Does Google drop links from page rank N/A sources?
-
Hi Everyone,
I've started doing some link analysis on one of my site that has over nearly 800 links in total (which I got from the webmaster tools downloading the latest links). When I go on to Google and use the "link:www.mysite.com" directive it will only display 12 links. Does this mean Google is only counting 12 links from the link profile?
Iv checked the freshness of some the links it wasn't displaying within Google to check they hadn't all expired. Links from march 2013 still don't appear.
This sites link profile has been untouched for at least a year now and is full of directories many of which have a page rank of N/A hence my question. (I'm surprised it hasn't been hit by penguin!)
Thanks in advance.

For most purposes, OSE works very well and provides a great amount of detail about each link--plus, it is included with your membership. It's your best place to start and though it takes some time to feel comfortable with the metrics, the more you use it the better you'll understand it.

Thanks Chris,
I have noticed a great amount of inconstancies between each of the linking analysis software (wish they all had the same its would make things so much easier haha) is there a particular link analysis software you would recommend?I use open-site explorer, a free link analysis tool by Internet Marketing Ninjas and web master tools at the minute.

Wow, I hadn't seen the link:mydomain search query in a while.
First of all, I woulnd't bother with that search--it's not anywhere close to accurate and it doens't indicate anything that's very useful to you. Links to your site from other domain may well be counting for or against you and you should start with the opensiteexplorer.org tool to get a better idea of you back links. However, that tool my not even show you all of them-especially if they are on really low quality pages on really low quality domains. You may also check majesticseo.com and ahrefs.com as alternative sources.
If you do have a bunch of unnatural back links, now might be a good time to start working to get them removed.

Should we get link from dated page with high PA/DA?
We have an unlinked mention on a page that has dated content about an old event but the page and site have a good PA and DA score. Is it worth it to go for the link? Thanks.

Links to deep pages good for Homepage ranking?
Hello Moz community. My question today is: if I got great backlinks with anchor text "abc" coming to a deep resource page in my site, will these links help my homepage rank for keyword "xyz"? In other words, are all links (regarless of anchor text) coming to a site helpful for the homepage to rank for its main keyword? Thanks.

1 Domain - 2 Links Pointing to 2 Different Pages
Hi Guys, I wonder if you can give me any pointers: We have an exact match domain name that is ranking #5 for our main keyword and is getting some good traffic through the site. We have just created a landing page for another keyword with fresh content that will be updated every week. The question is, I've been building links to my domain name and I'm just wondering if we built another link from 1 of the sites we already have a link on and point it to this new landing page would this help it rank better or not? Hope the above makes sense. Thanks, Scott

How many days/hours a month should I dedicate to link building ?
I realise that the more time you dedicate to link building the better, but what would you say is the ideal amount of time that I should spend link building to see a significant improvement in rankings? The keywords I'm trying to target are medium to difficult. So far, I've been spending one day link building but since I'm making all link submissions manually, I haven't seen great results, even though I've been link building for a couple of months. How many days do you spend link building? Thank you in advance for your help! 🙂

If Google truly penalizes sites for bad linking, could my competitor sabotage me?
I am sure this has been discussed before (I am new). I am very paranoid about upsetting Google with questionable SEO practices. The white hat people sometimes claim that google will penalize you for bad linking, paying for links, buying social bookmarks etc. If this is true, could my competitor do this for my site to lower my rankings? I would never know about it until it was too late. If they can't do this to me, then what's to stop me from doing it to my own site? Maybe I am missing something here. Thanks for your input.

Low page rank directories but high domain authority?
I just paid someone to submit me to a few directories and I saw were I was listed on one of them today. The url page authority of where I was listed was a "1" with zero moz trust and zero moz authority. The root domain authority is a "69". Is page authority or domain authority the most important for links? I believe all the directories I was submitted to have url page authority of "1". ( I watched a video yesterday and I think the head guy said that page authority was most important but I am not sure.
