Control Over SERPs
-
I launched a content branch of over 1200 guides for my company's website one year ago. This content branch now receives 180,000 visits per month. Unfortunately, my company has needed to cut back on several of the vertical services that it offers. As a result, many of the top article search results accounting for the majority of the traffic to this branch are now obsolete.
Are there any feasible ways to shift the authority of these obsolete top rated pages (located in the top 20 results) to other articles that cover services that we still do offer? For reference, please see the attached image containing an overview of the top 20x results accounting for 40% of all traffic to this content branch.
Green are still valid content and but all other colors are not. Does anyone have suggestions for moving more green articles up and into the top 20x results while pushing the other ones down without loosing out on overall site traffic?
Appreciate any and all feedback! Thanks!!!

I agree 100% with Moosa
what he is has described is exactly what you need to do.
You might want to argue with your boss little bit about the reduction ROI however 301 redirecting is the correct way to go about saving your site.
Sincerely,
Thomas

Ok, the pages that are obsolete for your company should be 301 redirected to the pages that still contain importance for your company. This will not only redirect the visitor’s to the pages that are valid for you but also shift the link juice (authority) for your business.
Due to the Increase in authority valid pages (guides) will more likely to get better visibility in Google!
Hope this helps!

Serp Stars?
Is there anyway of getting the Stars to show up for a home page? The issue is that 70% of our traffic goes to our home page and while we have stars for the product pages this only covers 30% of our traffic the other 70% goes to our home page and due to this not being a product page it does not have them. Would selling the product direct on this page allow us to have them? I appreciate any help.

Best way to move the content to a different domain without inviting any SERP penalty?
Hi all, We are in a bit of a fix right now. We have around 60-70 articles (Wordpress pages / posts) that we intend to move to another domain of ours. What's the best way to do so such that we do not invite any Google penalty. Here's a detailed information about our case:

Let's say, our site example.com has more 2000 articles. To help us better position our content for one of the sections on example.com, we have started another website, example2.com and want to move those 60-70 articles from example.com to example2.com. What is the best way to do it such that we are not penalised by Google? Is it (a) Move all the said content (60-70 articles) from example.com to example2.com and (b) do a permanent redirect (301) of each of the older article URLs to newer article URLs. What are the other options?0 -
Does Having A High PPC Bounce Rate Affect Organic SERPs?
Hi Mozzers. My website uses a landing page for Google Adwords traffic targeting keywords like HR Software, HR Systems etc. The design of the landing page is similar to our website but a key difference is that, being a landing page, we've removed the navigation (it is still possible to navigate to the main website by clicking on the logo). We've A/B tested this and found that by removing the navigation we get more people converting/signing up for the free trial of our service. We track conversions using Google Analytics. Depending on the keyword the conversion rate is between 2.5% and 5%. However, because we've removed the navigation the bounce rate is really high, circa 80% for our landing page compared to an average for our website of approx 40%. Would having such a high bounce rate harm our organic rankings for the rest of the website? Thanks

How to remove "Results 1 - 20 of 47" from Google SERP Snippet
We are trying to optimise our SERP snippet in Google to increase CTR, but we have this horrid "Results 1 - 20 of 47" in the description. We feel this gets in the way of the message and so wish to remove it, but how?? Any ideas apart from removing the paging from the page?

My site dropped in serp and backlinks ranked higher than it.
appliance-repair-ny.com I recently got some new good page rank backlinks (4-5) to my site. After a nice increase in rankings i left it for a couple of day (holiday) when i came back i found out that my rankings dropped dramatically for many different keywords when in some cases the backlinks are listed higher than me for the keyword. Any suggestions? should i keep on building links in the same paste, or slow down a little? UPDATE: I now noticed that the seomoz app has a warning that my homepage is missing title tag and meta tag. I'm using wordpress and headspace plugin. I recently updated wordpress.
