). I am not skilled on "progressive laoding" but was told this is what Facebook does. Currently, the site's pages are tabbed and use Ajax. Is there any negative impact by changing this up by including progressive loading? If anyone can help me understand what this is and how it might impact a site from an SEO perspective, please let me know. thanks a ton!! Janet

Round 3 & still no indexing for varicose veins :-(
Greetings from 11 degrees C partly suuny Wetherby 🙂 Every so oftem you hit an SEO mission that just consistently hits a brick wall. For the third time i'm investigating why this page:
Technical SEO | | Nightwing
http://www.collegeofphlebology.com/varicose-veins/what-are-they/ fails to even reach the bottom of page 3. Ive gone back to basic and ran an SEO audit of sorts in an attempt to see if I'd missed anything. Here is the audit: http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/audit-for-moz.jpg So my question is please: From a technical SEO perspective is there anything wrong with this page http://www.collegeofphlebology.com/varicose-veins/what-are-they/ to explain why it does not rank for target term "Varicose Veins" Thanks in advance,

301 Redirect for 3 Domains into 1 New Domain
So I wanted a quick sanity check on the htaccess syntax for migrating 3 domains into 1 new domain. For example, we're migrating 3 sites abc.com, def.com and ghi.com, all into 1 new site on ghi.com. Here's the htaccess we're placing on the root of ghi.com: redirect 301 http://www.abc.com/wines.html http://www.ghi.com/wines redirect 301 http://www.def.com/trade.html http://www.ghi.com/trade
Technical SEO | | cmaseattle
redirect 301 http://www.ghi.com/winery-tours.html http://www.ghi.com/visit/taste On the DNS side of things, we're parking abc.com and def.com on the ghi.com server. I'm not seeing examples of htaccess files for this scenario, and none that use any domain info on the "from" side of the redirect 301 syntax. Any suggestions before we pull the trigger? Thanks!0
