No data available for example.com in WMT. What to do?
-
Hi,
Our problem is simple: we have statistics data for www.example.com but some data is missing for example.com (eg."links to your site", "structured data, "html improvements") .
However, "search queries", "index status" and some other data is available for example.com.
The problem is that we have over 5000 subdomains and we see no information about them.(especially links pointing to them).
We followed every advice given by Google but doesn't seem to work:
-Adding www.example.com and example.com in WMT
-Setting www.example.com as the preffered domain
-Using DNS verification to verify our site
What do we have to do?
Thank you,
Axello

Hi Everett,
The Google Search Quality Team's response was:
"Hi,
Thank you for your email. To see link data from subdomains, you will have to verify each subdomain to your Webmaster Tools account.Sincerely,
The Google Search Quality Team
"
We have changed our content structure to a directory based structure.
Thank you for your support.

Hello Axello,
Are you still having this problem? If so, someone may need to look at your GWT setup to diagnose the issue. You can try some of the SEO companies and consultants listed here in order to hire an analyst to help fix the issue.
If you feel comfortable sharing the domain I can have a look for you to see if there are any answers to be had without logging into GWT.

Everett,
Thank you for your support.
The DNS verification was done from mydomain.com.
We are more willing to pay for this service, if your team gets the right solution.
Thank you,
Axello

Sorry for the misunderstanding Axello, but I was asking from which site account did you set up the DNS record for verification. If you did this from the www.mydomain.com account when setting it up to be verified it is possible that the code given would not work for other subdomains, since technically "www" is a subdomain. This is all relatively new for everyone, including myself, but I would try using the DNS verification method from the http://mydomain.com GWT account if you haven't done that already.
Does this make sense? I am very curious to know what the issue is too. Please keep us posted. In the meantime, maybe someone else from Moz can provide some input as well. I will ask our team if any have dealt with this.
Regards,
Everett

Hi Everett,
I think i sent the question from www.mydomain.com.
I did it again from mydomain.com. Today.

Axello,
In regard to my other question: Did you set it up on http://yourdomain.com or from the http://www.yourdomain.com GWT account?
-
Hi Everett,
We have sent a message using their feedback form one month ago. But no response.
-
Hello Axello,
Thank you for your patience as we narrow down the possibilities.
Have you sent any kind of email or help request to the GWT team?
Did you do this on http://yourdomain.com or from the http://www.yourdomain.com GWT account? If you want it to cover all subdomains you may have to do it from http://yourdomain.com.

Hi Everett,
The DNS verification was made almost a month ago.
Nothing seems to work.

Hello Axello,
How long has it been? Sometimes it takes several days, even up to a week, for the DNS changes to take effect.

Two of Four Google Analytics Views Not Showing Data
Question for you MOZ friends: We added two new views about a week ago, the same views that we have added for more than 50 Accounts, and they are not showing any data. The views are for 'Filtered Traffic' (no IPs or spam) and 'Organic Only' including only the organic medium. Any ideas why this may not be working? First time we've come across this and couldn't find much help researching it... Thanks as always! street%20ga_zpsorfdnemi.png

How do I get compete.com to track my data
Is there a tracking code for them? I cannot find a way to get them to track my site data. I know it seems trivial, but it is sadly a big tool in my industry so I need to get my data on their site

Webmaster Tools vs. Google Trends data doesn't add up
I am investigating a two-month 25% drop in organic traffic from Google to a client's site. When I turned to the Webmaster Tools data for the site, there is a clear, gradual drop over the course of a couple months both in impressions and clicks. In general, the drop occurred across many pages and for a large number of queries; there wasn't a core group of keywords or pages that saw the drop...it was more sitewide. Yet, the average rankings reported by WMT were, for the top 100 or so landing pages, not significantly different. The site hosts information about medical conditions, and I wouldn't expect any time-related variations in search volume, and this was confirmed by looking at Google Trends data for a number of the top keywords. I started to look at the data by query for all the top keywords (all ranked in the top 10), and saw the following general trend: impressions were down, rankings stayed in the top 10, and Google Trends showed either flat or rising volumes. So I am trying to make sense of that. If the search volume trend did not decline and rankings held inside the top 10, then how could the number of impressions drop significantly? Am I trusting the WMT data too much? But the reality is that the volume of traffic measured by Google Analytics from Google organic did indeed drop the way Webmaster Tools show it.

Last summer we setup another Google Analytics property for us with Universal Analytics and have been running this alongside the old Google Analtyics property. is there a way of exporting all the old data from the old property into the new Universal Analytics property?

If I change the URL of a page, but the old page canonicalizes to the new, do I need to change my Analytics goals to get data?
I changed the URLs of some pages recently (because the same thing that affects the internal anchor text also affects the URL - grr...) but considered it not a big deal because even if I looked at the source code of the old URL, the canonical tag was now pointing to the new one. The question is - if I had URL destination goals set up for those URLs in Google Anlaytics, do I now have to change them? Or does Google somehow know that anyone getting to the new URL is the equivalent of someone getting to the old URL because of the canonical tag that exists on the old URL source code? I still do see goal conversions for some of the old URLs even since I changed them - but it could be that people are still somehow finding the old URL somewhere - or that Google only reindexed it a week or so after I made the change. Any light to shed? Thanks in advance, Aviva B

222.mydomain.com... I'm stumped....
Hi, I'm stumped by this one and am hoping I can get some advice/guidance. I've seen this pop up in my stats where the www.mydomain.com/page is appearing as 222.mydomain.com/page. I have no clue what's going on... This google return displays the same page 2 ways (see first image). And when I click on the 222. link I get a prompt (see 2nd image). Any idea what's going on? Thanks! Peter ipHKt.png o0ZeB.png

For an optimized site, any available stats / guesstimates on what is avg % of traffic to homepage vs. second-level pages?
I'm interested in passing this info on to a client who experienced a period of time when an incorrect GA code was installed on their homepage. They were able to get Google stats on second level pages only. This is a site that gets 80 + % of visits from organic search engine referrals. They do minimal advertising. Thanks in advance.
