Local: Checking to make sure this NAP is good before launching campaign
-
Hello,
I'm launching a local campaign. Here's my NAP, I want to make sure that it looks good and that there aren't any new developments in local SEO that will effect my campagin.
Here's the address we'll use:
913 S Latah St #H, Boise, ID 83705
where H means suite H
Any suggestions before we launch this campaign?
Thanks!

Hey Bob,
To make sure you are starting with a clean slate, you might have to clean the slate. I would first Google the
1. Name
2. Address
3. Phone Number
Then claim and adjust anything that isn't consistent with your current nap. This includes variations of suite so "suite" "ste" "ste." "#" this will make sure that all the authority is passed to your site, and not a non-existent business. You can also check an accuracy report on Yext or GetListed.org.
Then make sure moving forward you use the same info without the slightest variation. I would begin building citations first with the big data aggregators: Google, Infogroup, Localeze, Axciom, etc.

Bob,
If "Local" happened in a vacuum, you would be fine as we all would be. Unfortunately, it doesn't and Google is having issues daily in local. (Search disappearing G local pics, etc.). So, here is what I would suggest to you. First, you said NAP and you have no phone (and I am guessing you excluded on purpose). Here is how I checked yours:
First, I copied the address and placed it alone in Google to see what result showed up. When I look at G maps I see one listing in the middle of the road around construction. I see the location with multiple offices in the building. For Ste. H, I find a Yelp listing re weight loss. If this is the business, you need to go into Yelp and take care of the profile - pics, etc. as Yelp is important today in Local. If this is not the business you have run into your first problem. A suggestion would be to insure you have a different phone number and if they listed is as #H you list it as Ste. H.
So, that is the road as it starts . You must take a look at the whole of local and all the citation sites that may have this address given the building appears to have had vacancies and new businesses over time - that can cause you problems.
Hope it helps,
Robert

Hi there, I have found Bright Local to be invaluable when it comes to clean NAP. I've been using it for about 4 months and I could not live with out it. I fist heard about it from a Moz Mozinar and I'm glad I did. I hope that helps
All the best,
Ben.

Google+ Local Listing - No Physical Address
Hi everyone, I have a client who won't be renewing his lease for where he conducts his business. Instead he will be working from home. That being said, he does not wish to have his personal address details showing within his local listing. Is there any other way to still show for Google Local without a personal or business address? Is a PO box possible, other there any other alternatives? Thanks in advance. Leo

Updating Over 100 Local Listings - Cleaning Local Profile and Upload Questions
Hello. I'm currently updating over 100 places in Google Local Listings They have approximately 300 listings already in the account, with approx. 100 of them already verified. The amount of 'True' locations is around 130. In order to provide maximum,  appropriate NAP data, I need to update the 100 as well. So, my question is in multiple parts - 1. How do I override and update the current locations in bulk? It doesn't appear that there's a way. Every time I upload a datafeed, it gets a new listing. 2. Because of all the listings in various states of verification, (Over 200), is there an easy way just to clear them out that's NOT manual? 3. Is there a way to export all CURRENT locations? The datafeed download only contains items which are trying to be updated..there doesn't appear to be a way to export all current data. Thanks for any help you can provide about a project of this size is appreciated.

Practice Name vs. Dr. Name in Local Search
I wanted to get some opinions on an interesting situation for local search. Many doctors and dentists are found in one of two ways online: Their name and title, e.g. Dr. James A. Smith, MD Their practice name, e.g Smith Plastic Surgery, P.C Often sites like Healthgrades are providing data on the doctor him or herself, and the information can be tough to switch out. At the same time, there's a tendancy on the Dr's part to want to be listed as their practice name. Their site is often set up that way. How are you handling this kind of setup? Have you found a way to reliably associate (and format) a practice and doctor's name in a listing, in such a way that doesn't violate Google's quality guidelines? I know the drill for handling a doctor within a hospital, but this is a slightly different situation...

For Local SEO on a business with many locations, should the city be included in the business name?
For a franchised business with ~50 locations spread across the US, should the city be included in the business name when building citations? Fictional example: Â We have a staffing franchise called 'Hamilton Staffing'. Â They have 50 locations in the US. Â They are all called 'Hamilton Staffing'. We need to finalize the correct NAP information so we are consistent in building citations. Â For the name, should we just use 'Hamilton Staffing' for all of them? Â Or should we use 'Hamilton Staffing - Chicago' and the like for other locations? It looks like InfoUSA and Axciom are just using 'Hamilton Staffing', whereas Google is using 'Hamilton Staffing Chicago' and the like. Thoughts on this?

Does displaying a mobile number for business hurt local SEO?
Perhaps a silly question but could someone please clarify if displaying a mobile number in the main site or Google places etc would hurt local SEO? Is having a regional landline/fixed telephone number a ranking factor? EDIT: This is for a UK site, does anyone have experience of this is UK please?

Which Local Listing Should I Delete
I have a client that has two local listings in google for one suburb. My client only has one office in this area. In the below two local listings no information has been completed except for information scraped from the yellow pages by google Option A
Image & Video Optimization | | VivaArturo
One listing has a review that is 8 months old and shows in the blended local search results position A. However the address details are incorrect as info is from an old yellow pages ad. To verify this address it can only be completed by postcard as does not provide a phone number option. Option B
This listing has the correct address as per the yellow pages listing and has been verified and has no reviews. in position I All other competitor local listings are not placed except for one Should I edit Option A's address to update to the current address and delete Option B from the local listings. Verification can be completed by mail only Or should I delete Option A with the incorrect address with one review and keep Option B as has just been verified and can start woking on this listing immediately. I think I should use Option B, as in the 2 weeks I would wait to be verified I could gain more ground with the current listing. What are your thoughts?0 -
Do citations in foreign languages help for local SEO in English?
Hi, All! If you're doing trying to get a foreign site (in English) to rank for local SEO in that country (in English),.do citations in the native language help? Â Google does seem to know that the business name in English and the foreign language are the same (e.g. if you search in English, it will return some results in the foreign language with the business name in the foreign language bolded). Â And addresses Google can also tell are the same, as evidenced by Google map searches in both languages pinpointing the same location. So - are citations in the foreign language relevant to help the page rank higher for a local query in English? Any thoughts? Thanks, Aviva

Where to host viral campaign content?
I'm about to launch a series of viral videos for a growing UK brand, in which the viewer will have control of the storyline (e.g. tippex bear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ba1BqJ4S2M). It will start with one theme (1 main 'landing page' video with a series of 'ending' videos). If successful, there will be more themes added in the same format (on-going campaigns). Each campaign will feature high volume niche keywords and will hopefully appear in the SERPs. The keywords will not compete directly with the main branded website but there will be some relevance. My question is, where is the best place to host the content? YouTube = max exposure, easier to get vid preview into SERPs but links to site are nofollow? must pay for customised page functionality - see this link http://www.quora.com/How-did-they-make-the-Tipp-ex-Interactive-YouTube-video **Microsite **= keyword rich domain for each theme with links to main site? more difficult to rank with new domains? Main website = (DA=44) easier to rank using existing domain, helps increase DA with new linkbait? Use video sitemap to appear in SERPs Blog = as above (blog hosted on main domain), but keeps main site focussed on core keywords I assume YouTube will achieve best reach/buzz, but would I miss out on any SEO benefits? Thanks.
